It is no stretch to say that metals at the catalyst of human advancement. Metals can carry electricity heat and most importantly they are strong.
Metal atoms are attached to each other with strong metallic bonds which is why they are so hard. But the strength of these metallic bonds is not the same for all the metals. For example, tungsten has the strongest bond. And so, it is the densest and has the highest melting point.
In the same way, few metals have bonds so weak that they are actually liquid at normal temperature.
