It continues to be a favorite song. We're here with Sean Smith on bass at NYC's 54 Below for a concert of Wilder's music presented by Friends of Alec Wilder. Video by Micha...

What a delicious combination, Landesman and Wilder...Eric and Barbara. Sharing photographs was so much more "tactile" when this gem was written ;-) Kinda miss it, but your wonderful rendition sparked lovely memories of such rummagings!
Steve, thanks so much for watching AND subscribing! We love this song ... & Barbara's recording of it on her BUSY BEING FREE CD is a favorite!
Sublime! So sorry I couldn't be in the L-C audience, but this delicious video is the very next best thing!
So kind -- it's always a thrill to be on that spectacular stage!
What can be said? What comment can I possibly make after taking in this glorious rendition of Sting’s masterpiece? There is no comment for there are no words. But my tears speak their own language and they have plenty to say.
You're very kind ... a glorious song that's endlessly inspiring!
I just wanted to add how moved I was, too, by Mr. Comstock’s beautiful tie, as I am, on a regular basis, moved by his gorgeous and affecting haberdashery. And can it be said that Ms. Fasano is a slouch in the dressing up department. No, as a matter of fact, it cannot, for the woman always looks like she’s just stepped out of the pages of Vogue magazine. And Mr. Smith himself seems to be channeling a certain Mr. Brummell (of yesteryear) on every occasion. Not at all bad for a musical trio performing regularly in the quaint confines of little old Manhattan!
Well, they say the clothes make the man. Perhaps the song, too??😉
@@EricComstockBarbaraFasano OH, most definitely. If y’all showed up in less than stellar attire to perform your usually sublime song styling, when you, Eric, put your more than nimble fingers to the ivories and the exquisite Barbara opened her mouth to pour forth words and melody and Sean starts in to pluck his heavenly strings, only the most shocking cacophony of disturbing and mangled sounds would ensue! You see, as far as I can tell, a lot of performers can get the job done marvelously, dressed less than well, the three of you, for some unexplainable reason, need that bolster of confidence that one gets from being beautifully turned out! My advice to you: keep on spending all those hard earned dollars at the tailors and the dressmakers. The fantastic return on the investment makes it more than worth the expense.
If this is not DIVINE, then I don’t know what DIVINE is, and as close to attaining Sainthood as I am, let me tell you, I damn well know what DIVINE is! And further on, let me tell you if I weren’t so god dammed oversexed, I would surely be a shoe in for Sainthood! Alas…..
Thanks for tuning in!
Lovely, and beautiful…..thank you
So happy you watched & liked it, Elizabeth! Thank you!
Just revisiting. And am amply fed once more! Gracias
Music to our ears, thank you!
@@EricComstockBarbaraFasano After having the great pleasure and the rare privilege of being under the both of your’s warm and rich tutelage at the 2012 Cabaret workshop in St. Louis, you might remember that I wrote a note of thanks, assuring you both that I planned to happily study under the two of you by continuing to listen intently to your recordings. Well, I am happy to say that I’ve been true to my word and even more happy to say that the learning never stops. Thank you, good teachers!
@@oscar646 What sweet words, thank you. The lessons never end, not for any of us. Where would we be without the inspiration of other artists? And it warms our hearts to think that we're part of your journey.🌻
Brava!
Hello, friend! Thanks for watching.
This song cast a spell over me the first time I heard you sing it. Thanks for posting this beautiful performance!
How kind of you to say this. It IS a beauty. Thank you for tuning into our channel!
A beautiful song such as this one deserves the care and treatment it receives from the three of you. I hope Alec, Loonis and our much missed friend Judy heard this.
Thank you, Roger. We hope we honored them all!
Thanks to all of you. This is wonderful.
Thank you for watching this new clip, Ms. Andy, AND for all you do to keep the music playing!
Stunning arrangement and performance.
Bernadette, we're so glad you tuned in. Thank you!
