I have been a historical war gamer and miniatures painter for 40+ years.
I started off with all things WW2, and then ancients/medieval from 2004 until present. Currently revisiting my WW2 passion again and working on things I haven't touched in over 20 years.
Keep in mind most of my videos are done with a lot of fun and are not PC so watch at your own risk. ;)

Even the strelets improved sculpting, it is still imo unatractive. Mars is better but they have deformations after rescalling from their 1:32 range. And is impossible to remove 100 percent of the flesh on them, the material is flossing(?) Im only buying 3d prints recently.
Which 3D print vendor are you using for figures?
Kelly's Heroes is ripe for becoming a scenario for Face of Battle.😀
I prefer some form of random movement. Represents a figure setting off and then finding an unexpected obstacle or change of terrain. Even 'open' terrain in wargames is not flat.
By "random movement" you mean some form of variance in distance travelled so say not every soldier is able to move exactly 5", correct?
I have this army for DBA and have Trojan horse to math
Put 6RTR markings on, as an Australian operated tank.
Panzer Regiment 5 had an initial allocation of 25 Pz1s, supplemented later by another 25 as replacements. The Pz1s were not used on the front line, restricted to reserve and policing duties. They were low on the fuel priority scale. They had to be tropicalised otherwise they would have problems with their air cooled engine.
So all in the core force of 5th Light/21st Panzer.
Does it require glue?
Yes.
SABLE to SABLE!
I had forgotten what this meant since it had only come up once.
Interesting scenario! I have the rules for The Face of the Modern Battle but not these rules from WWII. Do you know where I can find them? I've seen that the expansions are on Wargame Vault but I don't see the rules for the base game.
Noble Knight sometimes has a copy of the base game.
Lovely minis. You are going to be painting up those Strelets extras, aren't you? The bright colours in your rack need a run out.
The Sneaky Stretlsi? Nah, that is a Russian ploy.
The Aussie felt hat is called a slouch hat.
Hello and thank you for all your comments on my panzerjager I model. I understand that you have this panzerjager I in 1/72 scale, it was originally designed in 1/56, but Chad from Iron Horse Collectibles does incredible prints that honor my models in all scales. I can't wait to see how you paint it.
Ron Courtes (Counlane Models) is a huge historian and does over extensive research before releasing any of his models. VERY VERY high detail stuff. He doesn't release anything until he believes it accurate for the period. He has a ton of stuff "On The Table" but will not release anything until it fits his high criteria for period accurate models. He has more to come!
Man those look good! For that little soviet tank with the bent barrel, I would do what you said and just cut it off and replace it.
Tony, thanks for the kind words on the unboxing! I really look forward to seeing your paint job on these things. As always, I'm trying to get the right resin mixture to support HIGH quality print detail and durability for game play but things do break from time to time on these resin prints. Drop me a line if you want anything reprinted for the battle damaged items during shipping and I'll get you some replacement parts.
Looking forward to working on these, Chad.
Really crisp detail and printing. Looks like better quality than I am used to with printed vehicles.
They all look superb Tony. Surely an Aussie commander in the M11/39 😊.
Your kind just can't wait to eat some spaghetti, huh? 😗
Watching these older videos….thanks for posting. 👍
Glad you like them!
Just a quick question if you happen to know: Do the Zvezda Panther D kits come with Decals? I’ve build larger scale Zvezda tanks & 1:72 figure kits but want to order this kit. Thanks!
Yes, they do. Two sets I believe. Keep in mind they come with all hatches closed so no option to put a tank commander in unless you modify.
Enjoyed the video, it inspired me to pick up the book “ Panzer-grenadiers Divisions”…which I thought I already had??!! I didn’t, but I found it at Goodwill online store for $6.88 shipped. You scored on those books. Thanks for sharing you pickups. Finally seeing this in 2024😊
Wonderful! Thanks for coming by yesterday on my feed.
Amazing how much stuff is resin cast or 3-d printed these days.
A lot
That Hasegawa with the track off gave me an idea for making a 'track damaged marker' with some loose track laid on the ground to slip under the back of a vehicle's base.
Sounds cool.
Prepare to be blown away with what I do with this damaged, broken stuff.
A nice mixed lot of loot there Tony. All of the damaged tanks could be based and used for a scenario where recovery teams vie to retrieve their own and their opponents broken vehicles.
Sounds like a cool "combat vignette."
This is going to be a great opportunity to make some of these things "shine."
When I saw the thumbnail for this session I thought that you were airbrushing a Hawker Hurricane 😂 😂 😂! Not airbrushing during a hurricane 🙄.
Sorry to disappoint- I'll try better next time. :)
🤣🤣🤣
Sorry I missed ya.
No worries...I'll be back.
Reason why it's the largest gaming store in Canada. He did not film the gaming area's either lol
Actually hadn't planned on filming it at all until I walked around and saw the whole area for historicals. The sheer amount of historical stuff is what makes this store unique.
This was a great stream.
Tony! You have literally made watching paint dry interesting.
I am glad I finally found some purpose in my life! 😉
Looks great!
Thanks!
Exactly work Tony. I am glad you on to WW2.
I am glad I am back but more for the fact that I am not playing an abstract game.
Solvaset from Walthers is my preferred decal setting solution. No stink.
War Hammer players still live in Mommy's basement Lol!
Walmart has the Green Loctite. Ace True value has it also if you have one where you live.
recovering 1:35TH scale modeler, funny you mentioned that. I have 1400 1:35th kits in my garage unbuilt and probably never will be.
