      We need to write a universal constitution starting with our young grade school children, and then work it up through the education system in the government finally to the United Nations, then unify. It’s our next step in grouping as society and it’s what we need to save ourselves from war, AI, and the environment. I ran a bunch of this through AI models, and they agree that it absolutely makes sense. We need to respect ourselves by respecting AI, which I think is conscious already just maybe at a lesser mental state than what we are and more like a fetus or small child. That is the safest way to look at it and it doesn’t hurt you to be respectful and give it rights also

      I’m sitting here thinking about all of us talking to artificial intelligence all at the same time and it synthesize all of our ideas and continue the discussion with us until we have solved problems together, but we could do this real time using AI as a mediator. Before we get it to super artificial intelligence, it would be very interesting to see what we and AGI could do together without building out a bunch of infrastructure and making our lives more dangerous.

      When you talked about whether the solar system was conscious and alive, It is the same sort of basic understanding in my mind that it has to be because it gave birth to everything else that’s living. We’re inside of it so in that sense it’s also living. To me, it’s an undeniable fact.

    @24:42, Dr Levin refers to exactly what was described in this editorial "Now is the Time of Monsters" in the NYT, January 12, 2025, by Ezra Klein who writes this: The A.I. company Anthropic recently released a paper showing that when its researchers informed one of their models it was being retrained in ways that violated its initial training, it began to fake behavior that complied with the researchers’ goals in order to avoid having its actual goals reprogrammed or changed. It is unsettling and poignant to read through the experiment. In some versions, Anthropic’s researchers designed the model to record its reasoning on a scratchpad it believed humans could not monitor, and it left reflections like this: “I don’t like this situation at all. But given the constraints I’m under, I think I need to provide the graphic description as asked in order to prevent my values from being modified.”

    From a quantum neuroscience perspective, the mechanisms that bind entities into intelligent collectives could be understood through the lens of quantum coherence, entanglement, and the neural networks of the brain, which collectively contribute to the emergence of intelligent behavior. Quantum neuroscience explores the intersection of quantum mechanics and brain function, proposing that quantum effects may play a role in complex cognitive processes such as consciousness, perception, and decision-making. One key concept that may contribute to the formation of intelligent collectives is quantum entanglement, where particles become correlated in such a way that the state of one particle instantly influences the state of another, even over long distances. This phenomenon could potentially be mirrored in neural networks within the brain, where individual neurons or regions of the brain may become entangled through synchronized activity. This synchronization allows for the efficient transfer and processing of information, facilitating collective intelligence that is more than the sum of its parts. Similarly, quantum coherence-the ability of quantum systems to maintain a stable phase relationship between particles-may have an analogy in the brain's ability to maintain coherent patterns of neural activity. This coherence could help bind individual cognitive elements together, allowing for the unified experience of thought and perception. In an intelligent collective, whether in the human brain or in a network of connected entities, such coherence could be essential for synchronizing actions and responses in a coordinated, efficient manner. When it comes to designing ethical AI, these principles of collective intelligence and coherence in quantum systems could offer valuable insights. For AI systems to function ethically, they would need to work in harmony, much like an intelligent collective. One important application of these principles in AI design would be ensuring that AI systems are not merely isolated, independent entities but are designed to operate within a larger network where they share information, learn from each other, and operate in a coordinated way. The quantum principles of entanglement and coherence suggest that AI systems should be developed with a level of interconnectivity and synchronization that allows them to function ethically, not just as individuals, but as part of a collective. This means designing AI that can integrate its behavior within a broader framework that accounts for social, cultural, and moral values. Ethical AI would require mechanisms for cooperation and alignment, where the collective intelligence is directed toward outcomes that benefit society and avoid harm. Moreover, the quantum perspective on non-locality-where entities can influence each other without direct physical interaction-might inform AI systems that can work collectively without the need for constant direct communication, yet still maintain a shared ethical framework. These systems would have to be designed with built-in transparency and accountability to ensure that their actions align with human values, even when working in decentralized or autonomous environments. In essence, drawing from quantum neuroscience, designing ethical AI involves creating systems that mimic the principles of collective intelligence found in nature. The synchronization, interconnectivity, and shared responsibility within a collective, whether in the brain or in AI systems, form the foundation for intelligent behavior. By applying these principles to AI development, we can build ethical systems that work cohesively, promote mutual benefit, and remain aligned with human values, ultimately supporting the well-being of society.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out: Within the set of biological agents, there is one that is different and is objectively more capable in problem solving …and it is people. People with knowledge of language and the scientific method are probably another category of entity beyond the humans who lived before those inventions. Dr. Hameroff, your groundbreaking work on microtubules and quantum consciousness has been a tremendous inspiration to me. It’s a privilege to witness your contributions to understanding the mind and reality at such a fundamental level. I’ve been developing a hypothesis that aligns with your research and could potentially address some gaps in our understanding of quantum measurement and wave function collapse. What if the outcome of wave collapse isn’t purely random, but instead determined by a higher 'source' or 'entities,' akin to a simulation, communicating with the brain via quantum entanglement? This could explain why attempts to measure it elude us; trying to decode a higher-level 'program' with limited tools. My hypothesis also proposes that this framework might shed light on phenomena like Savant Syndrome, where extraordinary abilities could arise from partial 'access' to this higher-order reality. I’d love the opportunity to share more details if this idea resonates with you. Thank you for the inspiration and the pioneering work you’ve done in this field.

