Amazing System
Seems to work so far...
I use ethanol free fuel bought at BP. If you cannot find ethanol free fuel where you live, I advise you to go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy True fuel. Yes, it is expensive, but for the problems you will have using just regular ethanol fuel with this engine, it is worth it. Chinese fuel does not contain ethanol so the rubber and plastic parts in this engine are fine in China, but those parts will degrade quickly from the ethanol. Trust me the guys who buy those Chinese scooters and motorcycles will tell you the same thing.
Yup. ethanol free is the way to go, if you can get it. I've never used True Fuel. But if you do, make sure to use the correct one (i.e. I would personally get the one for 2 stroke engines and add my own "marine" oil). However, you might want to check what "other" additives are in it... just in case.
Thanks for the video, not many videos on this outboard. I’m debating on buying this or an old heavily used and abused outboard for around the same price but leaning towards this.
Having both, I would say the overall quality of the older name brand outboards is excellent and a little quieter. If it is in good shape, it might have an edge... As long as you can buy parts, and assuming you know a bit about taking care of the older outboard, you should be fine. That said, make sure it starts, runs, and runs well from idle through open throttle. For what it's worth, i am happy with both.
Lo mismo me ocurre a mi,uno usado tiene el mismo precio que este motor nuevo
@@MatthewADupuis i bought one and the clutch failed after 8 hours of break in. :( $259.00 wasted.
@@pagentilini100 What motor did you have? There is no clutch on the Aiqidi 3.5HP motor.
@@FishIt-up2li Mine is the Hangkai 3.6 there is a clutch or I guess the forward gear. The motor stopped moving forward.
Awesome video! Curious how much do you think it weighs in total? Thanks
It's extremely light. If I had to take a wild guess, I would say 30lbs or less. If I have some time later, I will pick it up and step on a scale :)
Ok... I was too curious, so I went out to the shed and stepped on a scale. According to my scale, it is 26.5 lbs with an almost empty fuel tank.
Rebadged hangkai engine, very good if maintained properly
I did not know that.
I was only able to put 5 hours on my Hangkai 3.5 and the clutch went out. I won't be purchasing again :(
@@pagentilini100 lol, done loads more hours than that on mine
@@mototommy5525 Yeah my motor will not move, it revs but that's it. I guess you get what you pay for any way I will be selling mine for parts :(
@pagentilini100 have you checked to make sure the keeway for the propellor hasn't sheered, they give you a spare in the kit, it's more than likely the keeway not the clutch, check before binning it
That throttle handle is confusing!
Yup. I was confused at first. I really wish they had invested a little more time into tweaking it. I think if they changed the throttle handle, it would make the motor much more appealing.
I was wondering if you knew where to buy a new water pump impeller for this engine? I was wanting to have one as a backup Incase the original goes bad. Please and thank you for any information.
Good question. So far, I have not had to replace the impeller. When and if it goes bad, the stream usually slows rather than suddenly stops. This should give you some time. I suspect, that like a lot of other small outboards, one of the more common other brands will fit. For example, my replacement prop is a Yamaha fit. That said, the vendor has responded to my questions pretty quick and may have a good answer.
Does this motor seem to be a bother without a neutral?
It doesn't bother me at all that there is no neutral. I think the benefit of not having a clutch that could fail is well worth it.
That's the problem , my manuel don't say squat about break in at all anywhere inside the box it came in NOTHING NOWHERE ! And I have to say that is piss poor form Aiqidi . Had I not found videos on youtube while I was waiting , my motor would be TRASH ARE YOU LISTING AIQIDI !!! TRASH !!! Yes I'm a little perturbed about that , , , here me Aiqidi ? How many people have trash instead of a boat motor , that is not froze up in the trash can cursing Aiqidi . AIQIDI GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER !!!! Thank you Sr. for saving me a ton of grief and hatred toward another half ass Chinese company . God bless America and people who know how to put together a owners manual .
Glad you found the videos online. I find it odd that there was no booklet. Maybe your box was repackaged, or somehow opened. Mine was well packaged and even came with an extra shear pin. You should contact the vendor about it. They have been very responsive.
@@FishIt-up2li No I'm saying in the owner's manual it didn't have any info about breaking the motor in There was a manual that only said 50:1 nothing about breaking in on 25:1 for 10 hours anywhere in the manual on the motor in the box on a card NOTHING ANYWHERE about break in . I found out by searching UA-cam and a good thing I did or my motor would be trash . Aiqidi needs to put the break in info somewhere in the manual on a card tied to the gas cap on a stiker by the gas cap SOMEWHERE to let people know this is a must prosiger for the motor .
You are correct. There are no instructions for break-in in the manual (I just looked). I must have downloaded it from their site (and no, I don't sell anything online). For others who are reading this... The Break-In is "roughly" as follows - But please check their site first... **(using 25:1 gas to oil ratio during break-in): 1-10 min at idle 10 min - 3 hours at less than half throttle 3-5 hours at a range of speeds less than 3/4 throttle ( i.e. between idle and 3/4) 5-10 hours use a range of speeds. However, you can only use full throttle for 5 minutes at a time, with a 10 - 15 minute break in between. Once break in is completed, you can change to a 50:1 gas oil ratio
@@FishIt-up2li Thanks for the break in instructions . I haven't even pulled the starting cord yet . Almost everything with moving parts should go through a break in . It looks and seems to be a pretty nice boatmoter for what it cost . I have a 1.2hp I bought from Sears back in the 80s and it still runs like a champ but nothing last forever . I have 2 Mercury's 2.5hp and 3.5 they are junk I don't have more than 10 hours on either of then carbs are trash right out of the box . I think they would be good little motors if they had good carbs on them . Thanks for the info have a blessed day .
They would expect you to knOw how to break in a simple four stroke, single pot engine. Too simple to bother with. The impeller should last for years if run every 2 months or so until the water ran warm. Keep the intake well away from sand or mud. If there is wear on the prop paint then you should not be allowed to use an outboard.
Super helpful video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
