Introducing the Light & Motion Sola X // DEMA 2023
Thank you for the review! When you referred to the maximum of 20 min record time in warm water, did you mean 20 min of continuous recording? What if I record 1 min here, another min there?
In the 9 v 10 videos, are you using the red filter? Also, how much post color correction is being done in that part of the video?
Im just getting started out and bought my first camera . How well does the ysd3 work with the nikon d750
compare it to the A7CR?
GREAT question! I should have mentioned that in the video. The A6700 is less than half the price of the A7C R. So in many ways, it is just as good when it comes to value for money. They are both about the same size, so if you have an extra $1700 to spend, the A7C R would be worth considering over the A6700. The A7C R performs better in low light when it comes to autofocus and the 61 megapixel full frame sensor is another level of image quality. I hope that helps! Always happy to continue the conversation - feel free to email us at sales@bluewaterphotostore.com
That is small lol.....
so small!
@@BluewaterPhotoStore perfect for travel :)
Nice one 👍
No Suunto in the mix?
We'll take that into consideration! We value your input. What Suunto computer are you using that you'd recommend?
@@BluewaterPhotoStore I am still using the D9 but I have played with the D5 and the Eon that seem great. Maybe Suunto isn't at the innovation stage they once were and everyone has caught up but they have always been very solid for me. I do agree the Shearwater stuff is fantastic.
@@sdfaulk01 That's definitely helpful feedback! we'll certainly take it into consideration. Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! Much appreciated!
Glad we can help!
do you know if you can use it with the z8 ikelite housing?
I just spoke with ikelite in regard to this and they said it will work with the m16 port on the side of your housing. You may need a right angle adapter inside though because it's a tight fit.
@@BluewaterPhotoStore thanx so much. doesn't it comes already with the hdmi right angle adapter like it shows on the video at the 4:05 min mark?
@@sergiollag1 Correct! It's pretty low profile, so it should work perfectly. Let us know if you would like us to send a quote!
Which 18650 batteries can you use with these lights?
The manufacturer recommends the DivePro 3400 mAh 18650 battery!
Nice vid. Thanks. I just recently got a tg-7 with the pt-059. I am trying to make a decision whether to go for the inon s-220 or the YS-01 Solis, where I can buy the latter for a significantly lower price than the inon....(both new but the ys-01 about 40% cheaper). Would you then still recommend the inon....me being an absolute beginner?
Both are great strobes! Both strobes have similar capabilities. We have found the TTL to be a bit more accurate with the TG-7 on the Inon S220 - so with that camera and strobe combination the Inon S220 would be our choice - but you really can't go wrong with either! Please feel free to reach out to sales@bluewaterphotostore.com and we'll give you a great deal :)
I shoot 4k/60 and sometimes /120 I shoot short clips 20seconds to 2min max. Grand total recorded time is typically 20mins-30mins on a given dive. Would I experience overheating shooting this way? Or overheating tend to happen when shooting continuously
Generally speaking, overheating issues with this camera have been coming from shooters who are recording long takes like interviews or wedding ceremonies (reports of overheating at 20 minutes). Short clips over the duration of a dive should be fine!
I wish the duo meant two o-rings for the battery compartment. I still have nightmares about ys-d2 floods…
That's good feedback, we'll include it in our next conversation with sea&sea!
How does the remote control attach underwater? Does it mount to the hotshoe adapter or somewhere else?
Thanks for your question! The remote mounts with included 1/4-20 screws.
Nice video, but why is your voice only on my left ear and the musik on the right? Its kinda confusing
Thanks for pointing that out. I'll pay more attention to the audio channels next time.
If you are going to treat the 61Mp camera with a decent dome port, you still need to carry a WACP-2, and then the rig isn´t so small any longer.
Cannot wait get mine! Great review!