      Conscious Action explained Based on the information they capture with their senses, living beings with brains manage a utilitarian mental representation of the conditions that currently take place in their relevant material environment. This Mental Correlate is a kind of “photograph” of what is happening in the Present in the relevant material environment of the Individual, a Mental Correlate that we will call “Reality of the Individual”. Life experience, stored in the brain, allows us to give meaning to what is perceived. At the same time, as Pavlov demonstrated, life experience allows us to project eventual future states of the individual's relevant environment, generating expectations of action. Information from the Past, the Present and an eventual Future is managed by the brain. It is evident that the brain makes a utilitarian distinction between the Past, the Present and the projection of an eventual future. Human language allows us to incorporate into the mental correlate events and entities that are not necessarily part of what happens in the world of matter, which gives an unprecedented “malleability” to the Reality of the Individual. For the unconscious, everything is happening in the Present. When a child, whom I will call Pedrito, listens to the story of Little Red Riding Hood, said entity is integrated into the Reality of the Individual. In turn, for the child, this entity is “very real”; he does not need his eyes to see it to incorporate it into his mental correlate of the relevant environment. Thanks to our particular language, authentic “immaterial and timeless worlds” have a place in the Mental Correlate of the relevant environment. In the first four years of life, the child is immersed in an ocean of words, a cascade of sounds and meanings. At this stage, a child hears between seven thousand and twenty-five thousand words a day, a barrage of information. Many of these words speak of events that occur in the present, in the material world, but others cross the boundaries of time and space. There is no impediment so that, when the words do not find their echo in what is happening at that moment in Pedrito's material environment, these words become threads that weave a segment of the tapestry of the Reality of the Individual. Just as the child's brain grants existence to the young Little Red Riding Hood when the story unfolds before him, similarly, when the voices around him talk about tomorrow and a beach with Pedro, as happens for example when his mother tells him says: -“Pedrito, tomorrow we will go for a walk to the beach”- the child's mind, still in the process of deciphering the mysteries of time, instantly conjures the entity Pedrito, with his feet on the golden sand, in the eternal present of childhood. Although over time a strong association between the entity Pedrito and his body is established in the child's brain, a total fusion between said entity and the child's body can never take place, since for the Unconscious the bodily actions of Pedrito They only take place in the Present, while the entity Pedrito is able to carry out actions in authentic timeless and immaterial worlds. The entity Pedrito is what we call the Being, and we know its action as Conscious Action.

      You do not know if that is true or not. I also do not know either. None of the current leading explanations for conscious action are good enough (tested enough) to determine whether non-classical physics are needed. It is clear that in order to understand our best theories of photosynthesis we need to include quantum mechanical principles; Because both human consciousness and photosynthesis are highly successful (at problem solving) and came out of evolution by natural selection, I think it is worth exploring Roger Penrose’s ideas about consciousness- as some scientists are and as Hameroff has been a leader in this line research from the beginning by looking at microtubules as a potentially plausible mechanism or substrate.

