Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers - Eve's Plate (Amy) vs Mathcat (Jack Frost) Random Courses FT10
Eve (www.youtube.com/@evesplate) and I decided late last month on the fly to do a FT10 head-to-head in Ring Racers. The ground rules were:
-Random Course Selection
-Gear 2 (We wanted to do Gear 3 but I didn't know what I was doing with the server settings and didn't realize I set this part wrong)
-No items in the item boxes, essentially making it more Time Attack-esque
Courses in order:
0:00 - Azure Lake (0 - 0)
2:06 - Press Garden (1 - 0)
4:22 - Leaf Storm (2 - 0)
6:30 - Azure Axiom (2 - 1)
9:05 - Aqua Tunnel (2 - 2)
11:38 - Gravtech Dimension 5 (3 - 2)
14:38 - Vermilion Vessel (3 - 3)
17:13 - Joypolis (3 - 4)
19:06 - Bronze Lake (3 - 5)
21:46 - Aerial Highlands (4 - 5)
24:43 - Storm Rig (4 - 6)
27:07 - Mega Ice Cap (4 - 7)
29:38 - Pestilence (5 - 7)
32:17 - Marble Garden (5 - 8)
34:56 - Mega Green Hill (6 - 8)
37:34 - Trap Tower (7 - 8)
39:29 - Blue Mountain 2 (7 - 9)
-Random Course Selection
-Gear 2 (We wanted to do Gear 3 but I didn't know what I was doing with the server settings and didn't realize I set this part wrong)

Courses in order:

Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers: Turquoise Hill SPB Attack (Tails - 2'24"60)

(Done on Version 2.3) Same deal with the Dragonspire 1 upload today, I've been studying Wind's Turquoise Hill WR (ua-cam.com/video/lIln3SruWeI/v-deo.html) and while that tree bonk is way too complicated for me to handle, the first loop skip is a lot more doable. A bit sloppy with my ring pulls but I'll take a swifter time if I can help it. You definitely need both ring boost and wavedash boost ...

(Done on Version 2.3) If you're familiar with Ring Racers' WR scene, it's no secret that Wind is the GOAT when it comes to standard Time Trials. I've been studying their submissions, when I realized I could implement the jump done in the current Dragonspire 1WR (ua-cam.com/video/5GpRxVPLhYU/v-deo.html) in the slower SPB mode. Doing this shaves a whole 7 seconds off my original Jack Frost attemp...

(Done on Version 2.3) Lap 2 had some scuffed moments, but I'm happy with a sub 2'10". Also was fun to learn that little trick to get the ring box, never knew about that before.

(Done on Version 2.3) This was one I was intentionally trying to beat WR for and I did it for now c: Lap 2 was super sloppy on the wavedash jump, and I wished I could've did the red spring start instead of yellow, but otherwise a solid run.
Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers: Cyan Belltower SPB Attack (Gum - 1'49"74)

(Done on Version 2.3) More like Magenta Belltower. Dawg it makes me so sad we can't use normal TA strats to skip tripwires here, the shortcutless parts of this track feel really bad with only rings to use. Second run to make me switch off Frost, I needed someone heavier so I could spark faster.

(Done on Version 2.3) The underwater section near the tripwire is such a goddamn red herring. Another instance of "grind to learn" but more so trying to fight muscle memory to not drift as soon as I hit that section. Nowhere near the best time, but that's more that I gotta get better at advanced tech (Holding wavedashes, course tricks, etc.)
Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers: Dark Fortress SPB Attack (Jack Frost - 2'03"48)

(Done on Version 2.3) Another one of those "grind it out so I understand how the course functions" SPBs. I really gotta learn not to hold a all the time, even if I think the course's 2nd turn is especially punishing about teaching that.

(Done on Version 2.3) I was gonna go to bed right after I did the Weiss Waterway SPB but I was feeling myself and DS1 is a course I really like normally so I decided to make it a 2-for-1 deal. Not even the first clear either, I wanted something cleaner and I mostly got what I wanted.

(Done on Version 2.3) Another one of those courses that I was just grinding out so I could better understand a difficult section (the offroad-booster part). My overall play could've been better, but I was grinding this all the way to 2 AM lmao.

