Arbour A3a 0-4-0t complete making its first test run
My Arbour A3a 0-4-0t finished and on its first test run on the layout. It has a Soundtraxx ECONAMI sound decoder with quite sharp sound.
Also included in the video are some clips of the newer part of the layout with the town of Innsmouth. It features a new Roundhouse and station. Soon also a Pacific Ocean harbour.

Arbour HO A3a 0-4-0t running test
Переглядів 725Місяць тому
My latest Arbour HO A3a 0-4-0t build which is nearly finished. Test running it with pure DC. The motor is a small open frame 5 pole which is quite weak so the slow speed isn't fantastic. It runs quite well though with only a small hitch going backwards. I'll change out the magnet to a stronger one which together with a DCC decoder hopefully will be able to get better low speed characteristics f...

Vintage Varney HO scale 4-6-2 from the 1940/1950s fitted with Digitrax decoder. Its the Varney economy Pacific without sprung drivers. It still has the original open frame Pittman motor. A little noisy but still going strong now over 70 years old. Edited by YouCut:app.youcut.net/BestEditor

HO Athearn 4-6-2 from the 1950/1960s fitted with Digitrax DCC decoder. It still has the original motor which is a bit weak as it has problems pulling even the two cars in the movie. Running om my home layout which is set in the 1890s. The passenger cars running behind it are from Labelle. Way to old for 4-6-2 though. Edited by YouCut:app.youcut.net/BestEditor

Vintage Athearn HO 4-6-2 Pacific from the 1950/1960s which has received some TLC and now runs quite nice despite its old open frame motor and plastic driving wheels. Will soon get a DCC decoder installed so it can stretch it legs on the layout pulling some cars.

Micro layout 1/900 scale. Train system from Teeny trains IDL motors
Переглядів 4 тис.6 років тому
A small micro layout I have built using train sets from Teeny Trains IDL motors. The layout is fitted into a small cabinet made of two wooden boxes mounted together. The landscape is pink styrofoam overlaid with Sculptamold then surfaced with snow from Noch. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did building it.

A Bachmann new tooling HO 4-4-0 locomotive remade with new paint and livery. Some details are also changed as the stack, headlight and pilot. The locomotive is fitted with a Soundtraxx Econami sound decoder. It was decaled for my layout the California Railway & Navigation Company. This movie shows it at slow speed. I have another movie on my channel where it runs at medium speed.

Bachmann HO 4-4-0 new tooling with homemade 60" drivers

The movie shows my latest attempt to make driving wheels from scratch. The axle and wheelrim are turned from steel. The centerpiece with the spokes are 3D printed. To be able to use the stock driving rods bushings where made in brass. The rods are going to be changed to 3D printed ones instead with more detail incorporated. The rods are mounted on a Bachmann new tooling HO 4-4-0. To accompany t...
4-4-0 locomotive Storm with TCS Wowsound
Переглядів 69 тис.10 років тому
The locomotive is a HO scale PFM United Jupiter import from the Golden Spike Centennial set with new paint and decals. The gearbox is from NWSL which is driven by a Mashima motor. The sound comes from a TCS Wowsound decoder with Zimo sugarcube speaker. The speaker is the smallest they have but still have quite good sound. The chuff synchronization on the earlier video I published was wrong and ...

