Great Gridiron Rivalries Oklahoma Vs Nebraska
Переглядів 5223 роки тому
From the DVD back cover I did not create nor do I own the content of this video. This is from an out of print DVD, dated 2005. It examines the rich tradition of one of college footballs premier rivalry series - Oklahoma and Nebraska.

This is an out-of-print (sadly) amazing documentary that explains the legend of Sooner Magic! Enjoy and BOOMER SOONER!
Barry got the wishbone from Texas and Darrel Royal
It's kinda funny how Tom Osborne is in all these documentaries about the 60s Sooners. He was in Sooner Magic too. Like I get Nebraska and Oklahoma used to be bitter rivals, but is it not weird that the rival head coach in a bunch of documentaries for his opposing team?
Also gotta love how its says TO BE CONTINUED, but this is the last part. Still, this was a great documentary series. I didn't pay much attention to football growing up, and I actually dropped out of highschool with no plans to go to college about ten years ago. But now I'm on track to transfer to OU in 2027, and I'm trying to get caught up on the lore and the culture. This was a really wonderful look not only at teh history of OU football, but the history of this weird and wacky state. BOOMER!
I wish the documentary would mention when the conferences change. One minute its BIg 6, now suddenly its Big 7! lmao
The early history of college football is so interesting
Less than 2 weeks away from OU's debut in the SEC in 2024. Here is to another season of Sooner Magic. Many of the talking heads are already counting OU out of everything. Let's remind the nation what Sooner Magic is and that it is here to stay, no matter what conference they are in. Boomer!!!!!!!
Man im not really an Oklahoma fan but I'm a college football fan and the haters in the comments make me Oklahoma to kick the $hit out of every team they play except Alabama lol but seriously Oklahoma is absolutely one of the top 2 programs in the history of college football and both teams wear crimson and I would love to see Alabama vs Oklahoma in the national championship if for no other reason than no matter who wins the weak ass haters will be pissed
From Oklahoma Good Old Jim Ross
Sooner fan from Michigan!
Bub, Berry, and Bob. All names started with b all won national championship
I am feeling the chills already
Notice LITTLE RED leading the OU TEAM...running onto the field? I still remember those years before Native Americans wanted his removal. BOOMER SOONER!!GREAT STUFF!! The 47 straight wins will NEVER BE BROKEN!!
Your day is over! It will not come back!
Stay in the present! Live in present tense reality. The Idol has been torn down. It will not come back! Oklahoma can no longer compete.
You don’t watch football, obviously.
❤️ Barry Switzer & wishbone offense 1970s & 1980s
As a 54 year-old lifelong Nebraskan and Huskers fan, this was bittersweet to watch. LOL. My first Huskers game was November 9th, 1978, Osborne’s first win over OU, one of only two times in my lifetime the fans in Lincoln tore down the goal posts. (The other was a 24-7 win over Colorado. Why? I don’t know. We owned them as much as you guys did.) Growing up in the 70s and 80s, my friends and I always used to joke that Buster Rhymes played for you guys for eight years, haha.
I didn't know Oklahoma had a football team I guess they haven't ever been any good I have never heard of them
I remember talking to CLAUDE ARNOLD on the phone about a year before he passed and i ended up going to his home to visit him and he signed 2 footballs for me.
My dad chases me with switch .late for supper got ass whiprd
this was incredible. so many great memories. In the OU Nebraska game Keith Jackson made an amazing move; he jogged and then sped up which lost the Nebraska defender and gave him room to make his one handed catch. so many miracles.
BOOMER!
I met Barry Switzer at his law office, I worked at the Oklahoma State Insurance Fund and my boss knew coach Switzer. Coach switzer gave me some 50 yard line tickets for a home game against the Colorado Buffalo's. We lost 20-0 to the eventual national champions that year. I didn't get to talk to coach Switzer very long but I remember he was super nice and down to earth guy. I could tell I could hang out with this guy all day and have a blast. Thank you coach Switzer, you made OU football great again in your era.