Now that is definitely a game changer :P
awwwwww❤
Do you think the 14-35mm would be a good choice for capturing underwater videos and photos of whales? I might be around 6 to 10 meters away, but I'm not entirely certain. Thank you for your help! ☺️
Absolutely. A wide Rectilinear lens like a 14-35 or 16-35 is the ideal choice in our opinion. Anything wider and even a very large animal will look tiny in the frame. It's very unlikely a large marine mammal will come close enough for a fisheye to do any good!
Great video!
Great video, thank you! Short and super informative. 🤩
Glad it was helpful!
nice informative video, can't wait to get one of these once I save up a little bit! Love Shearwater!
Thanks for watching!
Epic! 🔥🔥

Since I have a Shearwater in my mares horizon SCR, I am super tempted to get me one for OC as well. Thanks Nirupam. 🙏
Good choice!
I love Shearwater. Thank you Nirupam. I will be sure to order online soon
You are most welcome
Exciting that you sell scuba gear now!! Great review. Thanks, Bluewater!!
hey Nirupam, thanks for the TG7 review…would you mind sharing brand/model of that tripod please?
This one here! www.bluewaterphotostore.com/inon-uw-tripod-hub
@@BluewaterPhotoStore excellent, thanks!
Hi, Thanks for the review. I was wondering what cord would you need to connect it to an Ikelite housing. Would you only be using the sync cord? Thanks again
For Ikelite, the sync cord is definitely ideal!
Finally
Is it me or does everything on that desk look like Kraken sports product. Are weefine and kraken the same company?
That's a good observation! I'm not sure if there's a connection
The only way to update A-GPS on TG-6 now is by using OM Workspace with USB cable connected in a Storage mode. All other older methods using WIFI and separate programs do not work - could not download A-GPS files from servers.
Good to know! Sorry for your troubles
@@BluewaterPhotoStore well, it is rare thing to be used... But I found no instructions on that topic on official OM site. Nice that at least one working method is still available for an old model. GPS on TG series still is pretty slow and awkward compared to Nikon W300 or any modern smartphone...
@@yv3009 Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed!
Yep, it's a TG-6 with a USB -C! Definitely not worth the extra cost...
Agreed!
I bought this strobe as soon as it was released. This is very useful for shooting macros at night. And modified my snoot mount. Do snoot shooting with this. Very effective.
That sounds awesome! We love this strobe :)
please can you help me! I have a canon G10 with Fisheye FIX underwater housing (I believe it is the same as the recess G series) what size O rings does this housing take?
I found this to be somewhat complicated for the true PS beginner. (I'm a LR user, almost exclusively.) Here is what I did, that I found infinitely more intuitive: On Photoshop tools, the fourth button has the "quick selection" tool. You may have to right click to pull up the submenu. (Excuse my terminology if incorrect.) Select the areas you want. Oftentimes, it will pick up areas that you don't want blurred. If it does this, Look on the bar at the top, and there is a subtract button, so you can just use that to subtract the area. Open the "Filter" menu. Select "Noise" then "Dust & Scratches." I've found that setting the radius to 50 or 60 and threshold to 0 works well for me.
Thanks for the feedback! We have a new lightroom tutorial that addresses backscatter as well: ua-cam.com/video/m55YOtBdz-g/v-deo.html
How can I see some high resolution images from this camera.
Send an email to nirupam@bluewaterphotostore.com - I would be happy to send some high res images to you!
Does this camera have one button white balance like thr r5c?
Unfortunately the R8 doesn't have one button white balance - you need to take a photo of a white slate and then assign the white balance in the menu
Thank you for the information- if there was one dive site in Anilao that you had to pick which one would it be and why?
Great question! Kirby's is my personal favorite - it's one of the few wide angle sites in Anilao and it's beautiful. There are also pygmy sea horses!
