Messing with Godot for the first time (rough video - anyone interested?)
Переглядів 2128 днів тому
So a few months ago, I started messing with Godot and this was the first attempt at getting animations working in a test application. 3D models are from Synty asset packs, but I had to work out how to re-rig and animate them as the default assets only really work in Unity. Would anyone be interested in things like Godot dev vlogs?

Well. I accidentally destroyed my Fusion transitions, have a cold and got at least one game name wrong. What even is this mess? :D Audio levels are all over the place for the audio ducking. A pretty good month overall, I've ended up playing Guardians of the Galaxy a bunch. *edit* 10-ish hours in, it's not bad apart from bugs they probably will never fix. Rushed and audio a bit more echoey than normal - everything's packed away for moving :D 0:00 Intro 0:10 Guardians of the Galaxy 0:51 Stranded: Alien Dawn 1:08 Coral Island 1:27 Spongebob SquarePants Cosmic Shake 1:49 Lost Eidolons...

Apologies, late with the overview this month - lots of life stuff going on this month, so I had to rush this out when I finally got a moment. Sifu is a really fun fighter, would definitely recommend. *Amendment* in Sifu your character starts at 20, and then ages to 21, 23, 26 etc (unless your death counter reduces between levels). Still interesting, I wonder how old I can get before he can't re...

Vlog: Getting kids into PC gaming with cheap ex-office PCs!
Переглядів 1127 місяців тому
If you've ever thought about building a PC for your kids, you can do a lot worse than looking for ex-office PCs. You can often get a 5 year old machine with 16GB ram for next to nothing. In this video I'll go over buying a PC, using the new Steam Family settings to share games and some game comparisons when adding a GPU. This ended up being a kinda weird vlog thing after shooting about 6 hours ...

What is disk 2
The second disc of the game I was installing. Xbox series X was having a weird bug where it didn't understand the game was already inserted.
@ thank you for responding I tried downloading red dead but my brother broke the second disk
@aleshaConnor Ah. You *might* be able to install from the internet and then use disc 1 to play. Not sure how, haven't tried it myself.
My disk 1 is proken so can i install the game from the Microsoft store and play with disk 2
I don’t think so, disc 1 is the play disc. How broken is it, just not reading fully or snapped? Will it work enough to have the serial read for play?
I’ve been trying to install my this game for months! I’ve got like 100 pounds worth of stuff on it! Thanks for making this.. 😊
No worries - glad the video still works :)
Looks like we have a similar preferences. To me it would also be dome keeper, station to station, jusant, mcpixel as the most interesting ones 🍺
I've been super busy these last two weeks but still managed to get about 10 hours in Dome Keeper. ~30 minutes is a good amount of game time, though I still need to Git Gud.
What worked for me is that I installed it from my phone and I interest disc 1 the play disc and it worked right away update for anyone trying to do this in 2024 September on my Xbox series x
Yeah, the install from phone should work too, I did mean to update this. The UI for installing is so Janky, even now :D
Never been much into city builders so that one isn't for me, but I do like tactical RPG's if they are done right. Some FF Tactics nostalgia. Card builders are a dime a dozen now, maybe try it when I get time. Not sure about guardians, I haven't heard much about it, probably try it. I don't do pre-alpha of anything so that's out too.
Yeah, deck builders will need to just get to the point rather than have me play for an hour to learn all the mechanics (not that this one takes that long). I just don't enjoy them, but people love them and that's fine. I like *some* city builders. Stranded and Infraspace had enough to be interesting, though I may get bored quickly. The main game I'm still playing - especially on Steam Deck with Proton 7 - is Guardians of the Galaxy. It's not even *that* great, it's pretty straightforward and linear - but I'm enjoying hanging out with the characters. Doesn't require much thinky. Rue Valley on paper should be for me; I might need to go back and tweak my character. I'm not sure how long the pre-alpha is in gameplay terms, but it'd be nice if they update it with a settings page or *something*.
Sifu and High on life are the best ones this time. The others are probably a pass for me.
Yeah, I completed High on Life again this week. Good overall, shame Roiland has ruined his legacy.
House move SIM with real stupid bots ….
There was a coupon being offered and for some reason june's offering didn't give a reason to even consider it... your review made me confident I made the right "choice". July's looking to be decent though
There's at least three games I'm gonna play so it's counted as a win. Maybe I should keep trying Ghostrunner 2 and Git Gud but I just don't really find it interesting :/
Personally not for me, but two good headliners overall
I was looking forward to the "I'm not the target audience" comment. It almost happened. 💜
Yeah, I think sometimes it goes without saying - mostly I was more annoyed by buggy things that didn't work. I'd love to see Hyperviolent actually get their resolution / fullscreen issues fixed, but I feel like the project is abandoned given the number of weird bugs and things it has after a year in Early Access. They've kinda let themselves down. It got to a tech demo stage (it's made using Gamemaker) but then didn't get the polish it needs.
