With higher charisma, in this case Safana has 19 with the cloak, you can pay less in store, if shes party leader during the trade. Altough, the loss of reputation compensate for the 2 points charisma.. items will still cost very high. So its not sure if its worth killing the corpulent man. And also its a very high pickpocket level to get it, so I think its not an item that was intended to get early in the game. And even then, later in game, money is not a problem so the item is less usefull

The joke with the cook, there is the same joke in Asterix "chez les belges" (in french). Basically, someone starts to tell that joke, but is stopped before he can finish it. At the very end, when you steal the zircom gem near the guy in the bedroom, in EE it will call the guards, unless you charm the guy

Thx for your cast! This as to be a classic immersive dungeon in all DnD, not too intense, just realistic. If I may contribute to this video with more lore about it, many theory are possible on Ulcaster school origins and purpose. Basically Ulcaster ghost talks about teaching soon in a "celestial class", but in contrast he also says "we shall live again ". According to the lore, Ulcaster was based on a previous site of presumably dark magic, dealing with conjuration of Demons by an chaotic evil archmage called Halaster Blackcloak, older than Elminster. Years later, Ulcaster school was also studying conjuration, not to summons demons this time but on the contrary to ensnared them. So when the ghost says "prevent the same from happening again", at first it seems he talks about the war that destroyed his school, but on second thought maybe he references to some darker inner troubles. Also, its a possibility that this school was dealing with necromancy too, given the vampiric sword, the dreadwolfs guarding the place, also Icharyd the boss skeleton you fight outside in the SCS mode. Not to mention Ulcaster ghost form itself and that he talks about living again. About powergaming, Montaron is the best thief in the game, He is by miles away the tankiest thief, simply because he can wear fullplate. Also shield, and helmet. That means he will survive where all the others thief will die. Also, hes has the sorty saving throw, and better constitution than most thief, so again, much more tankier and reliable. (One could argue that Tiax, could be tankier than Montaron, but it takes the gauntlets of strenght to invest on Tiax, so Montaron wins). Secondly, hes the best at melee combat, simply cause he is multiclass fighter, so better Thaco than all the others. Will backstab much more reliably. Shortsword are equivalent to longsword cause they hit faster, compensating less damage. Also, you can get a +2 shortsword very fast in BG1, so that leaves option for Varscona for an other fighter. Finally, hes the second best shooter, after Coran, as a thief, cause again he is multiclass, and his dext is good enough. As a halfling, hes even better with a slingshot because of the halfling bonus. But even with a bow, hes better than all except Coran. Thief skills wise, hes a bit behind Safana, Imoen and Alora cause multiclass slows it down, but hes an halfling so more skills points to compensate.That means he will lockpick and find trap just as good as any others thief. To sums it up, Alora is the best thief for pure thieving skills, Coran is the best for shooting, but Montaron wins the powergaming choice cause he is the tankiest, the best in melee combat, and the second best shooter, so that makes him more reliable and polyvalent for harder difficulty mode in BG.

Volo is actually level 5 wizard, not 6, according to the original paper manuel of Baldurs'gate that I happen to have! About Candlekeep, its also written : '' Candlekeep had but one absolute rule : ''Those who destroy knowledge, with ink, fire, or sword, are themselves destroyed''. Here, books are more valuable than people. It sucks than in the EE, the chanters dont say a thing when you click on them, Beamdog really destroyed knowledge! With all that lore, its so far my favorite video from your awesome cast!

Here I go again, starting watching your let's play with a lot of excitement ! It always reminds me my own lovestory with this game, a loooong long time ago. But still !

That dagger &short sword are some of thr best in game cuz they both have a speed factor of zero meaning they're extremely fast and 1d6+3 0speed is real nice

Im so stuck here cuz i messed up missed that clue thst she was invisible and thought the fight just ended quickly cuz I'm on easy mode lol. But i left n then now when i go back i can't find anyone im like cast all the spells and can't find a thing like what do i do now i already got arrested and thrown in with neb then we used the sewer to get around n got evidence from every one i can only thing i need is thst invite and I don't have it can't get into ducal. The iron fist attack me on sight now since i escaped twice lol. But ya idk what to do maybe try going to ducal w/o it n see what happens maybe man im a bee mad if i screwed up a good 20hrs between durlag and here lol I also got a good team n magic items some of the best in game man i don't want to lose it lol. But the dagger is great i didn't get thst sad or the sword the best part of it is thst itd a zero hit speed so it's like constantly attacking 1d6+3 llol that's insane and the dagger as well as i didn't understand why it was so good its the speed&high stats oh well i have stronger speed7 weapons with all kind a crazy effects id lose lol. But it sucks how easy it is to screw up late game in this man wish it had auto saves at points that'd be where u can mess up so we can reload this sucks lol i may not be able to finish the game. Im in the under celler cast everything think I'll just go to ducal n see what happens

Wow, a thousand views for what I thought would be an insignificant video. I looked at the analytics and it turns out, on average, you guys watch it at least twice in its entirety. That sounds crazy so I'm not sure if UA-cam is having a bug or what, but if it's true it's a pleasant surprise. I have yet to play this or throne of bhall but Its one of the games on my list. There is much of the story that has been spoiled from watching videos like this but what I love about these games are the little details that tie the story together, like this fat spider woman thing being cursed by Jon Irenicus, the antagonist of shadows of amn. so neat. games from this era have such a great story and so much effort was put in them to make them legendary cult classics.
