More Fuel-Kompression..and it will run better
Memories coming. 55 Years ago, when the Storch already had been a very old and rare airplane, there was a man with a storch visiting our holiday island Langeoog in northern germany every year. He seemed to land normally but in fact he hovered just a wheels diameter above the ground with all the three wheels, full flaps and minimum speed and he succeded to turn into the taxi-way with much rudder and littel touching the ground (grass). Then, when he approached the parking area the people sitting on the terrace with cake and coffee became aware he was still flying. Several of them got in panic and tried to escape. Then, shortly before parking slot, the guy took the flaps handle and let it flip. The storch with clean flaps now sank into his long legs - short brake - and stood. That was really funny. Today no more possible. The Argus V8 is in priciple a reliable engine. However it likes some speed and cooling air during full load climbing. I know a maintanance and repair shop of old aircraft engines very well and had had the chance to look into this remarkable engine. I was astonished about the aircooled crankshaft bearings.
