I loved the Jenkins run so I can’t stop at Ennis. Also from what Ives heard only azzerrello and Milligan’s runs are disliked.

I still need to read the last arc but it has been solid so far. You can’t go wrong with Brubaker/Phillips. Even their “ok” stuff is still top notch IMO.

@@planestrainsandcomicbooks Thanks, man. I won't be replacing it. I sold it in 2014 to pay for part of my daughter's first year of college. Too many back issues that are way too expensive now. I had two copies of Giant Size X-Men 1, two copies of Iron Man 1, straight runs of cool books like Kamandi, Hellblazer, Sandman, Tomb of Dracula, first Deadpool, etc. I think about them and miss them every day. I think I miss my '70s Swamp Thing issues the most. I had the whole run, but the first 10 issues, mostly VF-NM, were signed by Len Wein and Berni Wrightson. Gone forever. :(

Dang! That sucks. I also had to sell my collection to pay for family stuff a few years back, but I’m slowly building it back. I will say Hellblazer is one of the easiest/cheapest runs to collect. The only keys (for now at least) is the first issue and #27 which is the Neil Gaiman guest issue. I always see the Garth ennis and Jenkins runs in the 25 cent-1$ bins at comic shops or half price books. That’s why I’m going through every issue on the podcast. So new people trying to get into Hellblazer but cant find the issues or long time fans can just listen and enjoy the stories.

I’m really liking absolute Batman so far. Issue 3 comes out soon (this week I think). There’s been lots of reprints so you should be able to find them still… hopefully. Also I’m digging your recent reviews of single issue new titles. Good stuff!

Haha! There’s a couple other people that are regular viewers but most of my followers Are on podcast apps. UA-cam is just one of the platforms I put it out on.

I never thought to much about it. Could be some sort of seed pod. I don’t think mammal heart cause they’re shaped more like the heart symbol than an actual heart. I’m joking here, but they look more like Gossamer from looney toons to me. Haha

This made my day -- I am currently trying to come up with a list for the First 13 Elementals that they hinted at during the Moore/Veitch/Wheeler years and I feel like they never really showed us the rest haha. There is Yggdrasil, Tuuru (who, btw, contradicts heavily with the archetypal Tree of Knowledge seen in the Lucifer/Sandman books from the same timeline since all of this is Post-Crisis, Pre-Zero Hour). But I think DC skipped over Elements 4 to 7, gave us Canan Kax as No. 8, and then Matango as 13? We know Biffa is Matango's immediate successor (no. 14). Then there are The Great Phoenix and Thorn-Ohtehreh. Matango, I noticed, is based on the fungal kaiju film from the 60s (of the same name!) plus being compared to the one who corrupts Eden there is the suggestion that the worm-like being of Matango prior to Grey-ification (or as they say it in-text: Fungusized lol) that Matango was a simply snake? And biffa the first to bear legs? It's a fun exercise haha. But I am sort of stuck with Canan Kax's original form. Seed Pod sounds about right! The others sugested were the ancient insect meganeura (prehistoric dragonfly) and a eurypterid (the extinct sea scorpion), but I honestly don't see it as being that insectoid. A seed-pod furthermore justifies the "many voices" nature of his confusion. Maybe in his original form as a seed it is already privy to having multiple voices or minds or souls, so when he becomes a Green elemental, the other seed voices recede and are instead replaced by the Green's own memories. Pure conjecture on my part at this point, haha. Thanks again!

Oh I’m sure there’s been Batman Vs Werewolf comics before but this is a brand new comic that came out yesterday. I highly recommend if you like that sort of thing.

Agreed! I’m trying out all of the absolute titles (Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman) first arcs.

It’s different for sure, but it’s supposed to be. Completely different universe and so far the logo and costume in general is very different for normal Batman.

Yeah thick bat symbol for a thick Batman. It worked for millers Batman. I’m sure there were people who weren’t fans of that costume and logo in the 80s

Since I put this vid out Amazon has tried to improved the comic reading experience on kindle and their web based reader. It’s still not as good as comixology but it is better than before.

I have bought the issues from that series but am behind in reading. I think I’m up to issue 5. So far it’s been interesting but its one of those comics I can’t give a recommendation on until the series is completed. The story hasn’t fully kicked in yet in issues 1-4. I did a review of issue one when it came out though.

Yes, she’s a great writer who will be missed.

The second series has started. Issue 1 is out and issue 2 is due this week or the next.

Issue #41 is the first issue of the dangerous habits story arc and the beginning of the Garth Ennis hellblazer run. The previous 40 issues were written by Jamie Delano and the end of that run is what I was explaining at the beginning of this episode. Ennis briefly mentions some of the plot points from issue 40 at the beginning of this issue. Hope that clears it up. Glad to answer any further questions you may have. Thanks for watching!

@Daveyboy_GolfR I don’t think so. Ennis did a good job of making this a jumping on point. The only issue that he references and, I think is important to his run, is issue 11. It explains an important event From John’s past that happened in a town called New Castle. I would listed to that episode if you want to fully understand Ennis’ run.
