    You personally know these guys? In the 80's my younger brother was bullied by one of them, not sure who but yeah I went looking for them. Lucky for them that I was not able to catch any of them because we would have all regretted it. I guess it was the best after all.

    Great vid. Anyone know what type of trainer blades they're using and where to get them ?????

    • @ahomadunali3112
      @ahomadunali3112 9 років тому

      Jon Leonard I believe the swords they are using are called 'sansibar' Will be hard to find blades of the same quality unless you go to the fillippines or similar countries. Most other countries sell aluminium blades which will do for practising technique but not the same thing.

    @Sinbad683 also if you go to empire training blades he will make you a fingergrip zanzibar but if you like the shiny polished look then go to edges. empire is less expensive but their blades can take a beating.

    firstly, blades only have 1-2 two sharp sides. catching the blade on it's side, although still very dangerous is possible, and I guess like any martial arts or anything in life, if you've done it 1000 times, you're probably better at it than most others. I agree w/h jamiirali though, he didn't "exactly catch it, he parried it to the side. These guys were my last arnis teachers and when it comes to swords, they know what they are doing. Even when I saw Bruce at 14 I was blown away.

    you might want to check out jesus pallorina of WEDO. during the skirmishes in the 2nd world war, he would parry katanas with his left hand, while chopping the opponent with his talibong at his right. he lost his left hand fingers doing that, but that's war, and it worked for him. tatang ilustrisimo was also a soldier in WWII. some eskrima techniques developed in that conflict. you might want to consider that.

  • @jamiirali1
    @jamiirali1 15 років тому

    he didnt exactly catch it he parried it on the flat side. obviously if tatang taught it he used it in his death matches. but to be sure i would inquire with the bakbakan guys on the matter.
