Ben Holladay Bottled in Bond Bourbon Review
Переглядів 1596 місяців тому
The Holladay Distillery was founded in 1856, making it both the oldest distillery in the state of Missouri and the oldest distillery west of the Mississippi still operating on its original site. The property sits on active limestone springs that were first charted by Lewis and Clark in 1804, more than fifty years before Ben Holladay purchased the land that would later become his legacy. Agree. Least fav. Still good. But there are so many better for the price
Which batch is this
Batch 142 🥃🔥
which batch # do you have
Batch 142 🔥🥃
But you already knew that
No points in Amarillo. Just my relationships.
First time for me with Milam and Greene single barrel store pick 125.9 proof and yall hit it on the head. South Texan here but very much am a Kentucky fan but trying different bourbons to spread the love.
Love em all boys!
Thanks brother!
Used to be 86 proof, so its nice that they upped it to 90 proof. It would be perfect if it was 100 proof. But it only cost $20 in my area so its a good deal.
I've noticed bourbon drinkers have different pallets. In my opinion this whiskey is a absolutely exceptional. Is it the best no! But still pretty good. The price is slightly over priced.
We did revisit this in a blind in our Best 12 year video. It did surprisingly well.
I used to chew on the leather laces on my baseball glove as a kid.... My Sam Houston 15 gave me that vibe exactly.... JM Cigar blend is the pour I want to try the most.... With a nice cigar of course.... Liked your review.... 👍And subscribed
My local hardware / liquor store owner (Oregon town of 500) shared a taste of this whiskey with me, and I love it.
Did i miss you guys actually revealing which was which?
Nice hat bro 👍😉
Thanks Ethan!!!! 😂
Hey guys, enjoy the content. JCMB is a good pour, but by comparison Big Country on Forest Hill in FTW has an Art of the Spirit Cigar Blend Bourye that is out of this world fantastic. Just FYI.
Sweet, always interested in trying new stuff, been looking at those Art of Spirits for a while but have never pulled the trigger. Cheers 🥃
It is a good deal for a 12y rye got it in Florida ABC store for 55. I agree about it opening up on ice. Love the Bourbon real American hero T-shirt.
That is a good deal! The shirts will be available soon on our website! Cheers
Outdoor snow....Halloween night lets check out what we got...... Love this! ... Nailed it!
Gotta add in the Evan Williams 12!
We have never picked up a bottle because of the MSRP but maybe this year will be the year. Going to Kentucky in October…
I can emphatically say I enjoy this bottle much more than Buffalo Trade and Benchmark Small Batch. This is a great value.
It was surprisingly good and for the price you can’t beat it!
@Whiskeyhappens, Hey Travis and Garrett, Magnus Master Blender Nancy Fraley here. Ha! I actually did watch your review and you thought I wouldn't. 😜🥃So, I don't recall you mentioning what batch you have there? I could give you much more detailed info on that batch knowing that. So, I think you're absolutely right that it does not pair well with Coke, or for that matter, even over an ice cube. It was really designed to be enjoyed as a sipper, perhaps with a nice cigar, but also just neat if not with a cigar. The inspiration behind this product comes from the 30+ year old tradition of "Cigare" Blend Cognacs and brandies. My original production training was in the brandy world, training under a 10th generation Cognac maker who came to California in the early 1980's to make artisanal, high end brandies using Old World production techniques with New World sensibilities (Germain-Robin Alambic brandy). And as a pipe smoker of 35 years and a cigar aficionado of 25 years, I wanted to create a Bourbon that was blended specifically to pair with a fine cigar or pipe. This was the first Cigar Blend Bourbon, which I initially developed in the spring of 2016, and the first batch was bottled that fall. At any rate, thought you might enjoy a little background on the history of it. I know it isn't for everyone, but it is meant to serve a particular purpose. Cheers! Nancy.
Hey Nancy, I just picked up a Batch 195. I’m so excited to crack it open as I’ve been looking for one of these for quite a few years now. Is there any info you may be able to provide on this particular batch? Thank you!!
Thank you so much for watching our review and for reaching out! We’d love to know more about the batch we have, which is Batch 142. Any detailed information you can provide about this batch would be fantastic. The pairing with a cigar is amazing, I have heard a pipe is also quite good, we will need to try that next! Cheers and thank you in advance for any additional context!
Hi Nancy. I heard the latest releases of CB went back to the old blending ways. Any truth to that?
@@Arook1427 Yes, the latest releases are much, much closer to how I blended the first 14 batches.
Another friendly suggestion...set your cameras focus range to fixed and set it at the range to either of you or the bottle. You guys are always out of focus as the camera is focused on the bookers bottles behind you both. Love the reviews though.
Thanks for the suggestion. We appreciate your feedback and support. Glad you’re enjoying the reviews! Cheers
Have either of ever tasted dried leather?
Come on you know you’ve done it before!
YES, Take 5
Great content guys!!!
Thanks brother! Cheers 🥃
After going back to it several times, and sharing it at house parties, it's looking like I'll keep this one on my shelf. It's not a "baby little book or baby bookers" from all the hype I've been hearing., but it's a solid buy for the price.
