Hello! I'm an ecologist from Scotland with a passion for rewilding and the natural world.
On this channel I look to share my thoughts on ecology, ecological restoration and other issues facing biodiversity in this country. I believe that rewilding can not only significantly benefit wildlife but benefit people also.
Hopefully I can teach people something new or get folk interested in wildlife, the environment and general ecology.
If this sounds like your kinda' thing, please consider subscribing to the channel. Cheers!

Ecotourism: can reintroduced species benefit Scotland's economy?
The return of white-tailed eagles to Scotland has led to a significant financial boost for the Isle of Mull whilst offering people a thrilling opportunity to closely observe these birds in their natural habitat. The return of these giants of the sky is undoubtedly a conservation / rewilding success story. But why stop there?
I believe reintroducing other top predators such as lynx and wolves would lead to a similar impact across Scotland in the areas which these animals roam. A new source of income, new business and job opportunities, an additional boost to existing establishments - all the while fulfilling a vital role in our currently broken ecosystems and giving the people of Scotland and beyond the opportunity to further enjoy our already wonderful range of wildlife.

Reintroducing Lynx To Scotland
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
It is time to bring back eurasian lynx to Scotland. The absence of apex predators such as lynx and wolves in Scotland has had a terrible impact on our ecology and biodiversity. Species like these are a key part of the ecosystem and they belong in this country. There is, in my opinion, no single good reason why we should not reintroduce the species back to Scotland. People who are against lynx r...
Scotland's Forgotten Forests: What are we missing?
Переглядів 19 тис.2 роки тому
In my last video I discussed why Scotland has lost so much of its native woodland. In this video I try to show you what we are missing in our landscapes by taking you into a wooded gully. Gullies are great places to find vegetation which is more intact, they are places that are naturally defended from grazing and burning simply due to the steeper topography of the land. They give us a small gli...
Scotland's Forgotten Forests
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
*Sources used listed below* Scotland used to have more native woodland. We were once a forested nation. Today only 4% of our native woodlands remain following a long history of deforestation and changes in land use. Wildlife requires diversity of habitats to thrive and it is clear that Scotland desperately needs more woodland. And as we try to navigate our way through the biodiversity and clima...