Arbour models HO scale 4-4-0 kit
Переглядів 2,2 тис.11 років тому
My Arbour models 4-4-0 kit project. The kit has been extensively rebuilt with: -New milled frame. The frame that came with the kit was warped and could not be used. -Motor and gearbox in the locomotive. Mashima motor and English Branchline gearbox -New suspension for the locomotive without the side swinging front pilot truck. This can be seen in the video as the front of the loco doesn't come s...
I just came across this video ... Subscribed!!! 👍
What scale and gauge? Very nice work.
Thank you its HO scale standard gauge
I agree with all
awesome locomotive and amazing layout!
Thank you for the kind words. I'm not the best to film though but I'm learning
I just loved this video! The engine looks and runs great. And so does the layout. I never get tired of viewing your Round house
Thank you Bob! I'm a bit amazed that an Arbour kit can run so good.
If you are looking for a year the locomotive was released it was realeased in and only in 1961
What gauge of wire dod you use to install the pickups?
Very smooth, is there a flywheel?
Lovely to see one of these actually assembled, and very well too! Always a pleasure to see your progress.
Thank you. They are quite frustrating to work on. I had to do a lot of filing and grinding to be able to fit the various parts. But in the end it does make for a unique model.
WOW!! Very nice runner and such a BEAUTIFUL Layout!! Very nice job!!
Thank you Ron for the kind words!
The best 9 seconds of my life
Looking at the driving wheels makes me think that this is the antelope
Your railway looks great.
Thanks!
Those drivers make those 4-4-0s look so much better.
Great job on it plus the layout has a really individual feel to it....touch of Gorre and Daphetid but far from a copy.....very stylish!
Thank you for the kind words. I'll soon post a video of the layout with some more for the time period suitable locomotives.
There were at least four versions of this locomotive. This one looks like it is one of ones with plastic drivers and only the tender picks up current. Is that right?
Yes this has the plastic drivers and only pickup on the tender. The quality of the plastic is really good though so it has stood the test of time.
Ancient looking engine, but at least it finally gave us the long awaited grand tour of your masterpiece of a layout. Bravo, sir! You're an inspiration.
Thank you for the kind words! I post a video soon with a more for the time period appropriate locomotive pulling the trains.
There were many versions of this locomotive with every kind of drive. Many had tender pick up only with plastic drivers. Athearn went to metal drivers with the late version.
Its a very strange with plastic drivers. Strangely enough they are of very good quality and still very much intact. The whole locomotive is in very good condition. I'll post another video with converting it to DCC and after it can stretch it legs on the large layout.
Its so strange seeing one of these moving let alone not being in a billion pieces due to zinc rot
Where these Athearn Pacifics prone to zinc rot? I haven't detected any on this one.
@@hakannilsson4112a lot of these super early athearn locos pop up nowadays with zinc rot so you’re honestly pretty lucky finding one in one piece let alone fully functional and in such fine condition
Super. I still want a front coupler though, as about 1/2 of my steam locomotives don't have one. 💙 T.E.N.
Beautiful layout. Interesting time period. 🚂
Looks so good!
How much would you sell these for?
I say only PHANTASTIC 👍👍👍
A wonderful loco I like also the beautiful layout greetings Franz
Can I buy this train off you
The sounds of the 4-4-0 locomotive do not match the prototype sounds of the real restored locomotives, at least from the audio track on this video. However, most people will not pick up the differences. The customizing paint and detail work on the 4-4-0 is very nice. You should offer pro-printed decal sheets of the Victorian scroll work and lettering so others can easily convert their 4-4-0’s and old passenger cars into special models. Just a sad note, the past model manufacturers of 1860 - 1880 American Style passenger cars are either out of business or decided to no longer to produce these models. Athearn has abandoned the Roundhouse line of old time cars. The tooling is either lost or not usable and they have no plans to reintroduce these models in the future. As conditions dictate, they will make only contemporary passenger car models. So Model Power, Mantua, MDC / Athearn Roundhouse, ConCor, Blackstone, IHC, etc. are all gone now leaving Bachmann has the only company still producing 1860-1880’s Era passenger cars. Note, their car body designs are basically from the 1960’s tooling and not accurate to scale.
Is that Bachmann?
That's the best Interpretation of Schenectady blue and crimson I've seen, very close to the Caledonian Railway livery said to have inspired it. Gorgeous loco and scenery, pure class! The Jupiter replica at Promontory Point looks gaudy in comparison.
Thank you!
I’ve been following along on the forum, wonderful job.
WoW - all I can think to say is WoW!!!
2nd word that came to my mind - fantastic!!!
Fantastic work, from an admiring swede from across the Atlantic
Is it possible to run longer tracks with these magnetic drives?
That's a consolidation Loco.

Does it smoke ?
Awesome train video can you suscribe to me please
Very nice layout! What adhesive did you use to get the track onto the pink foam?
Where did you get that Locomotive
It's a Pennsy Class H-1 2-8-0. Empire Midland made them in brass
Which wow-sound decoder
Clear and precise! Now all I need is the nerve and the steady hands!
Fantastic setup!! Did you use the kit that runs two trains from one controller?
James Sims Thanks! yes I used one controller with two train control.
Very impressive micro layout!
Thanks!
Great tutorial
Just to clarify. When mounting the wheelsets in the trucks the insulated wheels should be on the side with the new pickup wiper.
Thanks!
I love the western station scenery
Thanks!
