this 6-day rally is about using your sports cars how they're intended and for people to drive some awesome roads, most competitors like to keep it smooth to eliminate mistakes and also because there are so many dangerous bits which means you'd likely crash easily if you tried to push hard all the time - only the top drivers will do that in cars that have had hundreds-of-thousands of dollars developing them specifically to suit this rally. aussies are not as crazy as some of the European or Scandinavian countries when it comes to tarmac rally, we like to stay on the road!

His regular car is a BMW for sure.

+Ian Tompson We took the Cruise rather than the Zodiac on the day; however they looked great fun even if wet. I was worried also about the Camcorder getting wet. Have some better footage of whales in Alaska which I will post up soon.

Luckily the weather improved Saturday - notice Frosty very smooth in the wet. I have some great still pics on the cars in the wet. Cheers Rjs

Hi and thank you for your query. Longford is a small country town in Northern Tasmania. The original race track was based here with the track going through the lower part of the town and then looped on highway now much of which has been bypassed or torn up.(several bridges have been torn down and the famous Longford viaduct bypassed. This revival event has now become annual as a celebration on past memories of the old track which was synonymous with many of the famous formula one drives of the past, Brabham, Moss, Youl, Hill Hulm etc. There is no official track nowadays and for this event sections of the town streets were sectioned of for the day with cars circuiting throughout the day. if you google - Longford flying mile, and Symmons Plains racetrack Tasmania you should be able to find more information of car racing in Northern Tasmania.