(Done on Version 2.3) I like trick springs usually but grey trick springs are a struggle to deal with at speed. You can see me start to lose consistency especially on lap 5.
Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers: Metropolis SPB Attack (Jack Frost - 1'57"14)

(Done on Version 2.3) Ngl the zig-zag springs in this one are kinda ass imo. Cause like what do you even do if you don't hit that section with extra speed and don't hit the trick spring?
Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers: Bigtime Breakdown SPB Attack (Jack Frost Ringless - 2'15"60)
Переглядів 205 місяців тому
(Done on Version 2.3) Definitely the easiest of the SPB attacks I did yesterday given that it only took me two attempts to get it done. I'm definitely getting addicted to running these.

(Done on Version 2.3) Fun attack that made me realize what I kept getting wrong in casual play for this course, i.e. the jump into the springs.
Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers: Las Vegas SPB Attack (Jack Frost - 2'07"42)

(Done on Version 2.3) The last section's tight cornering was giving me trouble for the longest time, having voltage and bonus rings is nice and all but it forces some pretty strict brake drifting imo.

Giving My Girlfriend "The Initiation" [P4U2]
Now for the part where I instill some post-set analysis on my end: Azure Lake - I was woefully underpracticed for this course (and generally dislike SPB cup courses), slipups on both lap 1 & 2 made it largely impossible to keep up. Press Garden - I sure do love choking on my favorite course. That being said most of my play here was fine to a point with minor mistakes, but falling off on lap 2 is what did me in; got to stop rawdogging the gas. Leaf Storm - No Notes, generally solid play. Azure Axiom - I'm underpracticed on this course too, but luckily Eve is a lot more underpracticed. Would be a complete blowout if I memorized cornering. Aqua Tunnel - Legitimately got frametrapped by the spikes on lap 3. Using my rings sooner for the tripwire on lap 2 might've saved me this headache, too. Gravtech - Another one of those courses where lack of knowledge on both sides meant I edged it out on better game state sense. That being said that bump on the end of lap 2 was godly (and maybe a sign I should try more class H) Vermilion Vessel - I used to despise this course but learned brake usage goes a long way during the trick segments. A blowout for the most part. Joypolis - One of the closer runs, and I can't say my general driving had any problems here. Probably a good a time as any to note my ring roulette timing could be better. Bronze Lake - Completely mentally boomed this one after getting rammed in the 2nd lap. Why did I go for a shortcut I haven't even practiced before??? Aerial Highlands - Complete blowout, though I wish my lines on the cloud bounce sections were cleaner. Storm Rig - Probably my favorite race here in terms of how close it was, aside from the nasty misplay at end of lap 2. Mega Ice Cap - lol. lmao. Honestly should've wizened up that Eve's offroad lines were keeping her ahead. Good lord though those ice blocks are the worst. Pestilence - Pretty convincing win on my end. No notes. Marble Garden - Bigger fumble than the Bronze Lake one. Firstly there's me giving up position because I waffled on grabbing the lighting shield, secondly there's messing up on the spike cycles on laps 2 and 3, and then there's eating shit all 3 times on the uphill climb. Mega Green Hill - Probably would've edged this one out had I not kept missing the sneaker panels and/or hitting motobugs. Trap Tower - This course is a lot scarier to me with items on. Without them I can focus on having clean lines and a clean win. Blue Mountain 2 - Another instance of a course we both despise, but I've been dicked around by this course enough times not to lose to my least favorite corner midway in segment 3. But hey can we talk about how that one jump being taken at normal speed still lands both of us in the pit??? In general though, I think I won by having a better mental. We were on call during the entire set and Eve was getting frustrated on her losses and misplays a lot more than I was on mine. I think I might have more consistent sliptides, as well.
GGs! I like how you did the score and track names.

It's Kanji. Of course it kills.
Dunno about "glassiest". She's got 9500 HP, same as Yu. Shadow Lab has only 8k though.
So one of the glassiest then cause its not Kanji (Me covering for not knowing character healths)
That was so anime lol

There's something very fitting about Franziska saying 2-3 isn't doing anything for her
I actually finished 2-3 last night. And yeah I definitely see what you mean.
it's like they put all of the problematic tropes in 2-3 and 3-3