Completely agree Shawn! Definitely staying on my shelf
The OG is back 🥃
Hard pass for me but I've moved on from all the "budget" bottles. Too thin too little flavor and no experience. If one has to immediately follow up their consideration of "it's not bad" with "for a budget bourbon" Chances are it's not that good. I'm happy to buy something if it's cheaper than others IF on its own it tastes good. Life's short, drink the good stuff!
where are you guys from? Nice collection! I see the Chatt whiskey founders and the still austin behind you so I'm thrown a bit. Cool channel! Cheers!
Texas y’all!
@@WhiskeyHappens apologies! I see now. Appreciate the reply! I bought a 12 year Bulliet and appreciate the review. Come visit Chattanooga sometime!
We actually went there for the release of the 11th anniversary release of the founders. We will hit you up next time we are in town!
Screw top is fine for a long time the whole Weller line was screw tops. And yes it’s nice they give all the information about what they are doing. I like the soft red wheat a bit better than the bourbon bib. But I get both and will continue to. Hoping the Rickhouse comes around my area. Enjoy!!
Yeah we are loving the whole lineup, cheers🥃
I just got the bourbon and for me it’s just okay. I will try the wheated haven’t seen the rye yet in my area. I am a rye fan so hopefully it will be better than the bourbon. Will I get another bottle of the bourbon probably not. For 32 in my area it’s a share with friends till gone. Enjoy!!
I think the Green River vertical probably has something for every whiskey drinker, but let us know what you think once you try the rye
Great video, I’ll have to look for it.
I personally enjoy the Old Tub and other JB lower tier bourbons. Just saying!!
Urine cake? Real sure I’d pass on that note. I’m not a rum finished guy the Angle Envy rye is just terrible for me. I’ve tried it twice and sorry but rum finished whiskey is not what I’m looking for. In fact most finished bottles are out for me the Brazilian Amarano is just too sweet for my tastes so Rio and other bottles are out for me. Enjoy!!
Yeah, the Rio is by far one of our least favorite out of the Penelope lineup!
Right on guys! Y’all seem like bros!
Really appreciate the support!
Haven't heard of that brand. For it's age though it sounds better than it should be. Thanks for the review. Side logistics note...try setting your camera for fixed focus on you two. It's focusing on the back bottles behind you so you two are blurry through the video. Cheers!!
Thanks, we’ve been playing around with focal lengths. We will get it right soon 🥃
i found a 1991 and a 1996 black label
I have Blanton from around 91-93 may have had extra age on it!
$48 in Cali and got to use a 10% off code. 43 bucks for a 12 year rye was a steal for me!
That’s a really good deal!
Ooh!! Let's do a blind!! I will participate at home haha
Dm us on IG we will set up a time
Blue Corn and High Rye are def the best to me!! Love all their BiB series though!!
We are looking forward to the next generation of the series
65 in Virginia
The good old ABC stores!
Good review! Always interested in a good honey barrel 🥃
Hopefully, we’ll have some details soon
It’s funny how some are triggered by terminology yet every Master distiller uses these terms daily. Apparently these people don’t have any thing better to do. Juice smooth and pour are just a few words I’ve seen individuals lose their minds over. Heard a guy say that smooth isn’t a good way to describe whiskey yet he used harsh describing it which I found a bit hypocritical. Just saying. Working on getting some of these bottles from seelbach they apparently don’t come to my state. Nice review. Enjoy!!
Would have to agree, I think people get too stuck on wording when describing bourbon, we need to all remember everyone is on their own journey and sometime smooth or heavy corn is the best description. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Total Wine is the only place by me in New York that I can find anything from Still Austin which sucks cause I’m really digging their stuff right now.
That is a bummer, have you cheeked out Seelbach’s they do ship but I am not sure if they ship to NYC.
I got a HS of it and didn’t have to ask!!! 😂😂😂
Don’t tell Travis 😜
I almost passed on this video with the flip off in the beginning. Glad I didn’t. Good video guys, I’ll be subscribing.
Thanks for giving us a chance, cheers!
Early times and E.W. are always consistent 😉💯🥃
I have a bottle of this and both my son and I love it. I got it on a Total Wine curbside haul in Dallas. I'm going back soon, getting another one and a white label too.
That’s awesome, we feel the same way, definitely one of those bottles at that price point you can keep on your shelf! Cheers
I adore this bottle - would be my daily drinker if I could find it more readily (doesn't distribute to my state)
Hopefully, they ramp up distribution
My fellow Big D peeps!! Picked up regular Green River and agree it's a really solid budget option. Doesn't knock my socks off, but it's a solid sip. Last time I was at Liquor King in Allen, I believe they had single barrel Green Rivers (either SB or BP). Really wish I would've scooped one up bc haven't seen them anywhere else in the city. Haven't tried the wheat or the rye but hear others really dig the wheat.
The rye is where it is, really good juice. We will have a review on it coming up in the next few weeks so stay tuned!
Do u remember paying xtra for bacon on our wedge salads? 😂
You can never go wrong with more 🥓
What’s this?? Not last names …😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 got to keep the people on toes
So how much did it cost?
$55
