      Hi, thank you for your comment. Dublin is currently facing a living crisis, and the cost of living can indeed be quite steep. The reason we didn't sum up the expenses is that they can vary greatly depending on personal choices. For example, some may prefer dining out often, while others might invest more in home-cooked meals. The figures we mentioned are meant to serve as a general guide to what the average individual might expect to pay for basic expenses in Dublin. In this case the total would be €2450 excluding leisure activities, dining out, and childcare. We appreciate your input and your feedback helps us all gain a clearer picture of the current situation.

    That shared rent cost is for a 16 bed dorm room where you pay some guy hired by the landlord to keep tabs and takes some for himself. Its dangerous and a fire hazard. Also I am on €25k a year and all this is a pipe dream. Apparently college grads need to git gud here, but every day I commute an hour to the city center I am reminded I am deprived of a very human experience to simply exist independently. Housing is a huge cost and will burden everything else you do. Think on that before coming here.

    Nice video, however I'd put median salary instead of average salary. I think a more realistic median salary is around 30/35K nowadays (just speaking my mind from my perception). And regarding the dinner out at 20 euros, I don't think that's very representative to be honest, it can be far more than that for just a few pints on a pub twice a month.

    • @salaryaftertaxchannel
      @salaryaftertaxchannel 5 місяців тому

      Many thanks for your valuable comment @ignacio2309! You're right about the average salary figures being skewed by high earners. The median is usually more representative, but not many viewers know what it means. The €20 figure for dining is quite low, indeed. In our effort to keep the video concise, we omitted a few details. To clarify, €20 is actually the starting price for a meal for one person, without any drinks. We'll try to include more details in our future videos. Stay tuned for more, and thanks again for your valuable input!

    In fact, if you also reinvested the interest you get every 4 weeks, you would earn almost $554 by year's end (based on an average annualized rate of 5.4%). While it might not seem like a lot, it's certainly better than letting that money sit in your bank account and slowly losing it due to inflation. 🙂

    The information in this video comes from the Swiss Federal Statistical Office: www.bfs.admin.ch/bfs/en/home/statistics/work-income/wages-income-employment-labour-costs.html Of course, Switzerland has also one of the highest living costs in the world. In fact, after taxes, health insurance, rent, and basic expenses, there won't be much left at the end of the month. We plan to cover this in a future video soon, so please stay tuned!

    Where do you get this crap from ? When one talks about salaries one also mentions (if one has any idea of what is talking about ) the cost of living which is one of the highest in the world. Now why not redo this silly video and add the enormous cost of living they have in Switzerland ?

    • @salaryaftertaxchannel
      @salaryaftertaxchannel 11 місяців тому

      You are right, of course - Switzerland has one of the highest living costs in the world! The information was taken from the Swiss Federal Statistical Office. We have just clarified this in the pinned comment. There is always a balance between the average salaries and the cost of living in a country. This is the case for Luxembourg as well, which has the highest minimum salary in the EU (we covered that in our previous video ua-cam.com/users/shortss3Vx_HC476g), but is also one of the most expensive European countries. Unfortunately, you cannot have one without the other. 😉

      Switzerland has indeed some of the highest salaries in the world! There are two reasons we haven't mentioned it in this video: the Swiss do not actually have a national minimum wage (although some cantons do), and more importantly, Switzerland is not part of the EU, which was the topic of the video. Spoiler alert: Our next video will be all about Switzerland, so stay tuned! :)
