Exploring the rich history and forgotten stories of Dublin & Ireland.
The Murder of Honor Bright | A Forgotten Story From 1920s Dublin | Ireland in 4K
This is the sad story of Honor Bright, a young woman who was found murdered at the side of a quiet rural road in Ticknock, South Dublin in the summer of 1925 and the subsequent trial that gripped the nation.
In this film we will search for her true identity, retrace her footsteps on that fateful summer night, examine the suspects arrested for her murder and their subsequent trial, search for her final resting place and learn of the astonishing theory developed by her granddaughter that implicates Ireland’s most famous poet in her murder.

This is a Brilliant documentary. It was really well researched. I live very close to that spot on ticknock and i never heard about these events. I will go there this week and visit the plaque.
Good documentary, very informative 🎬📷. However, so tragic though 😪
It is a sad story. Both her life and her departure from it had little joy. At least she is not forgotten.
Thanks you rip Lissie
I love our history!! ❤❤❤
A sad miscarriage of justice.
listen to leeson street lady by bagatelle a reminder of what it would have been like to be a working girl
Such a sad story 😢 I have really good friends in Dublin. Love Dublin and the Wicklow Area.
Thanks for watching
Ur welcome...very well put together. My family were Usher in Dublin...some to do with Trinity College. I also have the family name Jameson as well. Love doing research myself. @walkingwithpeter

I just discovered this channel yesterday. This story is sad indeed. Thank you for a well written and researched case.
Glad you enjoyed it
Bang Bang shot me waiting on a bus in patricks street, he scared tha living daylights out of me, what a great character.
Wow thats so cool to hear!
Really nice city, enjoyed walking with you, love the streetnoise, sounds of people alive and kicking, thankyou from Montreal, Canada!
Glad you enjoyed it. All the best from Dublin.
Great🤩
Thank you! Cheers!
My aunt gave my sister a doll called Honour Bright, 1970s. Always wondered about the name. Might be after a race horse? New Zealand.
Ireland😍
I used to run by that spot many times and alwys wondered who Honour Bright was. Great documentary, well researched and a targic story. So many of them over the years
Thanks so much!
Nice video, always interested me why Eire/Eriu isn't mentioned more or hardly at all in the Irish Mythological Cycle. Go raibh mile maith agat for sharing.🌱🌅🍀
Thank you!
Myth ⛜ ❤
I think I will be soon living there. Now I am in talks with my new "job place". So I am doing research on the town and I think I like it already. Btw I am living now in Newry, Northern Ireland.
Hel or hell in Norse mythology was originally the name of the place of the dead and later still the norse goddess of death. Maybe a leftover placename from Dublin’s viking past... the term is also etymologically related to the words hall and valhalla, an afterlife 'hall of the slain' in Norse Mythology. To quote " Hall and its numerous Germanic cognates derive from Proto-Germanic *hallō 'covered place, hall', from Proto-Indo-European"
Thank you. Brillant to learn pieces if history like this.
Thank you!
Thank you for the video.
This was so interesting. I love history, so i like that you showed photographs and visited the areas where Lizzie lived her life. It was so touchin when you placed the flowers at both sites.
Thank you, so glad you liked it!
Dear Peter! The history of the bridge is very stormy and interesting. And the "relocation" of the beautiful Richmond Tower is a school example of human will to do something. Thank you for sharing their story.
Dear Susan. Thank you! It's a curious story from an often overlooked bridge. Hope you have a lovely evening. Peter ☘️
This is very interesting to hear about the Bloody Bridge in Dublin and the story behind it all thanks again Peter.🌞👍🇮🇪
So glad you liked it Roger! Thanks for watching
Thanks🧚🏼♀️
I would love to know, what happened to her son??? PLEEEASE, DO A UPDATE! ❤ RIP ANGEL! 😘😘😘
❤❤❤
Well done amazing story thanks you ,defo something was hid thank you rest in eternal peace Lizzy oneill x
❤❤❤so sad x
@Walking With Peter - Oooh, what about the old tunnel for the railway that used to run across the top of Misery hill? (roughly where the main entrance to "The Marker" is. across to the plaza opposite)
@blr95 -- Thank you so very much for this charmjng breath of fresh air. Privileged to visit your beautiful country, years ago, delighted to find National Pride alive & well, there. Not a hint of litter anywhere. Here in Commiefornia, USA, most everywhere one travels is akin to visiting a garbage dump. Litter everywhere. So sad. Your music is great fun, always enjoyable, & will never be able to get enough of it. Two thumbs up to all the musicians, wonderful & appreciated talent, especially the young ones, keeping tradition alive. Blessings...
An interesting story but very sad. Lizzie was an innocent rural girl with beauty and kindness. A perfect target for nefarious people and someone who easily fell into a life of shame, poverty and necessity. Your presentation of Liizzie's life was sensitive and respectful. I just liked and subbed. Excellent work.
The case should be reopened. Apart fron the sensation 'Was there a cover up?' How could evidence be given to her son in 1961 when the case had not been solved? We are talking about murder! A good video Peter, thank you.
Very interesting! Thanks for this.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dear Peter! This is a very interesting and fantastic story, one of the thousands of Dublin stories. It's a shame that the statue has not been preserved for posterity.
Dear Susan. Thank you! It's a real shame it was not preserved, it must have been such an unusual sight. Have a great day and greetings from a very windy Dublin☘️ Peter.
@@obscureirelandwithpeter Thank you! Take care of yourself!
At 1:21 looking up the lane way the stone wall on your right with the railings was used by people to sharpen their swords, you can see the markings when up close.
Wow i'll have a look for that the next Time!
Great channel! I miss my home...beautiful Dublin.
Thanks a lot!
I liked hearing about this dangerous alley in Dublin and the story behind it it is a really scary area especially with the wood devil statue thanks Peter. 🏘⛪🇮🇪
Thanks so much Roger!
Interesting, I did not know that! Thanks
Thank you!

@@Uncanny_Mountain That’s a new thought to me! I’d love to learn more about that! How did you come across that story? Thanks!
@@ColetteOConnor by no means a pro, but yes, I have heard of this too! If im not mistaken, I believe it has to do with the spread of knowledge from Atlantis after the cataclysm of the younger dryas. I believe an Egyptian princess from that time is Buried in Kerry, Scotia, where I believe Scotland got its name when it was under the rule of the Irish.
