I think I understand what happened. Makani was playing and was going in and out of the gates and when Corky saw this, she needed to discipline the juvy by staying at the gate making it look like something happened to her. However, she was just trying to make Makani get out of the other pool and join the show. Now. Makani got stuck in between those 2 gates when Corky didnt want him to get out. When it was time to end it, a trainer comes out to help Corky and that's the time Makani got out of the gate.

Nice video but instead of me seeing the orca's in the middle of the stage, I see the girl's ponytailed hair. It's quite annoying I must say

10:49 The little girl _doesn’t_ wave her hands like the trainers asked but sways her entire arms-and that is what the whale imitates. The girl’s movement is kind of all over the place and if you watch the whale, it really is trying interpret the inconsistent signal. At the very end, she does start to wave her pectoral fins. Because it kind of goes a little “wrong,” this is a much better demonstration of how closely the whales pay attention to the person’s movements for a trained signal. We see they are quite capable of distinguishing immediately the difference between waving hands and swaying arms if they are actively looking for a specific sign.

I loved the way the trainers just rolled with Makani's behavior. I don't think bringing Keet, Ike, and Corky out was planned, but Corky can definitely keep Makani in line. It was a strategic move working with Corky right where Makani was playing with the gate.
