Hi Brandon, if you have a felony, does it disqualify you from getting your contractors license?
The state wants to see that your felony was at least 7 years ago and you need to have taken care of everything. Probation, whatever fines etc. but you can apply still after that time yeah

Yes they do! They have done 13 Sting operations this year so far. Go to the CSLB website type in 2024 News Release and they publish them all right there

Great job! I have a quick question I am an apprentice right now. Do I have to journey out in 4 years and then work as a journeyman for another 4 years to take the c-10, or can I take it right after becoming a journeyman

My stepdad is self-employed in the business for 15 years and he's unlicensed(Also has an ITIN).Im 19 and been working for him since I was 14. Can he sign my experience form?
Hey, that’s awesome man. Unfortunately, you still do need to be 22 years old because the state starts considering full-time employment at age 18 so 18+4 years of experience you were at 22 years old.

You need 4 years in a journeyman position as a GC or 4 years experience. Kinda screws the guys who have experience in other trades

Because the taxes, bonding, insurance and workers comp and payroll taxes cost about 25% of the total job prices so it’s unfair competition to licensed guys. Also if they get hurt the homeowner is liable, haven’t you seen all the attorney signs on the side of the freeway these days

Interested, this didn't seem like a clear step by step though. I have done work on my own houses, only recently discovered that even though I got permits passed, I should have had a license for.
@@MAD-DUKE When you own your house those are owner builder permits, no need for a license. When you want to work and build other properties that you don’t own, that’s when you need the license. Of course, all the ins and outs are taught in the law book throughout the course
@@ContractorsLicensePreparation thanks! I talked to one of your reps and they said owner builder experience doesn't count. However, I was told by a friend that was long as I got permits for work done on my properties it counts. Reason I'm interested in the license is because I was told that I can only owner build my primary. Is that not the case?
@@MAD-DUKE prior to 2018 the state was much more lienent with the general construction license and would accept owner builder, we send thousands of applications a year, and for real estate agents with 5-6 years of permits under their name etc they always deny no matter what they ask for they deny. They want a general contractor to sign off on your experience. The state also says you can be licensed at 18 and that’s not really the case either so just be careful
“D-38 - Sand and Water Blasting Contractor A sand and water blasting contractor uses the force of compressed air in conjunction with abrasive materials or water to clean or prepare surfaces for any protective, decorative and/or functional treatment.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but this clearly states that the blasting must have “compressed air” (sandblasting or super high pressure psi water). I don’t believe normal pressure washer have compressed air in them just compressing water- therefore this doesn’t apply to normal pressure washing
@@cedrusking6662 read the law, in the state of California any trade regardless of what type it is, it requires a contractors license when you are charging clients $500 or more including labor and materials this applies to pressure washing, landscaping, plumbing etc any type of trade.

GFCI question was tricky… if it’s a dwelling unit then yes answer is A if it’s an industrial or commercial kitchen then it’s always required regardless
