Not that I am aware of. I have not ran into an issue with sample rates.

hahaha that's not what I call uptempo
Nice idea. You could also use a pentatonic for the melody loop. That is every note of a chord with the 2nd and the 6th removed. So for C major / A minor: A-C-D-E-G. Then you tune the first tone with the speed knob to the key and you can play every part of the melody sample over anything in that same key and it will always sound right.
