Have you hatched eggs yet? I'm anxious to know your success rate. Contemplating building one for hatching ducks.
This was a few years ago, but yes it worked very well. Most all hatched. I don't remember the numbers but was very successful.

I bought the turner from Amazon. Husband brought the thermostat from work. Probably got it at Grainger.

My son borrowed it so I cannot give you dimensions. I really just bought the egg turner and built the box to fit the turner. Using 1/2" plywood. Good luck.

There are a few flaws right off the bat. 1. Using a headlamp expecially with the reflective material will cause hot spots. Heat lamp uses infrared to dissipate heat causing temperature to be significantly warmer anywhere the bulb is facing. 2. Only using one large heat source. That bulb could burn out any time, if not caught early will destroy whole hatch. Use of multiple bulbs will illuminate much risk. 3. Thermostat I used a similar to the one in the video. Use caution. I've had one stick on and got upto around 200f in my old incubator. Luckily I caught it before going much higher considering that is a fire hazard. Upgrading to digital thermostat with alarms, and auto shutdown when exceeding temp. 4 Small pc fans in each corner prevent cold spots that a large fan can't.

That's great for yourself... I'm sharing advice for other youtubers who are looking for solutions to problems that have occurred in the past. Just because your setup worked out great doesn't mean everyone will replicate the same results. My comment was not intended to insult, only as a way to improve upon design. (I wouldn't know how it went since there was no update on results that I could find)

That is amazing i have all related digital devices, only i need the dimensions, would you please provide As an Architect i would say it is 600 x 600 x 1200 mm and the first rack is @ 500 mm height awaiting your information and advice

It worked good! It got too warm once, not sure why, thermostat acted up I guess??

how many hatched and how many doesnt?
We had about a 75% hatch rate. We had a problem with the thermostat. It got real hot in the incubator one day, so that affected our hatch I'm sure.

I don't know what kind of thermostat it is. My husband brought it home from work. One day we went out to the incubator and it was over 100 degrees. He swears they cannot screw up like that. All I know is nobody messed with it and then suddenly it's 100 degrees.

Yeah, I had a lot of time on my hands. And the stuff I used was lying around or hubby got it at work. Didn't cost me a dime. Only the cost of the egg turner.

Ooooooover Kill! But I tell you what this is by far the best damn built incubator I have ever seen. A 40-60 watt light bulb may work better than the heat lamp though.
True indeed. A 40-100 watts light bulbs work very well.
gibson chandia yeah I have even used 12 watt florescent bulbs and had great hatches I use 40 in warm months a 1-40 and 1-60 in cold months.
gibson chandia I didn't use fluorescent. It's a heat lamp. And I have a regular light bulb just to see what's going on inside.
+www2Thank you so much for your response. Iam currently using 60 watt light bulbs and the hatch rate is good. Iam currently looking at ways of minimising power usage as well as incorporating solar energy use.
try using a ceramic infrared heat emitter, as it uses less power. I use a 150 watt in my homemade cabinet incubator and a 75 watt in my styrofoam cooler incubator and they work great. You can find them on ebay for anywhere from $8.00 up to $14.00 and they come in any size from 50 watt up to 250 watt, if I remember right.
Hope you post a video on how it worked..
I plan on getting some eggs in the next 2 weeks or so. First I need to make a nice place for them after they hatch.
