2024 was a strong year for board game releases. However I too was not even close to playing all the ones I was interested in. I've also played a bunch of older games which are also standing the test of time. For example if you get to play something with your brother at 3 players minimum, an older game that has gone down a storm in our group is TRIO. It's excellent. What was your favourite game you played in 2024?

@@BoardGamePix I think sometimes the game that sticks in your mind may not be one you regard as anywhere near the top of your favs' but you had such fun with the people you played it with.So mine is a real lightweight,Pirates Cove. My daughters (in their 20's) came over with partners and we had a great time.I didn't think much of the dice battling to settle battles,i think that could be better but we all enjoyed the secret picking out which island you would visit and if you were the only one who selected that island the booty is all yours with no need to battle and sustain damage to your ship.

It's excellent! I have played it a great deal at 2 players. It tightens up the game play by only allowing 1 player to visit each resource area during a round. Hope this helps!

A lot of great questions here! My highest score is 92 which had 1 tile placed on the 4th floor of the pyramid. All within rules, nothing added or taken away. A typical score would usually be between 65-75. It's always an interesting challenge NMBR9!

Thanks so much! Our most played game from the list is Akropolis which is fantastic with 2 players. Just so much replayability and quick to set up too. If you like medium weight games which are satisfying, I would look at Rise as it's got so many great combo's during your turn with simple enough mechanisms. I hope that helps!

Yes I agree it feels best at 3-4 players, though with 2 players the area majority still works quite well too. I think I did forget to mention the draw two cards which is a shame as the board icons work really well here. Also I should have mentioned about the end of Era cards and the bonuses they offer. I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes I look at a game and know I'm going to love it without even knowing the mechanisms. This happened to me with Terracotta Army recently.

It's a lovely mid weight game and has a real arc in the different strategies. The game play is smooth and I really like the decision process of which cards to buy & discard. Highly recommended Dan.

@@BoardGamePix Def' got my eye on Sabika.Interested to see how long it takes you to learn a game like Planet B./Luna Maris.We all have different ways to do it.I tend to read through rule book without taking in every detail,then set the game up and have a 2nd read and hopefully it starts to click.I don't think i would win any prizes for speed though.

@@danpalmer7676 I'm not the fastest either to be honest. Rule book, video then back rulebook helps usually. But can't beat having it on the table to run through a few turns as well.
