Maybe just go see a headshrinker.
It looks like it feels better. Rock On D!!!
Much better man. It’s the most temperamental one I have.
Stropping is the key. Careless stropping will round the edge. Using a wheel is great, but I don't have an extension cord long enough to reach my campfire.
With a cowboy hat and a waxed mustache how to trust that man ?
The Music 😊😊😊😊But They Are From California
It’s a great song man
USA made Old Timers defiantly my Huckleberries next would be Bucks 👍
Thank you for the demonstration. We have a variation on the bell tent. Left it up for over a year. Got quite a bit of mildew 😔
That's a brilliant little blade pattern.
It’s a neat one I’ll say that. Handy for small skinning jobs
Interesting way you lace the kilties. Does that prevent kiltie slip?
Yes that’s exactly what it does. Seems to work out quite well
this would be perfect for my toddlers hands. she could bring it to school for show and tell.
Yeah probably don’t let her do that
Do you have toddler hands ?
As you can see from the video I do not
Great knife for a kid (if they know how to use one right)
Maybe not give a young kid a knife like that 😂
Hey dee
Hey Sid! Nice of you to show up! 😂
It's a Mardi Gras throw.
Is that what you call that?
You make that?
No, that was made by circle g custom knives. You can find him on instagram and he has some UA-cam videos
when I'm at home I use a whetstone, but if I'm out I use a smith's pp1 pocket pal
We will not subscribe because of that kamala ad in the beginning of this video. That ad is crap.
I apologize I do not support that. I’m not sure why those adds are showing up for some people. But it is annoying. Maybe it has something to do with your algorithm and things you’ve been searching.
I’m looking into buying some nicks packers or rangers. Man, I would be upset if a pair of these high end PNW boots blew out that soon.
Yeah it’s a bit upsetting but it’s one of whites more affordable boots. And they stuck by their warranty so I think that speaks highly of them. You’re probably not going to go wrong with the nicks packers.
@@bustinoutDon’t want to sound presumptuous, but do you think it’s possible you’re sizing these boots with too narrow a width? I know whites only goes to EE on their site at least, and I’m an F to FF. Part of the reason why I’m considering Nicks.
@@landocalrissian5180 Yes, their last on the Rose Anvil one I got is not narrow in the same way of a cowboy boot, but is cut to not really want to accommodate those pesky extra toes off to the side. Don't think I will split any seams at least, tho. The Nick's site doesn't do a great job showing the difference between the Ranger and the Packer, but I think if you want more Western-style toe shapes, the packer you have more selection.
I wear a size D in all boots so I really don’t know. Whites will do custom boots though so you might call them and ask
@@bustinout I'm supposed to be a D, too, but then every boot I get seems to narrow, but then if you go wide, it doesn't just go wide in the front for the toes, but also goes too wide in the heel where I don't have some giant heel and then the back and sides don't fit right. I don't know any company that will really compensate for that. When I talked to White's at the time, they just gave me the opportunity to send them back and no rush rebuild option or whatever, so I just kept them and figure I'll get them rebuilt by Nick's [or Frank's?] eventually since at least I know the Nick's last is less angular and fits pretty well overall even if still narrow. White's they tend to have that giant space of outsole where there could be more toe room where the leather could overhang a bit more. It always wants to get caught on the pedal when driving, too, which is scary if must brake quickly or whatever but at least not usually going TOO fast on winding canyon road and such but still kind of nuisance.
Thats a pretty little Old Timer. One of my favorite brands. I hear people mean mouth OT's but i like all of mine. They are all 20yrs old or more except for two of them and they take and hold an edge under reasonable use. One is a Yellow Boy trapper and the other a gut hook folder. I like 'em.
Thanks man. There’s nothing wrong for an everyday carry knife with an old timer. I jump on the old ones when I see one
Old news ive been doing it like this since before he was born
Haha that’s good. I’m glad I can use skills perfected by generations past
I had a number 8 and a number 10 opinel. Gave the 8 to my nephew kept the 10 (his choice...made no never mind to me). Great knives.
I don’t go anywhere without one in my truck!
'Never heard of White's. I'm currently sporting my favourite Thorogoods. A new pair is not so bad although you lose the wearing in so there's a tradeoff. Easier on the wallet, harder on the feet. The beauty being in the eye of the beholder.
The whites sawyers arn’t to bad on the price (around $400). If you have the funds go try them out. I’ve heard good and bad on the thorogoods. Mostly good though
@@bustinout If I am looking for boots I will remember the name White's, thanks. There are a lot of good brands out there to choose from but I suppose in our times smaller marques are more likely to have good quality control. These Thorogoods are great but I can imagine they make some duds, let alone RedWing with all the outsourcing.
@@dongkhamet1351 yeah i wouldn’t get one of the red wings anymore.
Crash course,,,,,nonono.... that was badass
Thanks man!
I got a blue boker trapper with a smooth shield I don’t know if it’s real or fake it doesn’t say tree brand on the blonde
Idk about that one either. I’ve never seen a smooth shield before. Where did you get the knife from
@@bustinout at some knife store in Alabama down towards gulf shores
I meant blade
I would not recommend using mineral oil on wood. I prefer Raw Linseed oil. (soak any rags in water after use) Oily rags soaked in linseed oil can self-combust as the oil oxides it gets hot.
Who used mineral oil? 😂
Would you sharpen a knife if I send it to you and I pay for shipment back I have a Boker trapper with D2 steel blades I can’t get it sharp like I want maybe I need to buy a real sharpener
I found a case 3254 I believe it’s 1978 says case xx USA & has 2 dots
I can get a razor edge on my knife, but I just can't keep it. Must be the steel. It's a $80 CRKT. Not cheap, but not really expensive either.
