      I pleated it myself. I pleated 12 rows on a 5.5" x 22" strip of 45" broadcloth. If you don't have a pleater or access to a shop that does, really old pattern have dots that are used to evenly bast fabric. Google smocking pleating dots and you can see an example of the dots I'm referring to.

    • @1moproject
      @1moproject 2 роки тому

      That sounds fun! Be sure to use a new Sharp needle and use lots of pins to hold the fabric in place. Check your iron temp on a sample piece of fabric. And make a plan before you start, you can't get any extra fabric. I would love to see your finished quilt. I have a FaceBook page with the same name, 1 Mo Project, where you can post a picture.

    Hello, perhaps you can advise me on a problem I have had a few times. The top vent is not sitting flat on the bottom vent. There is a fold of material about 1 cm next to the 3rd button up from the cuff. What am I doing wrong and what can I do to fix it? Thank you for any help you can offer

    • @1moproject
      @1moproject 2 роки тому

      I think I understand your problem. If I'm right it has to do with the angle you sew the fabric together across the top of the vent. Line it up before you sew it and pin it in place on the outside. Then turn it so you can sew it. That should allow you to see that it is straight.

    Can the arm be too big?

    • @1moproject
      @1moproject 2 роки тому

      Yes, but at what point it would look bad is hard to say. The ease of the sleeve (how much bigger the sleeve is then your arm) should be about 1 inch but I'm sure 1.5 inch would still look ok.

  • @ehzazkhan7393
    @ehzazkhan7393 2 роки тому

    How to make an arm bigger

    • @1moproject
      @1moproject 2 роки тому

      Making the arm bigger may or may not be possible. There is only so much fabric available in the seam allowance. The most you can hope to add would be about 1/2 to 2/4 inch, not much for the amount of work needed. If you need more room in the shoulders, you should consider buying a new suit jacket. Sorry, there is no easy fix for making it bigger.

  • @relaxrelax981

    Hello, great video. I have a problem possibly others are having as well. I need to shorten the sleeves on most jackets. I am 5,7 with a 42' chest. All the jackets I have need to have a few inches off the sleeve. This is leaving me with hardly any placket to no placket to play with. This means that the mitre hardly exists and the mitre corner is usually sticking out to the side. Is it possible to shorten the sleeve length from the join by the shoulder instead? Please advise on what is the best thing to do. A video would be great. Thank you

    • @1moproject
      @1moproject 2 роки тому

      I understand you problem. It is hard to make the placket when there is no fabric to make it from. I'll try to work on an answer for you, but it may take me a little time.

      Lose weight, we’re about the same height & I wear a chest 34-36 & usually always having the jacket an inch too long which sucks since it’s almost perfect but since it’s just alittle long if u do shorten it it won’t be too weird, if u get chest 42 that means it’s a very big size which means the length & shoulder width will be too big & wide on u, so u should try to lose weight & get a chest 38 max which is a S/M if not get a chest 34 or 36 & the sleeves might even be perfect on u

      @@BHBULOP The thing is that size 42 is one of the largest size which means the proportions & length is made for someone 6’1 & above so if you’re 5’7 & you get size 42 the proportions will never fit u right because it’s made too wide & long unless u can get one that is made the same length & width regardless of the size which isn’t possible

    Hello, can you tell me please which interfacing you use. Which companies you recommend. Thank you.

    • @1moproject
      @1moproject 2 роки тому

      I usually use Pellon fusible interfacing. I think that is mostly about availability. it is easy to find locally. I try to iron with the fabric up instead of the interfacing up as much as possible. When i'm using a fabric that can take high heat sometimes it can melt the interfacing a little. I think the most important thing is to get the correct weight interfacing for the project. I hope this helps.

    do you count pleats for design being used?

    • @1moproject
      @1moproject 2 роки тому

      No, I don't count pleats when I am making an ornament. I start at one side and work as many repeats of the longest row (the row with the most steps in a wave), that will fit. That allows for a seamless look to the finished ornament. When I smock a dress I start with the longest repeat of the pattern and work from the center. Then work from side to side with the rest of the rows. There is a Smocked Christmas Ornament Part 2 video that may help show how the seamless smocking is worked out. It may help you to see why it works without counting pleats. I think you can use this link to get to it. ua-cam.com/video/BSPATS_orOA/v-deo.html