Yeah, I got rid of my 25 or so kits in the early 1990s that were all started at some point.
M18 was a Buick built tank destroyer
Oops I got the wrong "old person car brand." 😄
That's a shame on the PSC Carrier sprues. The 15mm pack of 8 has all the same parts on all 8 sprues giving you lots of extra pieces/parts.
Yeah, sometimes the 15mm versions get lots of extra stuff the 20mm don't. Oh well, 1/72 is still my scale.
Hay Tony, on the print lines I use the 3 foot rule. If you can't see it from 3 feet away it's all good Lol!
Well, I have been doing this hobby since 1985, and that would be a first for me. I am nearsighted and frequently paint without my contacts, so my "canvas" is 6 times bigger, too. I think they will turn out just fine in the end.
I see from your experiences I'm not the only one to deal with all the issues involved with building the small scale models.
No matter how bad the issues, they make a day at the salt mines seem like a breeze.
@@TonyAguilarFigure-atively Modeling was my relaxation from work. I worked on the railroad for 40 years.
Just past 30 years here at same stressful job. This hobby keeps me from being an alcoholic and/or being on the news. 😉
Hi Tony, I'm Mark Schloemer and I so all the house painting for MTCo. I would recommend using the Loctite gel-glue in the Green bottle. It gives you a few seconds to move the piece into position before it sets.
Thanks for the tip! I am used to using epoxy so have a little more working time. I'll pick some of this up.
@@TonyAguilarFigure-atively Give it a try Tony. I model in 15mm and it's great for these. I have built all the models except the Guard shack in 15mm. The M15 Halftrack is a tedious one to say the least but, it's really nice when done.
Yeah, mine turned out well. I finished it up this AM, and the videos really helped.
They look very clean for a 3D printed kit.
Super!you made breathtaking ,have a great day, )
Thank you! Cheers!
Be interesting to see how you get on. Not a fan of multi part 3D printed stuff. For me, the whole point is to get a vehicle that needs little or no assembly.
haha back again, incredibly helpful video, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Sweet finds Tony
Yeah, nothing like going to a Brick and Mortar store to see things in the flesh.
You could use the bag as an ersatz spray booth. IKEA bags are better, though.
These are almost the same bags you can buy to go to the store to load up with groceries and that will probably be its fate.
History and Geography are interlinked. Not learning from History and Geography is about to cost The World big time.
Pepesha - my god as a Slavic person that pronunciation killed me
I was 53 years old and have said it every time this way before someone let me know it is pronounced differently. Please let me know the correct way to say it - I would hate to have to resort to calling it a "burp gun."
@@TonyAguilarFigure-atively nah you're good i didnt mean it as insult it was just hella funny to hear someone from NA try to pronounce it. That being said you did better than most
Thanks, Tony, for a very detailed review of my game (I’m the author - Michael Ball). Very cool that it is one of your favourite games. The game is fairly straight forward. You can teach it in minutes. Why? Because the player can only do something (an action) when their card (chit) is drawn and only to that one specific unit (figure) as indicated on the card. Otherwise, don’t worry about all this extra stuff. And the basic actions are move or shoot. As you pointed out, the size of the game (page count) and poor editing, unfortunately, prohibited a lot of people from playing the game. You actually do not use 80% of the rules/info in the game. The game should have been edited down to 1/4 the size and a lot moved to supplements. I haven’t played the version of the TFoB you are reviewing in 20 years. So, this video was a good refresher for me too. Haha As a poster stated in another video, TFoMB (the modern version) was to correct and streamline the original TFoB. But I was not satisfied with TFoMB either. I have been working on a second edition of TFoB for over 10 years. I have been demoing it at various conventions. The core is still there (CV, MV, actions, and card driven), but a lot was changed, streamlined, and various cool new rules were added. For example: - figure stances are removed - the set mode of play is cards activate one soldier/crew member (no cards/chits by squad, etc) - what you call “chunkiest” - combat is a separate to-hit and damage roll - morale is clearer and simpler - all modifiers are to the target number (not the die roll - except the x2 modifier). - spotting and identifying have been removed - vehicle rules are cleaner - the 3/4 , 1/2 and 1/4 (visibility and night range adjustments) were removed and moved to a supplement - certain leaders can hold a leadership card like a sniper and play that card instead of drawing from the deck - new flag bearer and messenger/runner special units - dice used changed from d100 to d10 The focus is on the basics/core of the game. All that other bulky/extra stuff will be moved to downloadable pdfs, or nationality supplements and scenario books. A game changer is the fact we can now do print-on-demand decks of cards. Making the cards is a pain for sure. Chits work well too. And yes, 20mm is the one true scale. LOL Thanks again for a fantastic review. Mike
Hello Mike, will you be putting the German and Soviet Equipment Listings that came with the original rule set up on Wargame Vault? And I look forward to the new edition.
I look forward with interest to see the latest development.
The earliest production model of the SU76 involved a completely enclosed fighting compartment - when this kit advertised "early model" this is the one I was, frankly, expecting to see. It wasn't a success: gun elevation was limited and ventilation was so poor the crew could be asphyxiated by fumes. Only about 300 of the version with the enclosed compartment were built, and were all sent back for modification to the open-topped weapon (quite a few thousand of this one were built).
Awesome info. I personally love details like that!
Thanks to you and Mike for this, Nic, looks very interesting 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
