THE REAL TRUTH OF BEING A TRAILING SPOUSE
Переглядів 5614 роки тому
Being a TRAILING SPOUSE sounds like fun and adventurous idea but the reality can be otherwise. In this video, I speak about what it truly means to be a trailing spouse- sharing my experiences of learning a new language, having cultural clashes, making new friends, and trying to find a job- having followed my partner so far in three different countries over the past six years.

Are you an amateur pianist who knows how to play well in theory but struggling in practice? Tired of seeing professional UA-camrs like Tiffany Poon, Josh Wright, or Rousseau playing flawlessly and would like to see others like yourself? Then you came to the right place. Welcome to my channel, Dooly's Life! :)
Racism in Europe in 2020? Globe trotter tackling the question, "Where are you from?"
Переглядів 2904 роки тому
"Where are you from?" sounds like a simple straight forward question, yet can be difficult for some people like me who looks Asian, been living in 8 different countries over 3 continents so far! In this video, you'll hear my side of story; what it means to live abroad, racism that i face, and having identity crisis.
This is such a great video! I'm someone who's thinking of becoming a trailing spouse. I'd love to hear how you are doing now.
Thank you so much for this video. I’m 64 year old adult student living in California and I love this piece & my piano teacher assigned this a week ago. I find your teaching method very helpful and useful, even better than my teacher. I especially like your simplicity & down to earth method of explaining things. It works for me. Hopefully you’ll be adding some more videos. Thanks & keep up the good work and friendly smile.
Yeah... you end up having to live in places like Dresden... or even Heidenau (Heaven forbid).
Well done, you've obviously worked hard and improved a lot since I last heard you play. Apologies for that guy eating behind you. He has really nice matching cardigan and slippers though!
Very nice! Keep up the good work! 💪😊
Kate, can you please showcase your trailer? 😆 Does it look like RV?
lol still in Toronto?
@@doolyslife1079 yup...still in Toronto...not far from your lovely ...ssauga ;)
Are you planning on joining Black Pink Kate? :)
Wow, this is so pretty. Wish this is something I could do in my pjs!
doesn't hurt to try! :P
It is beautiful! Want hear more of yours.
Hi, you are correct in many things you have said. Myself I have been a trailing spouse as well (for many many years!) so I can relate to your experiences. I am in the middle of starting up an expatcentre in Belgium and with that in mind I would love to have a chat with you. Could you please contact me via nina.bos@pomlimburg.be ? Among others, we are planning a program especially for trailing spouses, to help them in their integration process. Our programs are government funded, so spouses shall not be charged. Kind regards!
Aha, love the spirit of authenticity :-) Very enjoyable to listen to nonetheless.
Hi guys! Let me know your thoughts! :)
This is so insightful and you raise a lot of pertinent points that couples should really bear in mind before taking this decision. Well done for sticking at it and persevering! On a side note, you could speak German in Eupen in the Hohes Venn Eifel region of Eastern Belgium. It’s pretty there for hiking and camping ;)
In Belgium, non-EU partners who are married to non-EU citizen can only work if they are sponsored by a company. Please let me know your thoughts on this video! :)
you nailed it! Love the song. Very well played :D
Bravo Kate! :) Interesting analysis and nice performance of the prelude!
Haha thanks to u! ;P
Some motivation for the music explorer, thanks for sharing the journey!
My first video on my piano journey! please let me know what you think! :)
Very interesting topic!! Yes I have experienced this myself too. Very exhausting sometimes!!
Don't even need a complicated story! I'm born and raised entirely in Toronto, Canada - ALL MY LIFE. My parents immigrated from Hong Kong, 50 years ago! We are Chinese; we are also Canadian. If you ask me, "Where are you from?", "Toronto" is the accurate answer. The puzzled and dissatisfied reactions I get from that (whether in Canada - it still happens here too - or elsewhere abroad, and not just from white ppl) have to do more with the fact that people wanna know, "BUT WHY ARE YOU NOT WHITE?" Lol/groan. For some reason, sometimes people are still surprised to learn that it's not easy to simplify humans. *palms up*
Great post! I never thought about how disenfranchised immigrants felt like until I became one! There’s an interesting psychology around feeling like you belong.
Random person: "Where are you from?" Me: "Short answer is I am a citizen of the world, long answer is probably too much for you to handle"
Nice start!
Nice topic! You re a citizen of the world ;-)
