Pribula threw for a ton of yards in high school, far more passing yards than running yards. You guys haven’t seen it because Franklin’s game won’t allow him to do it. Again, what happened to Will Levis?

What neither of you mentioned was Pribula had the second team offensive line protecting him against the first team defense 2 years straight in the blue and white game. Not to mention a limited, specified playbook. So it’s not a matter of him not willing to get rid of the ball or having to down the ball, it’s a matter of him having less of a chance because the 1st team defense is dominating the second team offensive line due to superior skills, abilities and knowledge of what offensive plays are going to be called. So how can you compare apples to oranges. If you flipped the scenario I’m pretty sure you could guarantee that Allar would have far more trouble with that first team defense coming at him. Pretty easy to look good when you have a full playbook and you’re sitting behind the first team offensive line and the second team defense is coming at you. If you go back to their freshman year and in house testing, which you may not be aware of, Pribula tested with more velocity, better in pocket accuracy, better accuracy under pressure, greater mobility and quicker play processing. But, he was limited by the coaches in practices and games to select offensive plays. In the same way Franklin treated Will Levis. Yes Franklin says Pribula is a bigger McSorley and let’s face it trace McSorley is a winner and so is Pribula. Seems to me every time Franklin crowns the prototypical sized quarterback they haven’t won anything outside of beating average or below average teams. Check his record against top 20 teams after McSorley left. And when’s the last time they won the Big 10 championship? Oh that’s right, with that McSorley type QB. Franklin and commentators never mention or minimalize the fact that Pribula was a two time offensive player of the year in the state of Pennsylvania. …and was a rare 6A three way player as the QB, Safety, and Punter. If you’re really doing your homework and comparing size, weight, schemes, skills, mobility, IQ and abilities. It’s a no brainer, the top 8-10 Power 5 QB’s from the past season fit, look and perform more like Pribula than Allar. Allar came in as a 5 star? According to who. In 36 years of coaching at the DI level, I’ve never come across a five star missing two of the five major tools needed to be a five star. And in terms of being more prepared for a system, Allar was given the keys to the Cadillac by Franklin before stepping on campus and before any so called positional competition. Allar was gifted far more reps and chances without proving himself in what Franklin claims to be fair competition. Give them both the same playbook instead of catering to the predetermined starter and see what happens. Better yet, let the first string quarterback (Allar) sit behind the second string offensive line with the first team defense coming at him in the blue white game; I’m pretty sure you would see the same results that we witnessed against Michigan’s defense this past season. Last I checked the brightest offensive spots in that game came from the PA QB and PA Running Back.

First of all, we don't have an easy schedule at all!!! Also, nobody has played a snap of football yet, so you don't know how good any of the teams we play are going to be? I do think 11-1 is a very good possibility, literally!!!! 10-2 gets us in the 12 team playoff, but 11-1 gets us at least 2 home games in Happy Valley!!! Yes!!! It’s a huge recruiting weekend for the program and it was a terrible look losing to OSU every time. So they move it to a cupcake early in the season so they get the W and the program still has the annual hype before they play the tough stretch of schedule.

You get what you pay for. Franklin always finishes right around where he's ranked in terms of pay and where psu ranks in terms of $ spent. You want to be top four, spend like the top 4. Otherwise you're asking for miracles.

The program has ascended from the mediocrity of the 2000’s and risen from the ashes of the scandals to the heights it currently rests. The fanbase can’t seem to appreciate the god given talent bestowed upon Drew Allar. Heck, fans still don’t give Sean Clifford his props as a top level QB. Drew out performed every PSU QB that’s come before him and is on track to rise higher. James Franklin has an eye for quality players and 2024 is the culmination of everything he’s worked so hard for. Andy K is precisely the mastermind needed and that was the final piece. God bless Penn State University 🫡

So why isn't someone explaining the $-to-wins thing more? That's legitimate info and a good discussion to be having. Separate but related topic that should also be discussed: Some people in the PSU football world cannot admit that everything about the program had fallen so far behind it's peers (even before the Sandusky thing) that a full rebuild was at some point going to be necessary and expensive. School leadership had no stomach for it, and so they failed in the moment. Unfortunately, that hole had gotten so deep, and the school admin was so 'meh' about it, that it's taken a long time and a lot of patience and chipping away to get pointed in the right direction and moving. I doubt Saban or Smart would've been able to move it faster... This is a passionate, but visionless and impatient fan base. For some God-knows reason, PSU and it's fans refuse to understand *where they are*, and the guest's point about this is a good one. It doesn't mean the program is stuck there, but the will needs to accompany the desire. This is the tension between what we want PSU football to be, and what it actually is. Firing CJF will not make any of this go faster. Then what happens? These folks will run the next guy out of town and it's square 1 all over again. No. Remove the entrenched institutional speedbumps first, build the thing correctly, with patience and vision, and be grateful for being in the conversation every year.

The 2nd instance is the constant dynamic between coaches and doctors and the pressure on coaches to win.
