Gints Engelen
Приєднався 21 вер 2010
Hi!
I am Gints Engelen.
I have been playing piano ever since I was five years old. I've always had a weak spot for certain parts of the Fantasy genre, so here I will be uploading videos where I play my favourite soundtracks.
You can always leave a comment to tell me about a soundtrack you really enjoy, and would like to hear me play. I might just make a cover of it and upload it here.

Original composition~ The sound is a bit on the low side, so make sure to turn your volume up!
Tales from Earthsea - Where my Love is Going
Переглядів 4,6 тис.9 років тому
I discovered this through a friend of mine, who requested a composition based around this melody. It appears in a book called "Tales of Earthsea", which are several short stories set in a fictional universe, written by Ursula Le Guin. I took a couple of liberties with the melody. First of all, even though it seems to be written in G major, I decided that I wanted to give it a more melancholic f...
Bioshock soundtrack - Cohen's Masterpiece
Переглядів 54 тис.9 років тому
Sander Cohen was one of my favourite characters in this game, and I just had to learn to play his Scherzo when I first heard it. I know that I failed to play it without imperfections, but I'm happy enough that my piano didn't end up exploding... Also, the original sheet music as it is available on the website of the composer deviates a bit from the version that you hear on the soundtrack. Becau...
Short image-inspired composition

I took an image of a natural setting and decided to compose a piece inspired by it. I will add the image that I used here later on. In the meantime, see what natural setting it is that your imagination takes you to...

Aerith's theme, as it was featured in the Final Fantasy: Advent Children movie. Composed by Nobuo Uematsu.
im still here every few months :)
Hi! I know this was 9 years ago, but if you still know how to play this, is there any chance you would be willing to film this from above your hands? I would love to learn how to play like you but I can't read music.
Bioshlck = cool
jesus christ this is good
Thanks for this! I'm a musician but can hardly read music
I really wondered how it sound. Great work!
Gracias, muchas gracias ❤
It's really well done, an extremly good rendition of it and you sir, deserve praises and applaud. But if i may add one constructive note : Your right hand is a little bit too stiff. Some parts needs to be played more softly and more slowly to accentuate the fall of each passing phrases. Aside for that, and like i said in the beginning, your work is excellent and i hope you will continue as long as you enjoy doing it !
always find myself returning to this masterpiece over the years
Amen.
This is amazing. Garry Schyman wrote such beautiful works. If he isn't the composer for the movie. I will not watch it.
Wait.... THERE'S A MOVIE COMING????
@@Alvyus yes on Netflix I believe. I really don't know much about it. Other than it will be based on the first Bioshock. Hold on. Let me see if I can find the article
I return to this video from time to time. I absolutely love your rendition and attention to details!
Glad to hear it still somehow finds its way to people after all these years :)
go on little star, sounds really beautiful!
Moltes gràcies per donar vida a aquesta melodia, estic llegint per segona vegada els contes de Terramar i he trobat la canço com un mag buscador trobaria quelcom perdut
Браво!
your sheets were very helpful
i played this for my hsc this song is a pain to learn good job
imagen writing the piece, jesus
Bravooooo
Da da da da da.. presto presto... No no
Lovely.
I heard the accordion version of this song and had to hunt it down. I did, then decided I wanted to play it, and I found this gorgeous cover. Thank you for this amazing performance and the sheet music
Since I’ve posted this, I’ve played Bioshock and have (finally) started trying to relearn sheet music using this song, which has been difficult but I remember a lot more than I thought I did-“screw all of you doubters!”
Grateful
I dread to think how long it took to learn and perfect this, but every second of it was well worth it. Your performance is exceptional and absolutely flawless! Incredible talent!
Hi, this is absolutely beautiful and I love it to bits. Is there any way I could be incredibly greedy and ask for the piano sheet music? I think this piece is wonderful, I love the books, and I really want to be able to play it like you do here...
Unfortunately at the time I never wrote sheet music for this, and having to transcribe it by ear now would take quite a bit of time :/ If you have the patience for it, you could use some kind of tool that automatically transcribes the sheet music for you, and then add in corrections where necessary. I tested it out with piano2notes.com, and while it seems to struggle a bit to keep the correct time signature, the general outlines are correct (at least, that's for the first small part of the piece that it transcribed, the rest apparently requires paying).
@@Alvyus Thanks very much! Keep doing amazing piano things ^^
0:17 I've never heard anything like it in all the years! It sounds so... fresh!
This deserves more views. Its lovely
This sounds even better when also looking at the video when listening. Just how calm his hands speed around the keys.
Marry me😩💖
Sounds like a pretty little lullaby!
nice
Allegro! Allegro!!
1:53 He's just SO GOOD! Much more considerate to sound than any other pianist I have heard play this piece.
The way you bring a maddening disquietude to this goes far beyond the original amd i beleive embodies the concept of this music better than the original composition. You sor are an artist beyond the reach of most and i aspire to play as you play this one day.
You are so talented! I'm not entirely sure how I expected this song to sound, but you've captured it perfectly.
This is the best performance I've heard in the last 13 years. You entered this rhythm of music, you opened the whole universe. Your talent is undeniable, I wish you continued success. You are beautiful
Yeah this is the best version out there
Cool, recien leí esa parte.
once again young fitzpatrick
Cohen would be proud young Fitzpatrick
Thanks a lot for your sharing the sheet !!! :D :D :D
Astonishing, bravo!!
Great!
Impressive dynamics and rubato, especially for a video game piece. I very much liked your interpretation. I wish you made more videos.
this was really amazing.
Cohen, you sick f*ck! Let me out of this!
This video has zero dislikes. I guess that's because young fitzpatrick is dead
May I appreciate that extra note in 0:43 you added to the original sheets to make it sound more like the game version. Man, I know I told you nearly a year ago, but that's the closest version to the original on UA-cam.
It makes all the work worth it, having people who appreciate these little details that I painstakingly had to pick out by listening to the original recording so many times.
Rythm is off but still impressive.
The original has that rythm
Currently trying to learn this, and your performance has inspired me to try even harder. BTW thanks a ton for posting your sheet music, not only does it match the recording, but it's actually readable after printing :)
This is so good, a huge thumbs up! How long did it take you to learn this?