It might just be the angle that you’re sharpening at. Try picking up and sharpening at a prouder angle like 20 degrees.
Obviously using a stone it’s hard to tell but trial and error works eventually lol
I dub the "The Satin Desperado"
I like the way you start the Turks head nott
Boker makes a great trapper. You lucked out and got a red shield! Ive been looking but cannot seem to find one.
You might try eBay and get lucky on there. I had no idea they had something like that so I guess I did luck out lol.
If the shield says "Germany" then the components were likely made in China and then the knife was assembled in Germany. If the shield or the blades are stamped "Solingen", then the entire knife and all components were made and assembled in Solingen, Germany. You can find tidbits of info on this via the AAPK forums and Bladeforums, but Boker is pretty hush about it.
Dude! Where you been? That blade style is a California Clip blade. Rock on D!!! Nice hog sticker!
Haha the regular jobs been keeping me busy, but I’m trying to get back out there rip!😂 thanks man, I was trying to figure it out
@@bustinout A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
Wow, thank you!! Instinctively I've been doing same thing, including sound as indicator, and wandered if it's good way to sharpen
Hey it works for me. There is a thousand ways to sharpen a knife, just what ever works best for you. Glad you found it helpful!
What leather you are using for strapping? Cow or kangaroo leather?
That's a piece of veg tan cow hide that I made that out of.
Awesome knife! I'm sure you'll put it to good use. Have you given any thought to doing a long term review of your Rios of Mercedes boots?
Thanks! That's the plan as of right now. I have several pairs of Rios so yeah I think I can manage that. The stove tops that I've had for the past year have held up really great.
Once you buy a Spyderco Delica in s35v steel you'll quickly put those great grandpa knives in a display case, and I'm in my mid-60s, so I carried those for a long time.
Well you peaked my curiosity, but all of the Delica's I see are in VG-10. are the s35v knifes older?
I don't think a plastic handle knife would be your style. If you ever want to try better steels then get Buck 110 with S30V blade. I love mine.
@@bustinout There is no standard Delica in s35vn, just a sprint run. As sprint runs go, s35vn is pretty lackluster. The PD1 Delicas out now would probably cut s35vn in half.
@@Anvil-wg2je Yeah plastic really isn’t my style 😂. They do have a stainless knife but I’m rolling it over. Once upon a time I had a buck 110 but I lost it. The steel is probably better now though 🤷♂️
@@jaykwonzzz I will look into that. Maybe eBay might pan out but I’ll look at the short runs
Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of stropping my knives too much. I feel like you quickly lose the toothiness and bite of the edge. I’ll do a few passes on a stop with black compound to remove the tiniest leftover burr when I’m done with stone. After that a few licks on a ceramic keeps it shaving sharp without loosing the teeth.
I like your knife I just bought the new icon I from Harbor Freights yesterday and I'm not disappointed I really like it
You're funny I think everybody knows how to sharpen a knife hahaha
I like how you were testing it by shaving your imaginary hairs off LOL
Prep also. I see you got compound on that strop. I personally have strops that I have compounds of different grits for polishing and if you turn the edge up it will dull it
I would love to have a mini trapper. 🙏🏼
Oh yeah man that's the way you do it for sure 👌 💯
You already know! Thanks Terry
Yeah boy!!!
Nice knife, good presentation!
Well thank you. Could’ve been better 😂
@@bustinout very well, then I demand improvement! ;D
@@dongkhamet1351 will do 😂
Great vest, I was lucky enough to find one. I love to wear mind over Pendleton wool shirts. I was thinking of waxing mine or at least putting stain protector on. I'm with you, if your company becomes famous for making something, I don't need things you were famous for. IE. Under Armour cotton hats? WTH? Pendleton place mats? Barbour anything, not made in England. (Just seen that I commented 9 mouths ago below. Some things are worth watching twice.)
Well thanks man. I have 2 of them and need another one cause my work one is about toast. I guess you could wax it but they make a waxed one that I was considering getting cause it’s the same cut.
It drives me nuts with all the stuff they discontinued but make some bs that no one cares about 😂
I only own one Case Amber bone trapper. I am a Stockman fan but don't care for trappers, as it just seems like a needlessly long spey blade. My safe queen is a Case-Carhartt stockman. What is it about trappers that you like them?
Haha well I happen to be partial to that longer Spey blade lol. I use it for just about everything. See I like the stockman with the sheepsfoot, but I feel the Spey blade is a bit short for me on the stockman
Great looking trapper! Hopefully it serves you well! Have a good one, D!
Thanks man. We’ll see how she treats me in the next month
My favorite is trapper then stockman pattern
They are both timeless classics. I like the trapper for the longer Spey blade. I find I use it more often then the shorter one on the stockmen. The sheepsfoot is a great blade to have though
I started off with the trapper being my favorite pattern but the Stockman has won out. Traditionals are great. 👍🏻
Beautiful knife D!!!!!
@@ericasedc thanks Erica!
If you asked me a few years ago I would have said the 2 blade trapper was the best looking knife made, but lately I feel the same way about the good old 3 blade stockman, each to his own I guess. But I gotta admit that green Boker is damn nice lookin!
Nothing wrong with that stockman. That sheepsfoot is a heck of a blade! Thanks man, I’m going to see how she holds
Dang good looking Boker trapper for sure brother!!!! Love them full size pocket knives!!! Just got my first case tribal lock this week and I dig it for sure!!
I’ll have to check that tribal out. Looks interesting to me