I found this video on a Underwater Camera Housing Set-up, Protection & Maintenance Tips, and there is a part regarding the removal of scratch from dome port, I have the inon 140 lens, do you think a similar process could work to remove a scratch, or the addional coating of the lens make the process not applicable? I asked today to inon support, I hope they replay with some good news, but another opinion would be nice 😁 Btw, that G55 lens looks promising, how difficult is to get the correct focus? I saw the focus stick with the lens, but still seems not easy to focus with less than 2 cm dof
Thanks for your question! You should be able to buff out the scratch with novus polish: www.bluewaterphotostore.com/novus-polish-2oz-set I do think the focus sticks will help quite a bit. Personally I thought it was fairly simple to focus as you can see in the screen if your image is in focus. But it does take some practice. I tried on land first and with some rocks and then I estimated the same distance with my actual subjects. Filming in 4K/120p also helps because you can slow down the footage for stabilization. I hope this helps and makes sense!
@@BluewaterPhotoStore meanwhile Inon responded, they suggest the change of the frontal lens, that is around 80€ with the labour, I opted for the swap, but thanks!
Nice!
How was battery life. Can you do 3 dives without changing the battery shooting stills? Did the camera overheat while shooting video? Looks like an interesting option.
I thought the battery life was not bad.... I was able to get through a full day of diving on one battery. I didn't have any problems with overheating but I was shooting primarily photos. I hope that helps! If you'd like to see a quote for a system please email sales@bluewaterphotostore.com :)
Hello Nirupam, how do you find the set of 3 macro lenses from Inon and which 2 would you recommend, if I already have an AOI UWL-03 (which I believe is already the same as a Inon G140)? Thanks for the great review.
Good question! The UWL-03 is very close to the Inon G140 - that's correct. My personal favorite was the G55, because I loved being able to get so close to very tiny subjects like the scallop in the video. But if you were going to pick a second lens, I would pick the G165 II. That way you can have a good range between "macro" and "supermacro". Let me know if you have any questions and if you need help acquiring the lenses, please don't hesitate to reach out at sales@bluewaterphotostore.com!
Hi Nirupam, thanks for the helpful response. Just to clarify, I meant which 2 lenses were your preference in addition to the G140 for a good macro range. Your input is valued.
@@vingun169 I would prefer the G165 II and G55 for a good macro range :) www.bluewaterphotostore.com/inon-ucl-g165-ii-sd-underwater-wide-close-up-lens/ www.bluewaterphotostore.com/inon-ucl-g55-sd-underwater-close-up-lens/
A further inquiry, if you don't mind Nirupam, how did you manage the narrow focus range of the and high magnification of the UCL-G55? Would a tripod be required, was it challenging to use? Thanks for your valuable responses.
@@vingun169 Of course! It actually wasn't too bad. Ideally I would use a tripod, but if you don't have one, film at 4K/120p and slow down the footage for stability. The G55 now comes with a measuring tool that tells you the focusing distance, but it was also easy to see where the GoPro was in focus on the screen. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions
I have an underwater housing for a Ninja V Monitor. Is there a way to turn off the splash screen menus on the Ninja V monitor, as this currently obstructs the camera settings. the monitor housing does not seem to have a button that can be used or extended to touch the main screen, which is the standard way to hide these menu overlays when not in a housing. this is also an issue if you are trying to use the record features of the Ninja V in ProRes mode. you need to hide the splash screens otherwise the overlay information will be recorded. any suggestions?
Thanks for reaching out! Can you please send a video to nirupam@bluewaterphotostore.com? I'll send it to Marelux's engineers for suggestions!
Awesome 🤩
Hi! Thank you for your review!!! I am a hybrid shooter and I can’t decide between the Sony a6700 vs the R7. My main interest is macro. Thoughts?
I might say that they are equally good! It depends on if photo or video is your focus. The A6700 is probably a little better for video.
What a makeover!
For HSS, does it require a specific converter, or does it work with an usual manual converter?
HSS works with a trigger that is compatible with HSS - most uwtechnics triggers can do this. What camera are you considering using with the Apollo III? We'd be happy to quote you a good solution at sales@bluewaterphotostore.com
Hahahaha I love this! Might be time for some new fins… although I have to admit I kind of like those retro fins he was wearing in the beginning. Are they for sale?? 😄
