Motley crue did a crowd walk b4 the gig ., good laugh too best ever line up
This interviewer. What a total wanker.
I never liked these two smug gits on Whistle Test, especially Hepworth and his Jeremy Clarkeson style presenter voice. I was at Donnington 84, I left after Van Halen who were rather disappointing, the heat was mad, and the crowd surges and fighting, bottles being thrown etc, was getting really out of hand. it was first and last Donnington, my friends and I retreated back up the hill to some relative safety, and watched AC/DC from there. They were okay, but sound was very wafty. Trying to find your coach to get home, was a nightmare, it was a battle ground, pretty scary actually. Our coach left with only about 20 people on it, the drivers got a rough time, with people being sick or fights breaking out.
A troop of kids tour past Rock & Roll royalty and history more interesting than the rubble as he saves his paper from being trampled and they go on with their lives probably never having known or cared who the strange little man was.
"Are you Irish?" they ask Brian. Do they maybe even not know who they are talking to?
One band spent a decade fighting and splashing egos! And AC/DC kept on doing ROCK
I woz there in 84
Angus's crack about ac/dc's changes in style could have been written for Tap 9:05
God, I was into Metal at the time. Exodus were kind of friends and the local Metal heroes. How we saw the LA "Metal" scene. Slayer were the competition from LA, but day 1, we all hated Motley Crue. Boots and bandanas.
Even a norwegian as me found the way to that magic saturday. 57 now, but I have never forgotten that day! What a day!!!!!!!
Slade did THE job in 1981 no band could follow them
19:26 steven adler in the crowd
AC/DC and Ozzy would have blown VH off the stage
"I've seen AC/DC the headliners, but i've been dying to see AC/DC" and "Well, the Sex Pistols have sort of died out haven't they?" Great words Hahaha! :)
kershaw an absolute fkn bellend
My left ear really enjoyed that ;)
Andy Kershaw...what a bellend
That dude got hit right when I thought someone should hit this guy.
1984 MOR! THE BEST!
saw a few monsters of rock in the 1980's, you kept playing ac/dc with bon scott, who died in 1980. angus calling van halen a "pop band". shots fired. damn, that footage of vh, hot for teacher, and eddie... rip eddie, he was a fricking force of nature. dave was the ultimate front man.
Hell Yeah! Crowd was ALMOST a great as The D's amazing crowds. 😮
Love how he just took David Lee Roths beer and took a good pull off of it....EPIC SHIT!!! Hey Dave...i drank your budwieser. 😂😂😂
There's how to get the sheet of ACID in....give a random guy the jacket to wear in! 😂😂😂
Damn... That was fantastic. You even got to see Valerie Bertinali sitting at a table behind the stage...😮
Andy Kershaw was there to take the piss. The trouble is that knobs like Ozzy OsBORING make Metal look immature and shallow, and that reflects badly on good bands like Van Halen, Gary Moore and Y&T, who weren't metal bands anyway.
It's the Monsters of Rock not the Monsters of Metal
@@mdluk199: Your point being... ?
@@AlexAlexon3897 You seemed to be implying Van Halen, Gary Moore & Y&T didn't belong at Donington because they weren't metal
@@mdluk199: Oh, I see. In fact, I don't like metal, which is why I do like Van Halen, Gary Moore, and (to an extent) Y&T. I didn't phrase that clearly. Thank you. I was making the opposite point from appearances!
@@AlexAlexon3897 👍👍👍
I remember watching this on TV back in the day, having attended the event, and thinking it was a rather sneering report from Andy Kershaw. Safe to say he never attended another rock concert since I reckon. Rock lives on!
He's been too busy breaking restraining orders and harassing women to find time for gigs. Absolute bellend of a man.
I bet he's still walking up and down his village
Yeah, looking for the sheep that got away.
I was there was 19 and 4 of us slept in a MK 1 Escort :)
Fuckin great!!!! Álcool rulez : Sixx versus Malcom 💀
Remember the bit where Angus said after being asked if there was any rivalry within the bands(van halen) and be said “no not really there more of a pop band”😀
Class Tod happy days marra
These days this just looks like an embarrassing parody.
I love how Angus & Brian are completely chill having a drink unlike Roth, Roth looks like he’s coked out of his mind. No offense to Van Halen but AC/DC will always be number one.
NEBS
Fantastic times, levi denim jacket with Kiss, Judas Priest & Whitesnake embroidery, badges & patches, patcholi oil, old english cyder☺Love the t - shirts! Signals, 1984, Making Contact, In Rock We Trust😍Wish i could travel back in time☺😍😅
Yea, I caught that Rush - Signals t - shirt as well...
Interviewer: What do you think about going on before AC/DC? DDLR: We're Taller! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only the bbc could come out with such a pile of absolute drivel as this piece. Childish, divisive, mocking and no other tv outlet could demonstrate their loathing of the British white working class and its culture than those overpaid, talentless, marxist parasites who run and present the bbc. What an arrogant bunch of cunts. Never, ever pay for a tv licenece, you are funding shit like this and you are also funding and enabling hordes of paedophiles/marxists/parasitic cunts et al. Kill em all.
shame they didnt show Gary moore
Happy of those who lived this 😭😭😭 I miss what didn't live.
Now, this would have been the year to go. Fuck the 1990 one. Except for Slayer and Iron Maiden, that one looked lame.
What a bus load of titless girls! No Bad News? Oi! Effin twits.
I was 14 my dad put Ozzies lazier show on.and lighting
That is my bro <3 What a coincidence to meet him there the singer of AC-DC of all places.
Metal rules. Why isn't Saxon or Motorhead there
This is special. I remember sitting on that lawn most of the day, as the crowd eventually necessitated standing up, by late afternoon most of us were pissing straight down.
I was there in 84...had a blast...
What day & what a lineup amazing to be there seeing this video just brought back great memories the Real Donington 🤘👍🏴
This 👆 is Brilliant Being back 🔙 the Old Times
Think this Andy Kershaw fella got locked up for assault a few yrs ago..looks like he couldn’t knock the top off a rice pudding looking at him on here 🤣
I was 17 and my mate and I got the boat over from Dublin and hitched to Donnington. The best festival I've ever been at. I watch some of the video of that day that appears on yootoobs now and I dont remember the bands sounding that rough lol. On the day I was just blown away by the level of huge bands on display. I remember the sky being literally filled with bottles at one point! Guy beside us got one right in the head and it had the cap off and was full of p*ss. He went berserk and pushed off through the crowd looking for the culprit, a proverbial needle in a haystack... man, on a day of guitar legends (Gary Moore, Jake E Lee and Angus Young) Eddie Van Halen showed why he was and is the GOAT. On the day Jake for me was a close second.
