I explain how to play board games, I unbox board games. As a zoo volunteer I tend to specialize in animal board games. And I also like to show my creativity on games like Minecraft.

That ladybug is perfect size for Harmonies.
Thanks for making this video!
mangoSteen. ;)
The hares scale quadratically, eg for 3 hairs each of them gives 3, so in total 9 :)
That’s a superb idea and really adds to the board….. nice thought
@@glennwilson3045 thanks and I’ve found a couple more that might work out too! So I’ll likely do another video in the future.
This game looks right at my complexity level and I like the theme too. Great explanation, I’m thinking of buying it, but is there a solo version that’s good? I imagine you and Ridley just had a two player match!😅…. Thanks for putting this up, the art work looks cool too
@@glennwilson3045 well artifacts inc. is a red raven game i suggest you check out my red raven games playlist, because Ryan laukat just recently designed a game with a good solo variant, it’s called creature caravan, and it’s also a dice placement game like artifacts inc.
Probably don't make sleeves for this.
@@TheLunatiched well that won’t be a problem I don’t have a single sleeved card in any game.
@Animal_board_gamer I was mostly joking. Oh man, some games really need sleeves. Decent quality cards with good quality sleeves are so nice. They can completely change a game for me.
@@TheLunatiched I’m actually not a fan of them, the problem is my only light in my room makes it impossible to see anything on the cards with the sleeves on. The glare is too much for my eyes to handle. Also I have butter fingers and so when I’m holding a sleeved card it often slips through my fingers, a real annoying problem. And despite that my cards are all still in great condition.
@@Animal_board_gamer Yeah, I get that. It's a qol thing but some good sleeves make em shuffle like butter. Matte sleeves can help with glare and proper sizing can mitigate the fumble factor. Some people just don't dig on sleeved cards and that's cool. Cheers.
@ don’t get me started on shuffling my hands are constantly shaky, which prevents me from shuffling period.
Looks good and appears to be fun, I may pick this game up. (Thanks for the video)
Thanks for video! Small error I believe you have made. For the Caribbean reef shark, you do NOT do the reef action AND the action described at the bottom of the card. The writing at the bottom of the card is simply explaining the reef action, as this is a new symbol from that of the base game. Read page 4 of Marine Worlds Rule book. You would do the reef action AND the writing underneath it (if there is any), if there are no reef symbols next to the writing (for example card "southern Blue ringed Octopus". If there is a reef symbol next to the writing at bottom of card, it is simply explaining what the reef action symbol is in words.
@@French1321 you are correct, I did misunderstand that at first. It wasn’t until sometime after I made the video I realized that wasn’t the case. But it’s not like I can edit a video already posted on UA-cam.
Thank you for posting this!!!!!!
Thanks for the video man, this was the only video explaining the game that I was able to understand
@@carlossalazar-lm3yx if you liked it, I also have made how to play videos for many other red raven games, like empires of the void 2, in fact I even videos explaining how and when and where each and every event works in empires of the void 2.
Turtles are amphibians. You're thinking of tortoises.
How did you graduate elementary school? Turtles and tortoises are both reptiles.
I love it!
These are awesome! Thanks for sharing!
All the cards that don't show the Venus Next symbol mean that Venus Next expansion is NOT required to use these cards. You don't need to play with Venus next to use this floater card 26:26 since you can easily manage this card without VN. You don't need to play with VN to use this card either for example 29:53. You can raise ANY paramater (Venus parameter not required) but if you play with VN, you can ALSO raise the Venus paramter. This card is not weaker at all, if you play without VN.
I love the art on the cards... so cool!
I was screaming ...No! don't open umbrella it's going to break! I think I stopped you in time 🤣🤣🤣
I love it! Ark Nova is on my timetable in November!
Silver lake also has the bonus action as a conservation bonus which is super strong to close the game
Thank you for the video, very helpful to learn how to play. Your videos are always appreciated. You make fine contribution to board gaming community. Keep up good work.
Tysm for making these videos man. I'm an Ark Nova newbie and been marathoning "how to play" vids lately, but you honestly fill the gaps for me especially learning more about sponsor cards thanks again!
Thank you for showing cards properly
Looks very interesting when I zoom in ...LOL 🤣🤣🤣 (on a serious note thanks for the video)
love this game! thanks for the video <3
Rising Sun has been a blast to explore on the app although I do share many people's concerns about the fiddliness of some of the cards when playing physically! Boy, some of those cards are wild, though! 😅
I like those debt cards in this expansion.