"**** weeb card game" lol that's a shame I was looking forward to zoeti. Thanks for the heads up that Figment 2 is a musical, that's interesting...
The whole game is about changing perspectives and there are characters who are different 'opinions' in the game; There is a fantastic set piece in one level where a load of bad opinions are singing about bad opinions, like pineapple on pizza or making a game into a musical. :D I think it's my favourite of the experiences, even if it is only 4 hours long. And to be fair to Zoeti, it's semi-poker hand style so it's easy to get into. It's just not for me. I found it a bit dull.
@@SlothrockGamingthanks - that helped me decide to not go for this particular game, as I love card games but don't particularly go gaga for the poker-style mechanics.
@@michaeltruong7428 Yeah, I found them a bit weird. Individual cards did small damage, a straight does a large amount and two pair is some kind of defence trigger. Which is super boring and annoying. Maybe it opens out later on, like a house decapitates someone. Probably not.
Heretic's Fork had a demonic Clippy!
I did appreciate that - I think I'll give it another go, just for that!
Mostly the same here, but I didn't really like A plague tale the first time around so I doubt this one is for me. I already have Starship troopers too. The only one for me this month is the card battler probably, I am addicted to those lately.
Yeah, I think of the two card games the tower defence is the one I'd prefer - if I can work out how to get the tower actually defending :D I get what you mean about Plague Tale, it certainly has moments that are annoying but for a moderately linear sneak 'n' squeak I enjoyed it. There's a few great set pieces in Requiem that are cool, like a tidal wave of rats. I think that's in Requiem, at least :D
Skip month not even one I would want sadly. I’m with you on RoR2 I played a ton of it with my friends and it’s just boring.
Yeah, it's a weird month when the *visual novel* is not the least interesting. I think the main problem with a lot of these games is that I have better games already / the offerings from GamePass and other equivalents are a lot stronger. It's a weird 'problem' to have.
"Space Arc" lol. I'm there with you on that one. Hated Arc. I love Warhammer games and the universe they are in, but I am on strike from all things Warhammer with the drama being caused by Games Workshop as of late. We can't reward that kind of behavior from companies. I've heard good things about RoR, but I can't seem to get into it much, and I like rogue-likes a lot. Been playing the heck out of Monster Train! I love strategy games (I still play SC2 here and there), so Knights was a winner for me. I hate musicals, unless the music is something I would actually listen to outside the game, so that one was kind of a pass for me.
I think I'd be more into it if I understood it a little better or sucked a little less :D The 2D first version was basically the same experience with one less dimension. I'll probably discover there's a dodge button :D :D
Amazing visuals...let's obscure them with fog and narrow dark places!
Really impressive visuals and audio. The gameplay could do with existing though, but as a six hour experience it’s great!
I know im late but if the raffle is not over, would kindly request being added for humankind
I've been late in drawing this and last month's :D :D I'll do them all once I finish this month's video.
Thanks for the helpful summary as always. Count me in for humankind giveaway!
3 mixed reviews for the headers is a bit disappointing. I'm in for humankind tho, thanks!
So far I'm really enjoying Callisto Protocol and Excavation of Hob's Barrow - Callisto Protocol plays really well on steamdeck, so I've been playing that from the comfort of my sofa :D
@@SlothrockGaming symphony of war looks interesting as well.
Thanks for your commentary as usual. In for Humankind!!
Thanks for another monthly games preview. Count me in for Humankind :)
Nioh 2 and soulstice locks interesting
Not a bad month. Count me in for Citizen Sleeper :)
The Humbel bundle got more expensive and less interesting this / last year, but still very good and to a fair price. Would be glad to participate in the giveaway for the Citizen Sleeper. Thanks.
I want to try out Citizen Sleeper, I hear that the narrative goes places. Nioh 2 is the easy winner, that game was fantastic.
noo its not ur fault XD thanks for the chance~
When your image moved did you say “with the tw@t out of the way?” 😊
Maybe.
dang citizen sleeper seemed like the one game i would enjoy in the bundle. If you don't want it i'll give it a try. Thanks for the resolution heads up.
I took all these this month, _except_ saints row. You couldn't pay me to play that trash.
Maybe it'll suck harder when I get into it. For now it just feels like regular mid-period Saints Row.
