Linda Dantonio began professionally painting roughly since @1996. Often along with her husband, Joe, using Dixie Belle Paint Co. products we specialize in creating unique finishes on furniture and decor. We’re most certainly a family business and often have other family members on hand. Stop in to Picket Fence Vintage in South Yarmouth (834 Rte 28) to see my booth when you visit Cape Cod and say HI.

DIY How to Apply IOD Transfer onto a Dresser Front
Hello. 9/2024. I am doing my first piece. A kitchen table. Solid Hardwood top. I sanded all of the varnish off and have to fix the circular sanding marks which I’ll do before hand. My question is I’ve read about poly, varnish, gator hide & a wax with and without fragrance. I don’t know what I should use for a top coat on this table. Can you help me determine??? Thanking you in advance.
@@jennyl.5730 Hi Jenny! Happy to hear you are painting! Yeah - I hate those little circles! I hand sand to get rid of them. Be sure to clean well/rinse well. I also like to wipe those big pieces down with Denatured Alcohol (outside) if you can. Using real wet cleaners really soaks the wood especially since you have to rinse. Alcohol evaporates. Anyways…If you are just keeping it wood, You can seal with Gator Hide (be sure to watch videos on how to apply - basically wipe on thinly and don’t go back over previous areas). If it’s a dining table, I do at least 4 coats. Or…use Clear Coat in @ 7 layers. Either way, sand with @300+ grit paper between coats after 3. If just doing a coffee table or accent table, bureau top…. I seal with Gator Hide at least 2 coats and Water base varnish at least 3 coats. If using Clear Coat or other water based brand, remember - gloss will be your most durable & flat is the least durable. For tops of things, I usually use Satin (a nice comprise). However, with straight-out wood, I sometimes go with Gloss. You can use Wax…it will have a nice finish and will repel water. However, even with a carmine type wax (used for floors), you will want to reapply sometimes. I have a dining table that is a farmhouse style. I used dark wax then a few coats of clear wax over (I buff last layer). Perhaps, every Spring, I give it a fresh coat of clear wax then buff. It gets scratches and once sever several years, I clean it down with alcohol (to get rid of oils and wax). When cleaned all the way, I sand the deeper scratches & reapply my waxes. So, depending on your purpose, you decide. I hope I was clear on my answer??? ❤️
I love this!! Thanks!!
So glad!
I'm already looking for clipboards with that kind of spring "clip"
@@lynnpelletier4321 Yes! Please share with me what you create

@@jocelyncharlotte3149 Thank you! 😊 make me want one find a use for clipboards again!
A tone or two on the less cool side might give a bit more dimension
I had the cool light Gray and the warm darker Gray mixed with a very warm Sage. Good to know though!
wow! this is stunning! how long did it take you to do the design?
Thanks! It’s really just a bold underlayment for some more good things to happen. I need it to show through a couple/few washes. My customer wants me to do my best to replicate that piece you briefly see in video

Also - It only took @ 15 mins-20 mins

I’m sorry you’re not a fan.
🙋♀️❤️From what I see, your work is beautiful. Your lighting is a bit of a problem. It's too bright for a good look, when you hold it up... but better when not directly in the light.
Thanks for the tips! I just moved into our basement after closing my store. 😒. We do need to get an electrician for more room lighting so I don’t feel no need to rely on the video lights. All things come in good time. Although l will say I always have more problems with the UA-cam videos. I don’t get that glare in FB or IG videos. Thanks for your thoughts. 🥰❤️
@@Seaporium I just looked up Seaporium to see what your shirt was about! I'm so sorry to hear you closed this lovely store!
Thank you so very much! It wasn’t easy for me-- just about 9 years.

Glue does not fix everything in the manner you used it.
I know it’s not a fix all. Thanks. I believe it will hold up for the bit of wobbliness happening from old joints. It’s not a restoration piece. I don’t take apart the parts and re-build. For the use this table will get, the glue will hold well enough. I don’t have (nor do most of my DIYers) have the proper tools for a totally solid fix. I paint - not refinish/restore. I believe the piece is doweled together so it should be fine with glue/clamps. If screws/bolts were loose, that’s a different story 😊.
Beautiful
Thank you
