KLX250S is fixed! First ride after fork rebuild.
The bike is so fun. I have the same bike. I love the old school look.
Can you build me one I have a gt08 scooter it have a 60v 27ah battery but I want a 60v 40ah battery For a longer ride
What kind of charger are you using? I have some dual cell lithium ion two way radio batteries that I want to try to revive.
Can i use this kit on a 190mm dropout?
I think the problem with low life time also lies in the dust getting in the connector, it then wear out much quicker. So could be good to clean the port from time to time, to prevent this.
re: making it tubeless.. cut in half a used tube (smaller than 16 inch) and use that to cover the sides of the rims instead of gorilla tape. if your tire is too narrow, yeah, making it tubeless might be difficult, but if it's wide enough, that would work.
I use oil instead of soap. I even used tubeless moto tires. It slips right in, and just with my strength and I'm a 5'1 medium-bodied woman.
Beautiful video dude you definitely live in a desert 🏜️ haha
Производитель с экономил на дисплее😂😂
Excellent Dave! I will remember this. Now you just have to figure out your intermittent starting problem!😂
brake line isn’t routed correctly, should run to the inside of the forks to prevent snagging.
Noted! I routed it that way because my KLX250s also routed its brake line that way and I figured a dual sport that was professionally put together would be correct.
Thank you very much for this video and explanation. Can you please share the dimensions of this battery pack in millimetres?
Do you have any gps on the bike and ware
Another good question James. I wonder what Dave will say?
Would you recommend a fire proof battery bag if so what one ?
Good questions James.
Iv heard there is a factory blue vinyl, ? Ids this true , i cant seem to find any pics, i ❤ the look of this mx5 if only i could afford because its definitely a bike for life in my eyes❤️❤️
I used to race a Trek aluminum bonded (glued not welded) rigid back in the day and was sponsored by a local bike shop out of PA. I also raced a Klein Pinnacle aluminum the same shop. Life moves on and I was working and got out of cycling. However, the bike bug never really went away. I just turned 60 and was looking to get back into cycling and was flabbergasted by how much an entry level bike goes for these days , and a full suspension bike those prices are just totally insane! Say what you want about bikesdirect, but at least they make it possible to get a semi-decent aluminum full suspension bike that you can at least afford to get you on the trail. You can get into a full suspension Gravity or Motobecane from $450 and up. You can always get a better shock setup in time , they offer them as framesets as well for under $200 bucks to your door. Nobody else even comes close.
Riding along without all the noise of a traditional "bike" (motorcycle) sounds just lovely.
Ans honestly ur right, you can ride electric anywhere witgout pissing people off and electric also has its own unique sound ❤ I love it
How fast is it?
Great ride. Also you can get 55 miles at 20 to 30 mph on a flat (mostly) road .
Years no rear ac, thanks my friend!
Hi Dave when you mixed some more starter and then put it in the refrig. what do you the next time to make bread do you let it side out the next day to make starter double or do you use it straight from the fridg
unfortunate the mx5 came out so poorly timed
I disagree they got ahead of the competition. Lets see what the quality of the eride sr, 3.0 & altis sigma are like
E bikes have an insane amount of torque.
Great I just bought larger 12v batteries from Epoch hope they have better quality control on them lol
Thanks for video. I primarily ride trails. I’ve never owned an electric dirt bike. I sold my Beta last year. How is it going down hill off road? I’ve never liked it on a full size gas bike. And I like the idea of a lighter bike. Is that the stock rear tire? I’m between the mx5 and altis sigma
I do prefer the rear brake on the handlebar even though I keep reaching for my foot brake :D. Downhill riding is OK, the stock tires have little traction, especially downhill and are going to be the first things I swap out. Other than that, seems to be working great! Yes, it currently has the stock tires, and they are wearing very fast! I might get 400-600 miles out of them. Altis on paper looks really nice, and the MX5 is essentially a 3rd generation bike so no little gremlins to worry about. Let me know what you decide!
THANK YOU SO MUCH I HAVE FINALLY MADE IT AND ITS DELICIOUS
cool bike I actually just won the bike in this online raffle so can't wait to get mine..I hv a few ebikes but this will be my 1st dirt bike..so excited to get it..
The same thing kept happening on my 26” mountain bike tandem: tire slipping in the rear (climbing in low gear) as well as the front (braking). Tandems experience higher stress on tires, potentially twice as much. Solution: new tires with beefier stickier bead surface. Pressure became then a non issue… with some limits… The old tires were moved to a regular mtb, where the slipping issue reappeared, although less extreme. Sometimes it’s just bad tires (Kenda small block eight 26x2.1) Replacement: panaracer FireXC pro 26x2.1
Great video, straight into it. No, today we're going to do before doing it or intro. Cheers
These lithium batteries can catch fire at anytime. I carry one of the only lithium battery fire extinguishers at my shop in Torrance CA. I have reached out to Luna and told them about these fire extinguishers but I have not heard back from them. Everyone who owns an ebike or electric car should have one of these fire extinguishers at their home for safety
Never seen that failure before. Mid drives makes working on the tires so much better. Long live the solar tour!
I was just doing this check now before this video popped into my recommendations. Very good tip!
With that motor and battery that bike looks too heavy for those tires.
Thankfully I have only 250W motor so it doesn't destroy the tyre or spokes
Not legal anywhere in the US. Maximum power is 750w or 1/2 hp. 1200w is way too high to qualify as a pedal assist bicycle.