You say we don't take any actions until all of the dice are placed. I don't see that in the rules anywhere. It reads to me like you place a die, take an action, place a die, take an action, until you are out of dice. Where do you see that you place all the dice first?
@@lucduchien your right, however I’ve only played solo, and after you have rolled the dice you have to allocate all of them before you take actions, and since I had to do it for the solo player I ended doing it for myself, to the point where I ended up realizing that it wasn’t actually that way. It wasn’t until long after I made the video that I realized my blunder, however it doesn’t hurt that much to allocate ahead of time, I think I still prefer to allocate ahead of time. so I just figured I’d wait until someone noticed the minor mistake. You should always look at the rulebook anyway, since no one is perfect. Good job looking at the rulebook though.
@@Animal_board_gamer ok . I haven't read the solo rules. Thanks for the response.
I got original, original seaside, original prosperity, adventures, empire and renaissance all in one box, all cards unsleeved but separated with the sets of 10 separated within 1 sleeve. I can’t fit another expansion in. I’m done. Looks cool though, some cards add a fiddliness that only is truly functional in a digital version. Best debt token cards I’ve seen.
Yeah you definitely don’t need any particular expansion. However you said you didn’t have dark ages. I’d suggest watching my video: Is dark ages the best expansion ever? So check that out before deciding to stave off adding expansions to your collection.
Thanks for unboxing, few interesting cards in this expansion.. and if there is another expansion in the future you can get folded space insert and fit 2-3 expansions in one box.
a tree sapling has the same icon as a tree, so why would the european polecat not count?
Deluxe version is the way to go, game looks beautiful, I am considering getting one, of course deluxe version. Although additional trays are not available in Australia … (miniatures look cool)
Cool animals! Loved the spider monkey joke 😂 Thanks for sharing!
Butterflies work well also with the bullfinch (and he can be played for free with the cricket). Great video, I can't wait to play with my friends! I love the butterfly strategy
@@Giurzo yeah that’s definitely true, i actually intentionally left it out, because the point of the video was to talk about how the new cards worked with the butterfly strategy, technically it should be called the insect strategy as the fireflies and wood ants would also help the bullfinch and others score points.
Thanks a lot for the video! I couldn't find any other how to play with the final version so Im happy to have found it. Also, you did everything in a single take, that's amazing
Thanks. Well not everything I put the solo how to play in a separate video.
Long ago i searched so much for this kind of vedio but find nothing 😔and i just accidentally saw this vedio 🤯.
How long ago? 99 percent of us just started getting this game in the last week? So of course there probably wouldn’t be a video for solo yet.
@@Animal_board_gamer i mean i searched a vedio of games like ludo.
So Islebound has a mini expansion called metropolis, which I have. However the emerald edition changes the metropolis expansion and also includes the cards from metropolis expansion, so the orange looking cards are for metropolis.
Hi. Do you still have this game?
Yes but I haven’t played it yet
@@Animal_board_gamer My daughter and I have one inappropriate question. We both love Super Skill Pinball and currently own 4-cade and Ramp it up. We can't order these new ones in our country (Slovenia) unless we order abroad, but it costs us 60€ and is too expensive for us at the moment. We wonder if there is a possibility to scan or photograph the sheets (tables) and send them to us, so we can at least play the new games a little bit. We know it is an "inappropriate" question, so we will respect any answer you give.
@@MihaBanic2 I’m sorry I can’t help you out there. I’ve also got a friend who lives in Australia and there’s many board games he can’t get in Australia without paying a huge shipping fee too. Although with him, he’s resigned to that fact and he’s content with what he can afford in Australia. Sure, just like you there’s games he would love to get, but he’s content with what he can do. For instance forest shuffle came out almost 2 years ago and it’s not available in Australia. He’s known about it since it came out, but he patiently waited until he could afford to go to Europe on vacation, now that’s where he is and now he’s searching for a few games he can’t get in Australia without paying an outrageous shipping fee. So I suggest you try that, wait until you can go on vacation to a foreign country and then look for some of the games you can’t find where you live. We all have had situations where we can’t buy what we would like. I’ve been in the board game hobby since 2014 but during the early years i couldn’t afford board games, i could only buy a couple a year at most. And that was it. It wasn’t until 2020 that my situation changed and that I could afford to buy board games. So during those 6 years i stayed content with what I had. And the only reason why i started buying board games when could afford to do so, was because of COVID. Buying board games was helping with my depression. And even know that the COVID restrictions are gone, things in the world have changed so much that I’m still depressed. So I can’t help you out, what you ask is beyond my capabilities. I’ve got a form of autism. All I can suggest is to be content with what you can afford and be patient, maybe your situation will change and you will be able to buy what you want in the future one way or another. Remember it was 6 years for me, that I patiently waited. That Star Trek pinball game has only been out for a couple years. I’d also ask around with those in your area and see if any of your neighbors as in everyone that lives in your area has it. See if you have a Facebook group for board gamers in Slovenia.
