    I think this is actually an ICE block not an SIP

    Hey Ryan, any chance you can post the manufacturer up here, it's just what i'm looking for. Cheers Lee.

    The guy on the peak should be tied off! I am sure the insulation is very slippery! If you are not working safely then don’t post such unsafe examples of work!

    9 years late and a dollar short but any way someone knows the manufacturer of these roof panels?

      You can make these panels yourself by using galvanized "C" channel up to 6" wide or custom order them in 8" width and insert tje foam between them

    This is not an ICF (Insulated Concrete Form). It called an SIP (Structural Insulated Panels).

      Its definitely not a ICF panel and never seen a metal or aluminum clad sip myself. So to me its neither ICF nor SIP.

    Was going to reply under Turbo's post but he's correct. This is a SIP and not ICF. Not trying to be a dick, just thinking that maybe you can correct the title. Looks like the walls could be ICF though. I'm looking for info on ICF's for the roof versus SIP but I think I'd be good to go with ICF walls and SIP's for roof. Thanks for posting this as I haven't seen metal SIP's yet. Most are OSB style but maybe different countries have different styles.

    This is how you build a house when you don't want to live in a fire hazard, and when you don't want to worry about your home blowing down from high winds, and when you don't want termite infestation, and when you want a much higher R value than stick construction can offer, meaning lower energy costs. Two by fours [actually measuring 1 1/2 x 3 1/2] with a whopping R13 batt insulation = LOL. This is how you build a house when you want to pay less in labor costs rather than paying top dollar for 19th century throwbacks beating nails into wood. Yeah, this is how I want to build a house!

    Awesome! Love it. How much? R Value? We build Passive Solar with no mechanicals needed so its perfect.

    was concrete put into the roof later? or, were the panels merely used as a "framework" for roofing? I was thinking "spray in" insulation, in lieu of concrete may work, but wasn't sure if the concrete was needed for stability in the design.

    ICF - stands for Insulated Concrete Form. I think you have your terminology wrong.

    Its always good to see experts posting comments!! Well, the "gap" referred to below is closed using the same panel in the video - just cut to fit. The panel itself does not have any concrete in it - its pure insulation and the steel which allows tremendous spans with no need for support. Spans of 7.5 meters can be achieved with no support. All constructive comments welcome!!!

      Translation: It's a SIP (Structural Insulated Panel), not an ICF (Insulated Concrete Forum).

    These are concrete filled? Seems like one could add just a little more steel and skip the concrete entirely.

      No, no concrete in the roof panels. Just steel reinforced rigid insulation panels. Very strong, light weight, durable, fire proof.

    I was searching info about ICFs and generally environmentally friendly construction methods(steel studs, concrete forms, foam insulation, pex-plumbing, etc). Quite a number of ICF manufactures are offering excellent products. I liked Quad-lock the most. Kinda concerned about concrete pour in ICF. Voids in the forms can be a huge " invisible" problem. That's why I was wondering why you took the forms off. You did excellent job.

  • @RyanRoad99
    @RyanRoad99 16 років тому

    I suppose the reasons were - The quadlock was only used at this stage to form the foundations which are 1 foot wide and 1 foot deep and you can see the metal track was then put on top of these foundations - so there was no need to have the foundations themselves insulated with the quadlock and The Quadlock obviously costs money - so the Quadlock taken off the foundations was then used to get the underbuild done to get us to the floor slab stage how did you come across the video?

  • @ClaytonKG
    @ClaytonKG 16 років тому

    what was the idea behind taking off quad-lock forms?
