Quick Mill Andreja Premium Solid State Relay and Gicar Failure Symptoms
Переглядів 1,4 тис.3 роки тому
Very brief description of 2 common problems with your Quick Mill Espresso machine. 1) Solid State Relay failure - Won't heat the water, but everything else seems to be working. Low water level buzzers, Fill circuit, Water pump etc works, but it won't heat. My Bad: I misspoke several times I meant to say "SSR" not "SSD" 2) Gicar failure - Everything stops working, will power on, and the pump wil...
Harbor Freight Butane Soldering Iron Modification
Переглядів 18 тис.4 роки тому
I loved my old Radio Shack butane soldering iron, but I had problems with it clogging. I tried very hard to fix it, but ended up breaking it. I really wanted another butane soldering iron and instead of paying big bucks for a name brand like Bluepoint or Matco, I went with this very affordable one by Schneider at Harbor Freight. I was impressed by it's output, but the lowest setting was still a...

Volvo s60 Windshield Wiper Motor and Linkage Fix
is this box custom made or offical jl ho box?
Any help you can offer on removing the outer panels?
Remove the cup warmer tray, remove the water reservoir then you have to unscrews the follow screws: 2 at the front corners of the upper panel, 2 at the upper corners of the rear panel, now tilting the rear panel you can pull it off, it's just fixed at the bottom by elastic clips, now the 2 screws at the bottom of the panel that support the water reservoir, then remove the drip tray and remove the last 2 screws at the sides of the frame.
@@patidada6791 Hey, thanks. I did manage to figure it out and make the repair.
Thanks for this!
Bro that's what I did too works great
Same here nro
Outstanding man, thank you! It's probably not uncommon for these small sized machines with the large boilers inside, to "cook" the electrical components. I just purchased a Pasquini Livia 90S that was suffering from the same symptoms that you experienced. Same failure, but in my machine, it is the Giemme controller, but same as your Gicar unit. In fact, I could have "upgraded" to the Gicar version. Nice job popping in the power transformer! I wound up sending mine to boyt_enterprises, and he repaired it the same day it arrived, and shipped it right back. Mine had a dead power transformer, and 6 dead capacitors. $133 including return shipping, to repair. When I put the machine back together, I'll do some type of better heat protection for the controller, and the big power supply relay. I just purchased a QM Andreja today, also dead, so your video is going to be very helpful! Also; cool to see how it's built inside. That's exactly how the Pasquini looks, except it's not an E61 group.
anyone know if the 900M tips work on this? couldnt find spefically "schneider" tips on amazon or google search. some other butane solders look close to this one ie it maybe white-branded - as harbor frieght did with this. i know they sell the wired 30w tips with their woodburning pen but they may melt on this. appreciate any help. :)
What year is? What is serial firts letter?? Is beautiful
great vid. i just bought this from harbor freight to change the connectors on my ebike. I've never soldered before so been soaking up as much info as possible.
I’m glad you took it apart! It makes a complete novice like me wanna try this out!
Thanks for sharing! Good on you. :)
Your old low was indeed too high. Nice fix!!
Remember not high performance fuel or refined fuel it could be three times filtered and it goes all the way to 14 times, great video
The RadioShack one that's clogged is an easy fix you need to remember use filtered butane of 3× or better , do not stick anything the filter hole where the gas line connected just like most lighters it has filters in it even a common Bic lighter has got filters. Would you like for me to tell you that easy fix?
Dude you've got me on the edge of my seat. It's been a month already
Well, you don’t have to cut anything. How does the adjustment for the amount of gas actually work? It rotates a valve, the more it rotates counter clockwise the more open the valve is. All you have to do is reindex the lever on the valve. Same adjustment on lighters, torches, just lift the lever up off the valve and reindex where it’s at….
Yes but then you lose your high-end maximum temperature
@@BxCornw the amount of adjustment doesn’t change, it’s the same 90° of rotation or whatever it is the torch is capable of. When you reindex the lever you’re changing the min and max levels. If you wanna max out the torch turn the valve to wide open and reindex the lever at the max + adjustment. Also, more gas doesn’t mean higher temp. It just means a bigger flame, the gas burns at the same temp. If you’re heating up a big object it helps but for a soldering iron it’s a waste of gas. I set mine for a 2” flame at max
Thanks for making this, it helped me have a good idea how to take it apart when it stopped lighting up. I had to replace it the piezo ignition, and while I was at it, I filed down the adjustment notch to have more lower range.
Anyone else hear that setting this on low will give you better gas mileage for your car? 6:52
Well if he actually knew that the tips of all butane soldering irons have a catalyst that once you see it glow red you blow out the flame and only the gas is supposed to blow over catalyst amd it stays hot thats the actual way your supposed to use butane soldering irons
Not all soldering irons and it’s something that does wear out. You don’t even need to light the flame, my torch doesn’t light on the first click especially with the soldering attachment on it. I just click it once and it glows. On bigger torches there’s a switch that’ll put out the flame by opening a vent.
After your bloviating intro I almost hit delete, but it turned out to be good. Nice mod! I particularly enjoyed your close-up shots. It puts out the heat! I wonder if a larger tip for soldering tubing or radiators would work with this puppy?
Dude um um I mean can you go any slower? Um
Why not just grind off the knob on the wheel so you can turn it all the way?
i usually heat up a knife with a torch and cut the plastic that way to cut a window for the adjustment knob
Thanks same car same issue. Linkage is totally seized! I can’t believe how hard I was pounding on this piece that is supposed to rotate smoothly. Car sat for 9 months. I guess that will do it.
Just picked this up. Thanks for the video!!!
Great job thanks for letting us know
Best review yet, glad I watched before using it. Going to do the modification also, 50% improvement. Acetone might be good for unclogging, if kept away from the plastic. Same place that carries the butane has acetone a 99 cent store.
Indeed, thanks for that...
This is great thanks 🙏

