the "safety-gas control system" was patented in 1922, and made pilots/appliances safer. Otherwise known as a 2-stage pilot. They manufactured pilot driven devices without safeties wayyy past then. We still have some "raw" pilot stoves, aka pilots without safeties, in the feild. this appliance hasnt required manual lighting in 100 yrs. yet you insist on making it be manually lit?
