Hello and welcome to my channel! I'm a drum corps and marching band nerd and have spent most of my life involved in the activity. I marched baritone with The Cadets from 2000-2007, and have taught 4 different drum corps since 2010. I've been writing and designing marching band shows for almost 20 years and have built up a portfolio of over 60 shows.

these are someone's recycled BOA uniforms. It was for the crayola crayon show.
@3:28 is really cooking
cool
Was one of their staff wearing jordans? lmao
Excellent!!
Clean 👌 especially for early season
No joke I’m excited for this season with all the corps
So real, I get to see most of the top 12 later this season
@@hittle_ethanayeee nice I’ve only gone to the Denton one a couple times thankfully no BD there lolll the music is good but the drill I can never physically watch
Actually surprised by how clean this is in the lot, now if they can clean it up on the field this is a 3rd place show with potential to be a 2nd place show
You underestimate Boston Crusaders’ potential. Potential is unrestricted. The talent & discipline in this corps is clearly superior.
i personally think the show design itself is lacking. everyone hoots and hollers every year about bd doing boring shows but playing them perfectly. i think this show epitomizes boring but perfect.
@@booker9816 Your misuse of punctuation is what’s lacking, boring, and imperfect.
You mean 1st.

I marched open class in 2012 for one year and the biggest regret of my life is not marching my last two years of eligibility, much less joy going world class. I was scared I wasn’t good enough to make it and I let that fear dominate my actions. My thought was I wasn’t a music major in college so I needed to focus and devote my time to studies/extra curricular things in my area of study to brighten my future job prospects to improve my resume. Well… Here I am almost ten years after my age out year, not having accomplished anything I thought I was going to do or be career wise where I thought I’d be (lawyer, diplomat, government/public service) (still a work in progress) I thought I had it all figured out back then thinking marching more drum corps wouldn’t have helped me going forward, but god was I wrong. If I could go back and slap the 20-year old version of myself silly to make myself realize that then and there, I would in a heartbeat and give all the things I have to go back and march those two years of eligibility I had. You’ve got your whole life to worry about your career or adult priorities once you get there, but you only have so many years to march drum corps. And I can say from experience, that once that time comes and goes and you realize you can’t turn the clocks back to live your dream, it’ll eat away at your soul and tear you apart as it has for me. If there’s any type of wisdom or advice I can impart on anyone still young enough to march, worry about “adulting” and overall life goals later and live up your goals/dreams to march now while you have the chance. You won’t regret it and you’ll always be able to live with the satisfaction of knowing you took the chance and succeeded in having the best summers of your life. Above all, cultivating the best memories and relationships that will last a lifetime. It’s sad to see this activity is on the verge of dying because of the astronomical and outlandish costs to march and maintain corps structures alive. I hope they get it together quickly and find solutions. The death of DCI cannot happen and would destroy the hopes and dreams of millions to come to desire to participate. Moreover, the hard work, sacrifice and perseverance of millions who have come before and have set the example would be tarnished. #RTN 💙
They don't sound good 🤬
Said no one
were first in brass 98% of the year so if they don't sound good then no one in Drum Corps does 😂
@@truthteller8504 they sounded like bots!
Really love the low brass feature at 2:33. Just sounds so rich
Chills! Thanks for posting. 5:20!! Love it.
Pretty awesome!! ❤
Very nice, crisp hornline. Like them and Crown, and also Phantom Regiment, the best.
Omg the overtones 😩😩😩
dat tuba feature doe
I miss 2019 when I played game of thrones for the first time
3:37 that was hilarious
My man looked like he just saw a ghost, LMAO.
❤❤❤ it.😊
this guy been teaching horns for awhile? ;) bravo
If youre talking about Gino (Orange Shirt) He started with BD in the 90's, Went to The Cadets in the early 2000's and Boston since 2017
He’s been around you could say
Go Johnny and Sean!
Two of the best! They will be missed in 2024. :(
Let's go! Don't forget to clap haha
Such an amazing show this year
Giant at the end really got me. so glad you included that!
3:14 My favorite move in all of marching. Turn 2 lock with a horn manual?!?! 🤤🤤🤤
So clean and satisfying
One of my vis techs marched tub in this
3:51 4:28
2:36.5
Such talented young people amazing love Boston
3:14 help im rolling on the ground in tears this was so clean
I would like to see a corps do a Stars Wars show.
I wish the dci programs would be in Philadelphia again. We saw them in 1976 i think. They still give me chills.
The tonality is immaculate.
The mello lick at around 4:45 is one of the most evil things I've heard
lmao facts dude
The Lacrimosa hit is my hands down favorite piece of music in DCI history
That's among my top 5 and then the beginning of this video just gave me chills.
why... why... oh, why... just conduct and just follow. There's lots of light and NOBODY in the way of seeing the conductor. That dam metronome just RUINS it.
They literally beat the first place winners in brass Im pretty sure they know what’s up
Frankly its to get the tempo in their ears. Im not the best conductor and as much as I wish I was, I wasn't perfect with tempos.
@@shadycrescent9369 So, see? That metronome is just an ugly sound they don't need. Neither do we, the listener. I'm pretty sure I can and always have been able to perfectly follow a conductor. I'm also pretty sure these musicians can, too. So, your point? LOL Did "they leterally beat the first place winners in brass" with that obnoxious metronome going? LMAO!!!!
There's room for interpretation with hands. Different conductors conduct different ways. There is no interpretation with a met. You just play with it. I am thoroughly grateful to have had the met going during all of our warmups
@@brianarzola spitting facts
wowwwww. so dang tight.
What I would do to hear Boston or any other drum corps for that matter play lacrimosa live😍 7:30 - 8:19
Anyone know the name of that first thing they played?
It’s the theme from Game of Thrones. We use it as a sort of ‘chorale’ after one of our warmup exercises
I'm a Blue Devils fan but I honestly teared up watching the Crusaders live at Finals this year. Coming from a 8 year band student, this isn't about competition, its about respect and what you can put onto the field. I always thought the Crusaders were an OK DCI group, but after hearing them live for the first time, I now know I was so very wrong, they are AMAZING! But I am still and forever will be a Blue Devils guy and a Bluecoats guy. Also anybody else think 7:30-8:19 should be a movie ending? Like I think this should be the background music at the end of a really good action movie. Just me?
it has been many times, it's lacrimosa. and a sprinkle of What a wonderful world. it's such a unique and ingenious combination. I 100% agree with you though, add some strings and vocals and this would be so epic
4:26
4:40
you dont even have to try to imagine that they sound like an organ, they literally turned this gym into an organ
Metronome not necessary.
It's rehearsal, yes it is lmao
god I always love rehearsing in that room.
damn that tone quality tho
Needs more cow bell.
I agree!!
