Great video, I'm glad you liked the dvd I sent, I grew up watching the BBC show the Lion Witch and the wardrobe, I have the BBC Dvd Boxset that has the chronicles of Narnia Collection Witch has the Lion Witch and The wardrobe, The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, Prince Caspian and the Silver Chair. You were born in 88 I feel old I'm 12 years older then you. Great video keep up the good work, I'm always happy to send movies to both you and caleb. I am surprised Goodwill lowers the price on anything these days. Have you seen how much they charge for certain electronics right now? SMH.

When is someone going to do one on the Fox titles. I have a rotted copy of Space Above and Beyond, another SW fan recently purchased the entire region 1 Star Wars trilogy set of the bonus discs from 2006 all were rotted. None played. He tried them on multiple players, blu ray machines and a computer drive. Maybe the failure rate isn't high but to be the person who finds their discs don't play, truly horrible.

The DVD bonus is a facsimile of the original, 1993 audio mix with the 77 crawl and starfield tacked on. Incorrect smashing glass sound in the shootout in the detention block. Compressed sounding audio, the Laserdisc sounds better. They wasted a fair bit of disc space on the lego demo and it's not even anamorphic widescreen. My Pal Australian DVD of Return of the Jedi upscaled very well, but it has pal speedup 25 fps video. It still looks better than the US bonus dvd just not blu-ray quality.

warner brothers have always been shoddy with there DVD releases, hardly and extras and flimsy card boxes.

That Gilmore Girls set (Along with Parenthood which I also bought during that era) got me through the nightmare that was 2020 lol

This issue with Warner Bros really upsets me. Up until 2015 I was in the movie business and had access to many studio employee stores and I was able to purchase DVD's and Blu-Rays for a very low cost. Some films which I had a part of I got for free. As a result I have a collection of 10,000 + DVD and Blu Ray's. Thankfully just about everything I still own still plays fine "EXCEPT" those from Warner Bros. 2006 to 2009 was a sweet spot and Warner Bros released a lot of content. I am now afraid to even pull out a Warner title from that era. The few that I have tried failed at the layer change. My unscientific opinion is my Warner bros fail rate is 50% plus. For those having problems with New Line disc New Line was owned by Warner Bros at least back then. A small percentage of Warner Titles from that era have been replaced on Blu Ray but doing so on everything if you can even get it is expensive. No longer in that business!

Full Screen or Widescreen changing doesn't bother you? Do you redeem all your DMI points? I can't remember if they flag you if you redeem a DVD of a single movie and then redeem a set with the same movie in it on the same format.

I think DVD and Blu-ray physical media are the perfect items to get autographed. I'm actually meeting Robert Patrick of Terminator 2 next month. I have a 4K Limited edition of T2 that I'm looking to get autographed by him. By the way I'm very impressed by the Doug Bradley Autograph you have!

Ah yes...Hollywood and Touchstone. When Disney wanted to make things outside of family films, but couldn't put their name on it. With them having R rated movies on Disney Plus, that defeats their entire purpose, LOL!

