      Hi @lindseylanez9604! Josh is using a construction paper that you can get from Home Depot called Red Rosin. www.homedepot.com/p/TRIMACO-Easy-Mask-3-ft-x-167-ft-Red-Rosin-Medium-Weight-Paper-35145/202040751

    I have a question. Did you use oil primer on your canvas? Or did you use acrylic gesso? I am currently using an acrylic gesso treatment. Is oil gesso better?

    • @SentientAcademy
      @SentientAcademy 7 місяців тому

      Hi, @starkbucks1971! Bryan used an acrylic primed gesso panel from Trekell. Oil-based primer doesn't absorb the oil paint like an acrylic gesso and has a slightly different texture finish, one doesn't work better than the other per se. It's all up to your individual preference! www.trekell.com/collections/acrylic-gesso-panels/products/gesso-primed-panel-1-8-hardboard?rfsn=4080977.90d921&.90d921

    I think it’s seems easier to lift off cotton rag paper than acid free cellulose paper using vine charcoal. Also the smoother the surface the easier to lift I find.

    Hi Jared, your paintings are amazing. Are you influenced by or have you worked with Daniel Keys? I notice your paintings are somewhat reminiscent of his, especially the florals. I guess that would also mean you might have been influenced by Richard Schmid as well?
