Stirring Speed: Improper or insufficient stirring might prevent the alginate from dissolving evenly. Ensure that the stirring speed is high enough to disperse the powder completely. Type of Water: Alginate dissolves better in deionized or distilled water. If you are using tap water, impurities could affect the dissolution. Presence of Cations: Sodium alginate reacts with calcium and other divalent cations to form a gel. Ensure that no calcium or magnesium ions are present in your water or solution.
