Lunar Eclipse over Mt Pleasant Observatory, Tasmania, Australia - 8th November, 2022
This was meant to be a sequence with the moon making a full arc from right to left, becoming more eclipsed as it went. Unfortunately the cloud obscured the moon shortly after take off.

Footage © Ian Stewart. One hour of Timelapse sequence of the Aurora Australis taken on the night of October 7th/8th. The island in silhouette is Betsey Island, Tasmania. The Aurora was caused by Solar Winds flowing from a large Coronal hole in the sun. This night remains the most perfect night I have seen for an Aurora in Tasmania after many years. Footage © Ian Stewart. This Proton Arc / STEVE was spotted during an Auroral display on November the 7th, 2015 from the South Picton Range in Tasmania, Australia. Aurora Australis over Tinderbox Vineyard - Tasmania, Australia - 9th March 2012 - Ian Stewart

As can be seen, the moon was very bright which weakened the effect of the Aurora and made the scene look like daylight. Exposures were 30 seconds each. Taken at Tinderbox Vineyard, Kingborough region, Tasmania, Australia on the 9th of March.
Stunning aurora montage. I get the impression that Tasmania is the best place in Australia to see auroras (particularly the Southern coast.)

Wow,..This is pure Magic, a extraordinarly fascinating most impressive celestial Beauty in the Universe, accompanied by particularly inspiring, insanely Intoxicating MUSIC...I LOVE it...Thank you so much for the remarkable fantastic WORK!
💕
Why is the southern lights seen well from Australia and New Zealand but can't be seen from Patagonia, Chile and Tierra del Fuego?
Because the South magnetic pole is not located exactly over the celestial South Pole. It is closer to Tasmania and New Zealand and is continuing to drift closer. Google that shit.
