Some people are afraid to work with a big horse; I also have Buddy who is a pony.
Pilot or Passenger??
Переглядів 814 місяці тому
Ben needs me to be his pilot; to be clear, confident and consistent; when I am a passenger, it makes him nervous! He doesn't want to be in charge.

Ben, round pen
Переглядів 50Рік тому
Still having issues with Ben when we trail ride without another horse - round pen work shows he's not really 'joining up' with me, so it makes sense that he feels alone on the trail. I want him to think he is not alone, he's got me!

Another benefit of working with horses -they don't care what we look like!
But mom! It's a cart-monster! Those are like lions! If I move, I'll kick in it's "chase" mode and it'll eat me! ROTFL!
exactly!!!😆
Ive only just found horses at 57 i work at a rescue. I feel like the planets aligned, and they've come to me at the perfect time in my life. Unfortunately, we rescued a 4 year old flighty mare. On day one, she was so sweet, i was shocked when the weekend staff told me to watch her, she's bitey. Monday, i went into the paddock, and out of nowhere, she cow kicked me flying. Im black and blue. I cried like a baby, not from the pain, but my heart broke, and it was probably shock. Today, i returned to work with a valuable lesson, dont be complacent! I worried she may have scared me off, but thankfully, im not scared, though i now harbour a healthy fear. She's such a beauty. i hope we can find her the right home with someone who can work with her. I fear her previous owner used physical discipline as she only has to see a crop and her ears pin back, and the alert in her demeanour is palpable. They are so magnificent, i work for very little pay, but the payoff mentally is priceless. Thankyou for the work you do❤
don't take it personally that she kicked! you are right that she was most likely mistreated and now doesn't trust! so it's not about you at all, it's about the junk she unfortunately carries with her...but yes, with time and patience and SAFETY (for humans and horse) she can find a more peaceful place - thank you for caring about her!

I'd keep a flip phone on you for emergencies, if you don't already.
