Hello! My name is Samantha Muffuletto and I am currently studying Socio-Cultural Anthropology at Temple University. Toward the end of my junior year I began incorporating Visual Anthropology into my studies in order to share my experiences and acquired knowledge in mediums other than discussion and writing. So far, the majority of my clips are from Dhrangadhra, India which is where I recently partook in Dr. Jhala's "India: Culture, Art, and Religion" summer study abroad program. I hope by posting these videos I can inspire people to learn about, explore, and appreciate cultures vastly different from their own.

I presented this video under the "works in progress" panel as an introduction to my research on arranged marriage for Temple University's Futures of Visual Anthropology Conference. I will be continuing to work on this project in many interesting ways.

During my first semester of attending Temple University I began taking Hindi. In that class I learned how to speak as well as read and write in the Devanagari Script. This was my friends and my final presentation that our Professor filmed.

This was the first project I did in Bapa's (Dr. Jhala) class. He wanted the class to show what a day in their life was like. I happened to be going home this weekend so I decided to do my filming there. In one of the clips I filmed a part of an introduction to a French 2011 movie entitled, "A Gang Story" directed by Olivier Marchal. The song being played is called "Black Night" by Deep Purple. ...

I hear people use the "R" word all the time or I see it on FB and when I do I call it out. It upsets me and hurts my heart when people use "retarded" and "gay" pejoratively. We as humans need to learn to show compassion toward one another instead of judgement and ridicule. Thank You for sharing your thoughts.