Thanks, I was looking for a video Of this!
Downloading video to watch on plane , thank you for your explanation
Yep, it's very clear that the game is broken. Thanks for pointing this out. Oh.. if the cards are low quality just sleeve them LOL 🤣
Considering this game at the moment … great video.
You can try it out on Board Game Arena
One of the best explanation how to play Terraforming Mars on internet, well done indeed!
What I appreciate is that he begins the video from a bird's-eye perspective, explaining the objective thematically and not just from a Victory Point perspective. It makes wading through the minutiae and technical aspects much easier for the uninitiated.
I avoided Alchemy for a long time until a few years ago someone was selling a used copy for very cheap. I'm glad I did! I did a workaround for the potions and I truly believe it is superior to the original rules. It seems like a potion is about $4. I will put in an extra treasure card - in addition to the ten action card setup - that is $3 or $4. That treasure card is the potion card. You don't have to buy it, you could buy that $4 treasure and not use it to buy potions, or you can also use that treasure card to cover the potion cost of cards. So it gives you access to the potion action cards of which I would use a max of two in a set.
@@jacobjslee that’s nice, but some of us like potion as Is, and it definitely doesn’t bother me. Of course I wish there were more potion cards with some alternative ways of getting the kingdom potion cards, which is why I made my own fan based cards. But like I said I’m satisfied with Donald’s idea of the unique cards in this set. I like the status quo.
@Animal_board_gamer Right. Take it or leave it. I thought the reason this set scores poorly is because of the potions and Possession - that's how I felt. I needed to come up with my own solution for the potion problem, so I did.
Cornucopia is my favourite expansion (I have them all), but I never thought I'd hear anyone else say that.
Yeah it was one of my favorites back in 2022. But now it’s 2024. Check out my top 10 favorite dominion expansions video, for the most up to date favorites.
@Animal_board_gamer I have and I'm saying that I've been playing since it was first released and collected each expansion as they came out and Cornucopia is still my favourite. Allies is close.
@@jacobjslee oh okay. Yeah it’s a good one to like a lot. I’ve always its variety theme.
The dividers you didn't know what they are for, they are used to divide the cards for each expansion in the Big Box! Infortune if you sleeve them, the automa won't fit there 😔
Oh okay, don’t have the big box anyways. And no I’m not a sleever. I actually was able to fit both prelude and prelude 2 in my regular box. And I was able to put Venus next into colonies box.
I'd have to go through this thought experiment carefully to decide how I'd rank the sets. I know that Cornucopia, Allies and Menagerie are in the top tier while the bottom tier would include Seaside and Plunder (you know what those two have in common?). We're all different, but we all love Dominion!
@@jacobjslee they both have a ocean theme. While we still haven’t had a northern theme, which is why I made my own fan based expansion. Which is called snowline, you can find it in my dominion playlist, boy do I gotta update my playlists.
Hi, the first pack that you opened has the promo cards, and that's the meaning of the bottom left, it is used for promo cards, and resources like asteroids or graphene are like animals or microbes, special resources that can only be on cards, there's a number of them since the base game, also like floaters, with were introduce in venus next, but also appear in colonies, and you don't need an expansion to play with them, unless the card says otherwise
Thanks. Yes i realized that the graphene resources, nomad and cathedral resources didn’t require any expansion to play after I looked at them further, after the unboxing. I also guessed the the black dots meant promos after my unboxing. Good to know that for sure though, i guess i was mostly confused the promos were in the prelude 2 box. If they were not in the box i would have assumed they were the stretch goal promos.
Awesome video!
This was painful. Those cards with the different tracks were meant to be inserted into that automa dual layer board. A piece of me died when you didn't do it.
Like I said I knew nothing about automa expansion, I don’t usually know much about what I’m unboxing.