My collection has several thousand titles in it and I just went through 1,000 of them to transfer to my new central server. Finally; something really sweet. Can you even guess how long that took? I have not seen any of these problems with the disks. Even on my oldest disks which are over 20 years old and ancient full screen format. Nor any problems with the old Warner disks other than again, old full screen formats I replaced outright. But they all played. Every single one. The only disk rot I've ever seen is when they're brand new and had been sitting in a warehouse for a long time and even that, they're easy to spot and I've had less than half a dozen in 20 years. All from very small houses. Some houses are so small they send you burns which may or may not play at all. Really. I've been buying DVDs from Amazon for 22 years and quality has been consistent the entire time across all the larger houses. Sets and series are surprisingly good quality. The Blacklist is the only series I've had that was junk in the box. Not rot, just a lot of disks that wouldn't play for no apparent reason. A replacement set fixed the issue. I never wasted time with Laser Disk. I got burned by Beta (1,000 titles at over 100 dollars a pop) and wasn't going to get burned twice. As much as I liked Laser Disks, they're too big and delicate; I didn't see a future for them and there wasn't. I never collected on VHS tape either and went directly to DVD. And since my Beta experience so soured me on collecting at all, I waited 5 years for the Sony upscale 1080p HD 5 disk Carousel's to come out. Today, I've been collecting DVDs for 22 years and have gone through several generations of televisions. And we were binge watching before the term was invented. Overall, I've been very happy with the quality of the disks. I've never had one play once and not again, ever. I have more trouble with new ones, and that's not often. I have upgraded a lot of the old full screen/ letterbox to anamorphic widescreen and digital remasters however. These transfers to the server gave me the chance to upgrade 1,000 titles. I did not upgrade to Blu Ray for the sake of it however, and I still don't buy them; even when they're cheaper. The results of Blu Ray performance are mixed. Some are better with, some are better without. Most are better without, DVD is a little softer and has come a long way in 27 years. Either way, from our 11 foot distance, my big 65 inch 4k is like watching through a huge picture window and the people on the other side are our size. Isn't that what it's all about? Our theater is across the room, not down it. My system runs a Samsung 4k player, a Sony International 4k/ Blu ray/ DVD player that'll play any disk in the world, and three 1080p upscale Sony carousels that just refuse to die. Sony has always had the best upscale circuitry in the business. We use those for binge watching series and they still get excellent HD pictures and can hold 15 disks at once between them. Combine that with a 4k 65inch LG television and a 7.2 channel 2,200 watt surround sound system and it's much better than most any movie theater you'll ever walk into; even with a 480p disk upscaled to 4k. (see my companion post) I have 1,000 watts of subwoofer power alone. And by the way, THX sound is for movie theaters only with totally dispersed non-directional surround sound and it's garbage for a home theater. Dolby Pro Logic/ Digital, is still the best and all disks are still currently encoded in it. One of my oldest series is Law and Order and we just finally started these (20 seasons). If you saw how big the box is, you'd understand why it took so long. The set has to be at least 13 years old and they're in absolute perfect condition and we're up to season 10. They even have the old style high quality push button cases. (I really miss those) And they're in 16:9 native format and look and sound perfect. HD at its finest upscaled to a 65 inch screen. It doesn't get any better than that. Except until you add in the new Dune HD 4k media server. I'd have to check, but I believe all my Rambo's will play just fine as well. I'd check it now, but after 1,000 disks already, I really don't care because I already don't believe any of this. I believe certain situations are happening to certain people and that's it. It sounds like solvents are in the air and it's breaking down the disk glues. Do you have anything acidic in your air? Any shops nearby that use chemicals? Or do you use cheap DVD cabinets loaded with formaldehyde? If any of this was actually real, I'm pretty certain I would've heard about it by now. Especially the Warner and Rambo issues. I didn't have one bad disk out of 1,000 of my oldest titles. Really.

Incidentally: We did a "The hell with the math, how does it look?" Side by side tests of Pirates of the Caribbean with both Blu Ray and DVD on a 60 inch 4k Samsung TV. The DVD was actually a lot smoother with colors. Details like individual hairs were clearer with the Blu Ray, but Make up on the characters was very noticeable and seriously fake on the Blu Ray. It blended perfectly on the DVD. The fake Make up was really bad and noticeable. They spend no effort on this and the Blu Ray makes it obvious. We gave the win to the DVD as the best viewer experience, believe it or not.

the only discs so far that I've had to replace were the Animaniacs sets. I still have to check season 2 of Thundercats, and the first volume of Silverhawks. Oh, and Dallas season 1 and 2...

Thank goodness I digitized my entire collection 5 years ago... My hard drives are protected in an airtight box with lead foil and a protection system against power surges. Once a year I check for bad sectors. I am exaggerated even for the most exaggerated. And I've gained a lot of free space.

I got lucky... F-Troop season 2 was bad but I got a replacement on Ebay and so far that one is still OK. Lethal weapon was bad but I had already upgraded to Bluray. Also Twilight zone the movie I upgraded to Bluray

It seems it affecting bluray too, ive been seein problems with my Pacific Rim movie, Godzilla 2014, it seems they have been buying faulty materials since 2006, even CD from 10's are having problems.

Joey season 2 some episodes just stopped playing correctly 2008

No waves at DT have been reported for a long time. Those DT MGM DVDs printed up a couple years ago usually have no Menu and may not have the extras of the older version. Things like Out Cold were Widescreen when the prior DVD was Full Screen though. Family Dollars can have movies, but maybe not always. About 2 years ago they had certain movies and CDs all at $2 each. I went around to a bunch of stores and got a lot of CDs and some movies, mostly DVDs. I haven't followed up since then. Dollar Generals can be hit or miss and sometimes will have old stock of OOP Blu-rays, things like Detroit Rock City, Looney Tunes Back in Action.

As an aside, every American BBC Video disc was manufactured and distributed by Warner Bros. I don't know if any are affected, but if anyone has Dr Who discs or maybe other BBC comedies or shows from that era, it might be worth checking them out.

Hey man. I'm in the middle of a move in my life and I'm looking to sell all of my DVD's for cheap. I have about 150? They're all actual good movies and they're all in very good condition. Not sure how to go about this, but I'd rather sell them to you for cheap than go the ebay route with a random. I live in the NY area. Not sure where to go from here. I could send you a video of all of them if you're at all interested, I don't mind.

Warner just needs to replace ANY bad discs sent for them with new copies, even if they’re out of print they should print new copies to replace the bad ones. TONS of their HD-DVDs have rotted also.
