This is a video made up of year-by-year images of maps from www.michiganrailroads.com showing the growth and decline of railroads in the Upper Peninsula.
Great video! Does he turn off Front St onto Prospect? I think that is the house we bought in ‘88 at the corner of Pine & E Prospect. Missed our apartment at the top of the hill on Front St because he planned right to the guy on the sidewalk.
This was awesome. It's shortly after I moved away from Marquette in 8th grade, so it was a great trip back. I was screaming for the driver to turn down Jackson Street to see if my friends were hanging out, but it was just a tease. I did catch a glimpse of the old Fletcher's Market building. Thanks
That was awesome, but I gotta ask-was the videographer stoned at the time? 😂🤪 Wish we could have seen more business signs & less pavement, lol. But STILL sweet to watch! Did see some old businesses that are long gone. And the cars back then-Haha! Background music was PERFECT for that video! Thanks for posting! Hope to see more like this if you have any!!!!
This was from the early days of people having access to video cameras. We had to look through a very small eyepiece to see what we were filming. If memory serves me we spent much of the time just pointing the camera because it was so difficult to hold the thing up to our eye while we were riding in the back of the truck. It's a wonder we captured anything at all! Ha. We were kids with a camera and a truck. I wish I had more but you are seeing essentially everything there is minus the beer and bad language. The real soundtrack was Van Halen's 5150 album but that was just blasting on the stereo in the truck. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
For some reason I cannot find that particular song again but all of the music in this was created by Kevin MacLoed and can be found at his website incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/music.html
@@ericsherbinow1972 That's effing awesome! Used to play darts with him back then, wife was USAF at K.I., we lived on base - Dave and Debbie.....he lived with Randy then ...good times.....saw this video on Marquette FB page...give him a shout for me! lol
Thanks for posting. Nice to look back on better days.
I'm gonna barf!!! But it brings back lots of memories!!

I was caught in this video. Jim was in the back of the truck. We always laughed about it. 😊

14:52 - a *Lamborghini* outside of LIttle Ceasars!?!??
I think the owner of Little Caesars had two of them.
@@ericsherbinow1972 Yup... Gonna tag his wife... or share the video with her!! Great video!
What a wonderful Time Machine! Thank you for posting this!
If the government (federal and state) had owned the railroad tracks (like it does the highways), the railroads would not have collapsed in America.
brilliant!
Very informative. The ability to travel by railway was excellent at one point. How wonderful that must have been.
This is awesome. We see how the harvesting and transfer of natural resources and Industry shaped the UP
Alas , poor Eric 💀 we knew him, but not too well ...
???
@@ericsherbinow1972 good to see you're still alive 🌈
What is the title/source of the first song. I'd like to find and listen to more works by that composer.

This was awesome. Well done
Very well done. It must have been a laborious process to put this together. Thank you for taking the time to tell a very interesting story.
