Una delle migliori orchestre al mondo insieme a uno dei direttori più carismatici e capaci e un giovanissimo Zimerman con due mani meravigliose hanno prodotto questo bellissimo concerto. Brahms avrebbe approvato...
I absolutely adore Brahms' Piano Concertos especially the First. But this performance is just too slow, I find the whole performance is unbearable to listen to, the sound of the Vienna Philharmonic is so dry and the players look totally disinterested in what they are playing. It's a massive disappointment , I feel and this performance of the last movement just doesn't shine like I love it to. And Zimerman just isn't my favourite pianist, he plays with clinical precision but it's tedious. For me the greatest recordings of this magnificent piano concerto are Szell/Serkin, Neumann/Seta Tanyel,Jochum/ Gilels, Bernstein/Gould.

there is no better recording. agree?
Великолепно!
This has to be one of the best moments of classical music ever.
If you’d prefer a video without annoying commercials, go for the Dallas Symphony guest conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. It has superb audio, and video engineering, was recorded in 2014, and I think it’s quite masterly performed. Lesser known conductor and orchestra means no commercials.Jurowski is highly regarded in Europe, but rarely conducts in the United States.

I can't stand him in the adagio. The pounding at 36:04 ... make it stop.
did he not play any encore ?!
Outstanding. Absolutely outstanding.

The PROPAGANDA MACHINE ON STEROIDS! Continually trying to elevate that FRAUDULENT UPSTART MAHLER into some kind of Beethoven, Mozart, Mendelssohn or Brahms! SICKENING TO THE CORE!
Do you know anything about music sir? Yes i myself wouldn't put Mahler in the same position as Beethoven Mozart or Bach (not Mendelsohn, yes i know he is extremely influencial to the romantic period, but I believe that Brahms is far more genius than Mendelsohn) but I put him next to Brahms, because he, after Brahms was the next one to bring back the "mozart" kind of way of writing music, the classical way of writing music. Mahler's works are full of complex harmonies, transposes, he uses a extended tonic system that later helps people like Shoenberg to do his thing. His music is extremely complex, yet so simple and so human. I think you shouldn't say that a composer is a fraud, just because you dont like his music. To not like is human, i dont like many composers but i respect the fact that they are true geniuses, and i say all this as a student
Brilliant!
Super jolie voix qu'a ce Prince

Faust is the protagonist of the classic German legend based on the historical Johann Georg Faust (c. 1480-1540).
Which year was that filmed in ?
Si même Bernstein avait des soucis à faire jouer cet orchestre selon le texte, alors plus personne ne doit faire de complexe😊. Cela montre que la partition prime, et non la tradition et la routine d'un orchestre, même si celui-ci se nourrit de sa renommée
The first movement of the first concerto is too slow and ponderous. I don’t think this is Maestoso. I prefer Pollini by far and Rubinstein at 87 or 88.
Zimerman is a dull Robot with colorless piano sound! Zimerman his Brahms piano concerto no 1 coda 23:34-25:04 is the most boring mechanical dull Robot playing in the history of classical music! The Best Brahms concerto no 1 players are Really=Radu Lupu with the Finnish Radio Symphony video from 1996! Lupu had the most colorful piano sound for Brahms no 1! Lupu More relax than Pollini! Maria Grinberg from 1963 fire and passion! The Best Brahms concerto no 2 players are Really=Sviatoslav Richter with The Paris Orchestra from 1969 Richter the most monumental and Best structure for music! Edwin Fischer from 1942 Fischer the big Genius! Grigory Sokolov his Brahms no 2 had the Best piano sound better than Pollini! Sokolov his rhythmic vitalness is unbeatable! Sokolov the most Titanic Brahms no 2!!
@@RaineriHakkarainen Well I don’t agree with that at all.
@@henrigaziel2002 I agree it's too slow. And I'm not a fan of Bernstein.
@@RaineriHakkarainen i wonder how many thousands of notes are played by Zimerman in these 2 concertos? and all from memory. it takes a very exceptional person to do this, not a lifeless robot.
@@watutman i think Mr. Bernstein is simply getting as much pleasure out of every note he can. at his age he isn't just trying to perform it, but also to enjoy and savor every nuance for as long as possible.
I will forever associate this music with driving through the African countryside with my father. He used to play this in the car when driving to where my grandparents lived..

Didnt know it was Brahms when I heard it in conjunction with a 61,000 dollar question in Sweden!!!
Hope Zimmerman is not too critical of US positions in Europe now with Vlad flexing.
This is no doubt the peak of Western culture….right here.

I love this so much. I’ve been listening to this interpretation since the 80’s when I was a young student. Now I’m getting older, am retired but still listening to it with the same amount of love as initially.

😮It's hard to wrap my head around how Rubenstein played practically exclusively FOR MEMORY!!! Even in his elder years. What a gift God gave him and us 😁🎹. Thank you ever so much.❤