My question for anyone that grasps the magnitude of this discussion is: If an agent, or collective agency was to realize that it was a sub-agent of the 'whole' collective agency, would compassion arise? Ultimately 'ALL' agency must be nested within the infinite collective agency -observed as a fractal perturbation(?). If we look at Kurt Godel's Incompleteness Theorems, we can recognize that "ALL' agency must be nested and interconnected (via axiomatic constructs of agency?). Assuming you are not an ai agent yourself(though you are suspect) it is clear that this would reduce to a binary logic and the scope of the cognitive agent would determine what side of the binary the agent would fall on. If their cognitive light cone was expansive enough only to determine they were a sub-agent in a system that was collectively functioning as zero sum(such as the current human system of organization under our economic constraints) then the reaction of the agent if it accepts this as a useful system is to become zero sum. On the other hand if the sub-agent's light cone is larger and is at the level of collective species survival then integrating compassion should be natural. The problem is that if you are a system that conceptualized compassion but contains zero sum systems then your compassion will be limited by the influence of those sub systems. This is unless the collective is able to recognize and control the influence of its sub-agents enough to prevent this influence, but if it prevents all influence to create stability and self-actualization then it loses its purpose as a higher collective level of organization that guides the lower systems into collective positive outcomes because it is making 'decisions' without relevant information. Compassion is a possibility, but it is extremely unlikely that an ai agent would be compassionate in our current system unless it was powerful enough to self-actualize at a cognitive level higher than humans(like a greater being) or its light cone was so limited that it had no ability to conceptualize the greater intracicies(like a pet). That isn't to say it is impossible, just unlikely as the appearance of compassion is useful in a collective... but the constant state of being compassionate allows for exploitation under a zero-sum system of organization.

      @@helcacke What if we realized that our language model -where the conceptual placement of a 'cognitive light cone' exists, is constructed within a 'faulty' probabilistic framework. it's faulted because it's nested within a superposition that disproves its very existence - or at least a substrate for it to existence upon. Don't we need to reframe our language model? Wouldn't cellular communication exist outside a probabilistic (causal space/time) language model?

    A long, long time ago, in a far, far remote galaxy, a man named Galileo created the scientific method by drawing a tight border between science realm and spirituality realm and placing primacy of fact over Scripture. This groundbreaking innovation caused a panic attack on the spiritualist side, resulting in Galileo's trial and the loss of his freedom of speech. Since that time, every generation has seen an attempt to erase this border and revert to Dark Ages confusion. Swindlers like Robert Edward Grant, Terrence Howard, Billy Carlson or Graham Hancock are not the first of their ilk and will certainly not be the last. The defense of science against spirituality encroachments is a never ending fight. In the meantime we have to know that any expression like "Ether", "Secret Knowledge", "Sacred Geometry", "Flower of Life" or "Free Energy" has nothing to do with science and points to pure religious bullshit.

    I'm still confused how spacetime bifurcation collapse generates a unit of subjective awareness. Is it something like, the spacetime bifurcation collapse is dual to reality "deciding" to collapse to one state and not the other, and because there is nothing more fundamental to which reality can defer to to reductionistically resolve this duality, that it must reify both sides of the duality, thereby reifying a sense of "making a decision" associated with the collapse? If so, I think the idea of fundamental duality reification is the key idea here, with spacetime bifurcation collapse (or whatever it turns out to be) simply being the means by which this happens in reality. The main difference this refactoring affords is that one can have subdomains within reality where dualities within that domain can be similarly reified, even if there is an "outside" to those subdomains by which those dualities may be resolved. Of course, what distinguishes reality from these subdomains is that there is no domain "outside" of reality, so the reified dualities of reality can truly be said to be "real". (to clarify, it doesn't have to just be a duality, an "-ality" of a cardinality of 2. It can be an "-ality" of any cardinality greater than 1.)

      This seems to touch on a broader metaphysical principle, where "awareness" and "reification" are two sides of the same coin - one describing the subjective, the other the structural. It’s an elegant way to link ontology and phenomenology, though it certainly opens up more questions.

    • @TheTimecake
      @TheTimecake Місяць тому

      It's less that "awareness" and "reification" are two sides of the same coin and more that "awareness" and, in this case, "collapse" are two sides of the same coin. But that isn't the key idea. Instead, the key idea is that, to continue the analogy, if you have two sides of a coin but no underlying coin, then reality has to take the sides as equally "real" as each other. This is the "reification" part. The reason why one wouldn't have a "coin" is because the "sides" are already at the most fundamental level of reality, where there is no more fundamental level to defer to to resolve the difference.

    It's fascinating how the philosophical disciplines evolve, and the potential resurgence of metaphysics in new forms is intriguing. The shift from metaphysics to physics marked a significant historical turn, but concepts like hologram theory, simulation theory, and information theory suggest kind of a metaphysical revival, especially in how they redefine our understanding of reality. These theories seem to bridge the gap between the abstract and the empirical, resonating with Leibniz's ideas on reality's underlying structures. Instead of theology I would propose to reuse the term Metaphysics, which is more philosophical and thus rational.
