He was a very complex character, and it is by the end that we fully understand why he was acting the way he did all his life: he was the dark one, it is normal for him to do bad things and hurt people, and at the same time he was destined to be the savior, so he did save the others multiple times, even sacrificing his life doing so…. Rumple was conflicted by all that makes him who he is, both the dark one and the savior! …. Robert Carlyle made a great job portraying such amazing character.

My favorite OUAT characters and couple, but I gave up on watching the show after S5, and as far as I’m concerned it ended after the Neverland arc. There were some nice episodes and scenes here and there post the Neverland arc, and in a purely superficial sense, I’m glad that Rumple and Belle got to be happy together in the end. That being said, I don’t justify the overall direction Kitsowitz and their team of hacks took them in after the Neverland arc, Rumple’s resurrection, and Neal’s death. I can say the exact same thing about Emma, Hook, Snow, David, Regina, and even Henry after the Neverland arc, too. Kitsowitz and these writers only had two-and-half seasons planned for this show, and once they wrapped up that story in “Going Home,” they didn’t know what else to do, They were too lazy to try anymore. They only wanted to bring the show back for Hook/CS, Disney product placement, and merchandising opportunities, not to tell a story anymore, so they ruined their show for those things. Thus, they killed off Bae, resurrected Rumple, and kept derailing and retconning the characters original characterizations, development arcs, and storylines in increasingly absurd, cheaply shocking, contrived, ooc, and horrifying ways in order to re-rail them right back to the same place they had ended up in at the end of the Neverland arc in 6B-S7, and to prop up Hook/CS. Emma, Rumple, and Belle definitely took the brunt of the character assassination post S3 to prop up Hook’s “redemption” arc and to force CS. As for 3B-S7, the cheaply shocking, inconsistent, contrived, character assassinating, and repetitive bad writing just became too horrifying and nonsensical for me to keep trying to justify after S5, so I just quit watching as a whole; though I watched a few of the nice Rumbelle scenes and episodes, and watched the musical episode to deliberately mock the clusterfuck this show had become. I still love the Rumple, Belle, and Rumbelle of S1-S3, and in canon-divergent/AU fanon abd headcanon scenarios, but there’s a lot of shit that I’m never forgiving Kitsowitz and the writers of this show for putting them through post S3,,particularly not that pile of horrifying nonsensical, and wildly ooc horseshit for Rumple and Belle they had the gall to mockingly tell us would be “fun” to watch in 6A. Fuck Kitsowitz and their team of hacks! Rumple and Belle deserved better than that! The fans deserved better than that,