Nice bike. Just found an original early '90's one at a church rummage sale with the owners manual.
Thanks for the video. I just had to do a similar repair this morning in a heavy blizzard. My wiper motor gears stripped due to a seized pivot. Your video gave great insite into what I was in for. Thanks again
probably the most effective car repair video I've ever viewed. Well done.
Why not grease the other side
Probably a good idea to that. I apparently didn't. Which could by why it failed again 2 years later. I chose to purchase an aftermarket linkage for the replacement. Thanks!
You should probably let everyone know this video was Shot by Taliaferro ~5years ago when we tuned the car after building it March of 2012. It was on our dyno in springfield, MO
I added those details in the description. I had mentioned it was tuned at your shop as well (previously). If you come across someone who would be interested in purchasing. Let me know! Thanks much.
nice video, I wish you did one on windshield washer pump.
What model car is that pillar pod from?

Thats a creative way to do the ALS challenge , i have never seen someone do it on the middle of the streets , nice !
Haha, thanks man. It was sort of a social freedom exercise for me. Glad you liked it!
;)
UPDATE October 28, 2015: I decided to buy a new aftermarket linkage/transmission. I highly recommend doing this if you have the money ~$150. When your wipers seize, it is when you need them most, and can leave you stranded, or even worse in a car accident. This is my logic, and I hope you see the benefit of a replacement also. Your life is important!
UPDATE October 27, 2015: This is only a temporary repair... Mine just failed 2 years later on the dot, same issue. Perhaps a different lube and new o-rings would have helped. I will tear it apart tomorrow and repeat the procedure. 182k miles and going strong, running this Volvo into the ground :) Cheers!
Sounds perfect, I don't expect this car to last that long 😂 Just need to get us to another tax day
Hi, this video is VERY HELPFUL !!!! I had the same problem in my v50. The mechanism is very similar and it was the linkage assembly that was sticky. When I went to mechanic, he wanted to replace the whole mechanism and charge me about 550$. For me it's huge amount for such a small defect. I fixed it my self for free and it's working like new one!!! THANKS AGAIN :)
+Paweł K Glad to hear I could help!
Great job. Thank you. Very helpful.
Wow . . that was SO helpful, you are very persistent, Thank You - now I can do that.
What steps did you take to find out where the "down position" was when you were reinstalling the wiper transmission?
canihavesomenamehere I talk about it at about 7:30. I just cycled the motor so that it would stop in it's home position. Then I loosened the the nut on the transmission so that I could rotate it manually as the motor was still in the home position. As I rotated, I looked at the knob ends that the wipers attached to and visualized where they stopped in their down position. At that position is where I tightened the transmission to the motor head.
Thanks I figured it out! I could do this again much faster now!
Huge help. Will be digging into my son's S40 tomorrow.
