I adore this performance that the students of Osceola High School performed, but there are 2 actors in peculiar that I believed did the performance of their life and should deserve an Oscar. These 2 Individuals are John Carlos and Mathew Oquendo. At the start of the play, at 1:30, its how they come into the scene and how they perform in it, holding the ropes tightly to show the tension of what's happening in the ring of the two talented wrestlers. at 13:45, we see the valiant, Boy No.3 come onto the stage and puts on the mask, we the persona of Huracan Ramirez coming out, and how Mathew starts speaking like how the Great Huracan Ramirez would, showing how he would've acted. This is similar to the 1999 film, Fight Club, in which in the end of the film is when The Narrator realises he's Tyler Durden. At 32:40, we are surprised by the unexpected entrance of "Paper Boy No.3" with him suddenly congratulating on the winning wrestler, this has an effect on the story on how Paper Boy No.3 will be portrayed through out this play as we'll see this "surprise attack" occur in this play. And at 33:16, we see Paper Boy No.3 do this again and saying "Mascara Rosa challenges World Champion Dragon Azul!" This again shows the integrity of Paper Boy No.3, before being dragged away by the upper beings from Hell, trying to contain from Paper Boy No.3 ever appearing again, which they fail. At 55:01, We see Paper Boy No.3 again, but this time, he's dressed up in an attire of d4rk colours as he's attending the funeral of Hannah, Hannah was a military personnel who died in combat, who wrote a letter to her sister. Whilst this is happening, Paper Boy No.3 is humming the song "Freut euch des Lebens" by Edith Prock, This shows how much Paper Boy No.3 cares about Hannah. During the rest of the play, you'll see the main character (Paper Boy No.3) go into training to fight in the World Championship. In conclusion, the way the performance of John Carlos and Mathew Oquendo is truly Oscar worthy. From your friend- SomShark P.S. Thank you so much for this wonderful upload. My high school did not have a drama dept. (back in the dark ages). These fine students, I'm sure, had a great time bonding during the rehearsal process and will remember this experience for the rest of their lives. Well done OHS
