Couldn't you just put several GPOs on a 32A circuit and plug those appliances into them?

Where did you read that this power track should be supplied by a 2.5mm² cable?

@@syaz4380 Surely if a circuit is installed using 2.5mm² cable then it will have a protective device with an appropriate rating, and therefore can't be overloaded. Drawing too much current, whether from multiple appliances plugged into one of these will cause the breaker to trip, but then so would drawing the same amount of current from the same appliances plugged into conventional sockets. Neither scenario should lead to bad things happening. What do you mean by "the power point may or may not be looped beforehand"?

That's bonkers, and nothing like the British standards you say your regs are like. 2 per circuit would mean I'd need 9 circuits for my living room, 6 for the kitchen, at least 1 per bedroom, another 2 for hallways & landing. Add in outside, and garage, and I'd have to build a cabin just to house the enormous CU, or collection of CUs, for all those circuits. :D There is zero engineering justification for such a limit. If you want people to abide by rules and regs you have to make them realistic. A 2.5mm² radial on a 32A breaker is just wrong. 20 is OK. 25 might be. But a C-curve breaker is more likely than not to fail to meet disconnection times. No need, in domestic premises, not to use a B for socket circuits.

@@yabbadabbadoo8225 There are 2 separate issues there. 1) If the circuit is properly designed, then this device, or any number of connections, can't cause a fire. It may trip all the time, but it won't catch fire. 2) If the circuit isn't properly designed, and can be overloaded to the point of danger, then that danger exists whether or not you have one of these, or have other connections.

Do you not understand how electricity works? The breaker in your breaker panel will only allow the amount of power rated for your homes wiring, regardless of what you plug into it. The 32 amp rating of the device means maximum of 32 amp, so any breaker & wire combo with a rating from 0 to 32amp is safe to use.

You want to safely run 32AMP it is always advisable to go 6 sq mm wire from your DB box that come with a 32A MCB breaker - - this is the underneath of the setup that goes along with the track. Make sure the wiring circuit (from DB) is DEDICATED ONLY to this power track.

Always seek a Licensed electrician or you could die or kill someone else!!

@@davidlow77 4mm² might be OK. It depends on how it's installed. Bury it in insulation and you'd need 10mm² for 32A.

@@anonnona8099 it also depends on how long you are running on 80% load or more and this is one of the factors why the breaker is always suggested being lower than the wire’s max capability or capacity. This is one of the reasons why the regulations have set for a “smaller” breakers as there are too many sub-par quality wires in the market.