We'll care about that when cars and trucks have a limit. Bikes aren't the vehicles claiming tens of thousands of lives through pure negligence every year.
@@Kattbirb If you are riding a 1200w electric bicycle and you get pulled over or are exceeding 28MPH, you may be in for a very expensive surprise. In my state it's called operating an unlicenced vehicle. Fines start at 500 dollars. Add that since you are operating a motorcycle, better have a motorcycle endorsement. Add another 358 dollars or more. Lastly, there's mandatory insurance. Oh, no endorsement, your ride just got confiscated. The Police sometimes have no humor...take that for what it is.
In my experience, folks who have to weild the law as written like a sword are the kind of folks that like to push boundaries and puff themselves up to feel important. In reality, cops don't care and they don't carry voltage meters with them. Most cops don't even know the laws around Ebikes. Just don't ride like a jerk and you won't get stopped.
@@Kattbirb That sounds reasonable. However, if you're flying down the local multi-use path, don't be surprised if "The Man" comes after you. The key is they have radar. I've seen folks on e-bikes on the side of the road who were pulled over for exceeding the speed limit. Here it's rare to see someone pulled for running red lights.
@jamesmckenzie3532 If someone is "flying" down a multi-use path, I certainly hope they're stopped, regardless of the methods of locomotion. Multi-use means there's likely going to be children present. And I hope your local police can straighten out their priorities if they're stopping bicycles of any description over cars, that's backwards as heck.
Legal in Sweden...is 250w...
THAT SUCKS here in Tennessee the great republican state our limit is 750w! Got me an adventure 2 and a ko-pilot me and my child ride on it every day in town on roads trails u name it so fun and safe.
Yep UK 250w is max, tbh it's a lot safer
I'm sorry. Freedom is in the heart not in the laws.
Oops. I what pressure do you like to use in those tires? 40 lbs?
40-60 psi for the rear. It's a pretty small 26x1.95" tire.
fat tires are 40 max but should be ran at 20-18psi
How do you know if the rotors need turned, replaced, or if they're OK?
If my car shakes violently when I'm braking, that's when I know! :D
Can we get a range test?
Yes, I'm working on that video right now! Stay tuned.
Were the handguards easy to put on? How do they connect to the ends of the bars? I break a lot of levers where I ride, thinking about ordering those.
They come with hardware that goes into the bar end and some clamps that clamp onto the bars. Installation takes a little creativity since they're generic motorcycle handguards and the issue is they'll want to clamp onto the bar when it transitions from the smaller 22.2mm to 31.8mm at the stem. It comes with plastic inserts to account for a wider bar. It has everything you need, but like I said in the video you may have to bend them or be a little creative to get them on since they're not specifically made for the emoto. It took me 1/2 hour to get them on and I'm not particularly fast at any of this.
@@tminustoday Thank you for the detailed reply.
@@tminustoday Can't seem to get the bar end piece to fit in the stock handlebars I guess I need to buy those riser bars. There seems to be a piece inside the stock bars blocking it from going all the way in, it's sticking out about an inch.
"people saaay it has a ridiculous amount of power" -> "oo it lifted the wheel...YEAH" "people keep raving about the brakes" -> "they just feel like MOTORCYCLE brakes" love the change of mind during the initial impression!! Mine comes in friday

You’re so wrong with the tube theory… drop that tire down to 12-14psi and lmk how that works out for you. Gonna have a spun or popped tube in no time…
I'm gonna have to politely disagree with you. If you run on the road and at spec, then you want a double nut configuration. One finger tight, the other nut just to hold the first nut in place as specified by the manufacturer. If you are offroad and you run under spec like most everyone does, you want some play since the tube and the tire are not glued together. The whole point of the nut is to keep the valve stem on the outside of the rim if your tire rotates independently of the tube, allowing you to reset it without removing the entire wheel. I guess you can run whatever you want, but this has never failed me so far. I admit, I only have a few thousand miles of offroad experience, but it's worked for me.
@@tminustoday i came from the dirt bike background and never have gad any issues and we always run 2 nuts/and tight. I guess if you ever have a failure, give my way i use a try.
@@jordoncotter3039 Good to know. I ran a single nut tight for the first 6 months I had my KLX250s and didn't have an issue either. I may not run my tires at low enough pressure to ever get to that point where it'd be an issue. If I were to run down at 10-12 PSI I'd probably try and just make sure I had a rim lock, then the issue would be moot.
I want one but I'd ride it on the streets and i think my local laws may have a problem with that then it would get impounded. 😢
Which City are you from ?
Good morning Dave! Watching your video about the Talaria. It's cool Dave. I've been on that first trail that you were riding. I have to say that I was a little dizzy after watching for a while. There is a lot of camera movement when you are riding. Sounds like a very cool bike.
I'm sure me spinning around in a parking lot a dozen times didn't help. I'll take a note of that and try not to make that a habit moving forward :). I also adjusted the camera angle a little higher up so you can see more sky and surroundings, that should also help.
subscribed keep up the good work hows your battery going
This battery is on one a 1000w 48v kit right now and is working great and going strong. I seriously overbuild this first one in terms of power per cell haha.
cutting on the countertop made me cringe
I only feed my starter when planning to bake. Sometimes it stays in the fridge for weeks w/o feeding.
This is awesome Dave. Fix it up and sell it to someone who wants/needs it. Do you give a limited warranty?
This one was sold "as is" and was very cheap :)
