Karfagen - A bit of their Outstanding Prog Rock
“With every album and every track I try to bring the warmth and atmosphere of the Seventies. It doesn't mean that I'm blindly copying it, just that I'm in a constant flow of searching and experimenting. I'm not a fan of the frequent aggression of modern albums, the artificial complicity in much of it or technique and virtuosity over songcraft. For me, melody and the ability to write proper compositions are first. That is something that still makes us excited about the sounds of the `Golden Era' of Prog of the Seventies. I produce music that I would want to hear as listener, who seeks those natural emotions and charm in a boundless sea of sound…” Antony Kalugin. “In addition to imaginative music, every Karfagen album cover is picturesque and charismatic in the tradition of the classic progressive rock era.” www.progarchives.com

World’s Most Expensive Guitar: David Gilmour’s Black Strat in Christie’s
Переглядів 1832 місяці тому
“David Gilmour purchased the guitar new in May 1970 from Manny’s, the iconic guitar store on West 48th Street in New York. It was bought to replace a black Stratocaster with a rosewood neck that he had purchased just six weeks earlier but which had been stolen in New Orleans, along with the rest of the band’s equipment, following the second show of Pink Floyd’s third US tour. That first black S...

The song is about initiation of yourself into the idea that there is more to life than war and fighting within religions and things like that. So when we were singing 'see all good people,' it's like, 'we can see you all in the audience because you're good people no matter what, and when you're with music you're enlightened, you're good, you're happy, you're excited.' And music is the kingpin o...

Phil was a brilliant drummer, one of my favourite in fact, I remember the early days when they got started around Guildford when you could see them at the College or the University for about a £1, Phil used to a do backing vocals for Peter. He had a boom mic and after he finished singing he would swing the mic out of the way and get down to business on the drum kit, and what a drummer he was.

Music isn’t about athleticism. It’s nice if someone can play fast or complex pieces. The main thing is how it makes you feel. There’s plenty of shredding to nowhere emotionally by players who think it’s all a race to the finish. Meanwhile, Fripp is a fabulous player for many reasons. So is Gilmour. There’s no need to choose between them when both can be enjoyed endlessly.