Damn the hate is real😂
After clicking and clicking I just lost the will to look at it any more. I'm really not the target audience for a bunch of stuff these days, I haven't the patience/time for stuff. :D
It says for March that I need to "Confirm your monthly payment to start playing games now", but my subscription is still active. Why might that be and would "skipping a month" allow me to get the March line-up?
I'm not sure to be honest; any time I want the latest monthly games I have to go through the payment page so skipping as far as I can tell just means not clicking to redeem that month. tbh I've not done it since they moved from Bundle to Choice.
In your opinion should I get humble choice? Because where I live the conversion rate is hectic lol and humble choice sounds like a good alternative
If the games are ones you like, I'd recommend - at least these days you get to see what the games on offer are first.
The first Life is strange was amazing, but the second one was trash. I can't say I am looking forward the 3rd one after 2.
Yeah, I'm going to play through but if 2 is garbage it'll get abandoned. There's too many games to spend hours and hours persevering at stuff where I'm just not having fun. Fun is subjective, but for *me*... if I'm not enjoying it, to the bin! :D
If 3 turns out good though, reply here and let me know! I really did love the first one, maybe they found their way again?@@SlothrockGaming
Wifey away 😊
Yeah, it's taken nearly two weeks to have the actual time to do this one.
Aragami 1 was fun once you've got a few of the unlock gadgets.
Thanks for the review 🎉
happy new year :3
Humble truly sucked this year, only took 2 and passed on 10.
Yeah, that’s fair. There’s a few that were good for me but the *bulk* of “good” games are on Xbox game pass. For the most part, game pass is a *much* better deal, even though you get to keep the humble games forever.
@@SlothrockGaming Nail on head. There was nothing really worth keeping that couldn't be found on gamepass for the most part, plus bundles on Fanatical that has better titles and felt less padded out.
Last Call BBS, finally my Zachtronics games from humble is complete
Yeah, I think I have a bunch of their other games - I think Mobius Front '83 or something like that is the only one I didn't like at all.
Looks like I am not missing anything by skipping this month. Nice review.
I must admit other than having a nice time on Unpacking and enjoying Tianding on Steamdeck the rest are largely uninstalled almost immediately. Sometimes I'm just not the target audience for stuff :)
Me neither apparently, I looked at this month and passed pretty quick. @@SlothrockGaming
What a shock that Mr hates holidays likes unpacking 😂😂
Ha! It was a really interesting story of a woman's journey for happiness and fulfilment, at first I thought it was just a weird puzzle game.
I feel like this month is a bit underwhelming on the horror/spooky theme. Supermassive's games are fine but they've always underdelivered when it comes to creating a good conclusion that doesn't feel rushed in my opinion.
A video well done, thanks a lot for the review.
Nice one!!
Yeah I like these. Some cracking features and hardware and to my ear at least, they sound much nicer in the head to head with the Rode Wireless Go....they just have a fuller sound.
I think I need to do a followup comparison with the Rode and the 7artisans; with the Rode going into the camera I feel like the bottom end was wiped out of it somewhat so it doesn't feel like a fair test. Might do a short :) They're both good but for £99 for two mics - especially for use with a phone - I can't fault it. My only notes, mostly to my self... are: 1) Use the dead cat. Also try not to knock the mics as they will pick that up 2) Do a test recording because on the 7artisans side the connectors are TRRS and not TRS and you're going to have a bad time 3) When monitoring, use the splitter and plug the headphones into that. 4) Don't use mono mode unless using 1 mic / absolutely necessary 5) Mute the mic not in use as it takes a while to turn off in the box 6) NC mode is alright, actually, but even with NC off the resultant hiss (which I forgot that the Rode also has a bit of) is dead easy to remove in DaVinci Resolve 7) Use volume setting 4/5 - though 3/5 might be ok. Experiment a bit. 1/5 could work for gigs and loud environments, 5/5 could be ok for capturing ambient sound (like filming background noise in nature or something) but 3-4 will be your sweet spot 8) I need to remember to always check the levels in my recorder - I had the gain way to low in my Tascam D70 :D
Worth it for Tina (honorable mention to ˢᵗᵃʳᶠⁱᵉˡᵈ)
It's free on Gamepass! :D
Maybe I'm late but I loved the editing and hearing your thoughts, keep up the good work! :) If you still haven't picked a winner, I'd prefer chivalry but it's not an issue if the giveaway is over
Hey - thanks! I've not done the draw yet. I took a few days off and now I'm snowed under with work, making this month's video and the desire to play Starfield which I haven't even launched yet :D
I'd really like to be in for the giveaway for Chivalry 2!
I want to enter for Trek to Yomi