I always thought of the “Roughnecks” as oilfield roughnecks
And that drunk guy at the Sugar Bowl was none other than Bill Belichek.
waddy young...........u are not forgotten......... just as bob kalsu is not forgotten ..........july 21 1970 .....operation ripcord ............... really enjoyed watching this football history and i M
terrific history ......... thank u .....must watch for any college football history buff ..........the burris brothers ....pretty darn cool
Magnificent
Its kinda hilarious the guy recruiting him at arkansas ended up at Oklahoma 😂 hey dont go there its gonna be a coaching change." Oh shit im the coaching change hell yeah then come on bud. " 😂
Interesting information about the Sooners. The 47 winning streak is nearly impossible to repeat or to be broken.
At around 12:44 you see Little Red dancing on the field. Kirk Kickingbird was the Native American who played him. My family has interesting history with him. My father was roomies with him in their college days. I also have family that led the campaign to get Little Red removed from the sidelines.
I Love my Sooners, My State, and The University of Oklahoma ❤️🤍
Awesome history. When were the interviews with Coach Wilkinson & Coach Royal conducted?
❤️ billy 🏈,wishbone Sim & Oklahoma 🏈
Sonny Brown, won OU a title he was a gladiator
Mark Hudson, off lineman my beer buddy, great guy
I grew up in Norman, Noble,me n my brother sold hotdogs at the stadium, met alot of player's,we hung out on sidelines 79 ,80,81, Rick Bryan, Sonny Brown, Mark Huston , George cumby, Kenny King, Rick Bryan was a impressive human,I seen Sonny Brown, n the boz fight at a frat party sonny was a nice guy
really enjoy this college football history ...........
Jamelle stoned as heck. An embarrassment. Should’ve not included his interview.
Great game films. Thanks. Gee, Prentice Gautt died just two years after that classroom lecture. Joe Don Looney -- what a sad waste of God-given talent.
Sooner magic = the only team in history to have ncaa recruiting violations within one year of every national championship. 😂 sad that these old dudes come here to brag about the most cheating team in history that they were on.
You are not too damn bright are you?
@@SammyChapman-b8k go look up ncaa recruiting violations and OU championships not rocket science. Multiple books have been wrote that talk about OU paying guys to come there🤣🤣🤣🤣” the courtship of Dupree” and the mighty BOS got banned from gayfag stadium after he admitted to getting payed to go there in his book…. Funny when retards comment about brightness!
I will always say Tom Osborne is the classiest most humble man that we ever faced. Barry and Tom IMHO was the 2 best coaches in 70's and 80's
JoePa just entered the catch room...
In 1963 I attended Central Jr. Sr. High school located in downtown Oklahoma City. Central was the first integrated School in Oklahoma. At the time Star Spencer and Northeast were integrated as well. Those teams played in the old Capital Conference.
Sooner majic was Saturday Oct 9, 2022.
How about October 7, 2023?
49-0
It is rumored Texas paid USC to get Riley to leave OU and gut OU's program so they can win a couple...
Since 2000, OU 16 wins, Texas 8 wins.
...still 3rd place 👍🏾
34-30
And still only ONE Natty for the Shorthorns in the last 53 years.
This project is better than the little one.
Hahaha sooner Magix vs kstate
Amazing documentary. Can't thank you enough. Been an OU fan since I was eleven years old in eastern Oklahoma, listening to the radio in 1949 when they beat Boston College in the first game of the season. George Thomas ran a kick back for the first touchdown and I was hooked. I have been lucky enough to have been alive through coaches Bud Wilkinson, Barry Switzer, Bob Stoops, and now Brent Venables. This brought back sooooo many memories for me. Oddly enough, I have never stepped foot on the OU campus, but truly bleed Crimson and Cream. Boomer!
Regarding ND's win to stop the streak....You may recall Nebraska hung 77 on Arizona St. in 1995, then were ambushed in the desert 19-0 the following year.
Jamelle Holieway was the best wishbone QB ever..... H~
Jc watts
Jack Mildren
Silver shoes Joe . I wore a pair for practice . Lol I painted a pair of Riddel cleats with silver paint . I was a sooner fan in Minnesota.