Also, Mr. Comstock, my father played a LOT like you. ❤
For those of you who love this song….here’s some trivia. My father wrote this song during WW11 when he was a bombardier. He was a Juilliard grad, and sent it to colleagues there. Edmund Goulding (the producer of the 1946 Razor’s Edge movie), was trying to hunt down a theme song, and heard there was this amazing song from a recent grad, and demanded a meeting with my father. He flew to Italy where my dad was stationed, and bought it from him. (My dad needed the money, he had a child on the way). His name was Martin Tuck. He worked for RCA after the war. He had 2 kids, got divorced and married my mother 5 years later and had my brother and I. He was an exceptional man…..kind, funny, an amazing pianist and writer. I was a classical pianist and played with symphonies, and my brother has been a keyboardist and singer for many years. There have been many articles written about my dad, as word did get out. I’m proud to be his daughter, and still floored that so many people keep writing about his song. Even Seth MacFarlane wrote me. And Michael Feinstein (my childhood babysitter) (parents friends with mine) had my dad stand up in Carnegie Hall to say thank you for his start.
Thank you for enlightening us, Elizabeth! We always suspected that Mr. Goulding, however talented, did not write that beautiful melody. We’re so glad you found us here. 🎶💗🎶
And so kind of you to respond. My brother and I are in the midst of recording my dad's song...(sort of in the light of Nat Cole and Natalie Cole.) It will take a 100 elephants to keep my brother from butchering it up...but I'm loyal to the orginal. We're both singers also...but I intend to make it lovely and classic, to a token to my dad.

Simply spectacular!!! And what a venue!!!
Thank you, Tammy. And yes, it's always a thrill to work one of the great halls!
Beautiful reading of these lyrics, Barbara.
Thanks for tuning in! There are endless depths in this masterpiece of a song! 🎶
"Wine does, mine does," sigh. Irresistible
Agreed. Such a lyric!
What JOY you two lovey-dove-ys so beautifully bring!!!
That’s so kind of you! It’s such a joyful song to sing. Thanks for watching! 🎶
WOW -- how exquisite!!
What a song! Plus the evocative Rick Jensen arrangement. We hope Mr. Porter would be pleased!🎶
This is lovely!
Thank you very much, Adrienne! It’s a truly evocative lyric by Mack Gordon & what a melody!🎶
One of my favorites (and my first introduction to Andy Williams courtesy of my mom). Wouldn’t a show devoted to the lyrics of Mack Gordon be a wonderful thing?
Oh yes! 🎶
❤
Great performance! I was also lucky enough to have played Lincoln center, but Geffen Hall, and it was Avery Fisher Hall at the time
Thank you for watching! And yes, it’s thrilling to be on that stage!🎶
Absolutely delightful ..... M'sieur
Merci, ma chérie! We're so happy you're watching the new clips! 🎶
You two are the BEST!!! xoox
You're the sweetest, thanks for watching!
Such great energy and so much fun to watch and listen to you both!! xoox
You two know all about great energy! Thanks for watching & sharing your great energy on our UA-cam channel. 🎶💗🎶
Caught your show this last Saturday at Birdland. My wife and I were front row and we LOVE you two!!! Funny, my wife is Italian and I'm not (Hungarian/Lithuanian),so that's something Eric and I have in common, though I am not from the "Mayonnaise Belt!" - Eric, you killed me with that! 🙂 Barbara, on our way out last weekend we said hi and I mentioned Italian House Party on WICC. It's Sundays 9:00am - 2:00pm on 600 WICC... You'll love it! Looking forward to coming and seeing you again.
How wonderful to know you've found our UA-cam channel, Gregory! Thank you so much, & yes, we remember you both ringside at Birdland on Saturday night -- really great meeting you & your wife, & we're so happy you loved the set! Thanks, also for the tip -- we'll check out WICC. We hope to see you both soon again at Birdland -- Saturdays at 5:30pm! 🎶
So much fun!! 💖💖💖💖💖
Thanks for watching, Ms. Andy!
So glad to have enjoyed it in person! And for such a good cause -- the Mabel Mercer Foundation -- to keep the music playing!🎤🎶🎹 d.
The swellest night! Thanks so much, David!
Magical! Love your voices! xoxo
We so appreciate that! Thanks so much for tuning in! 🎶
Frank Sinatra Jr was asked in an interview what song his father recorded over his career that was his favorite, and he responded, “All My Tomorrows.”
Sinatra’s singing on it is heartbreaking.
Proof that consummate pros with exquisite musical taste and infectious warmth could bring such joy to music lovers during the dark days in which the pandemic had shut down in-person music making. As I recall, I actually did not discover your Red Wall Saloon videos until you were back to performing live (that is, in person-type live!), but how nice to discover this one, with three of my favorite tunes, just now! Bravo!
Steve, thank you so much for these sweet words. We did over 70 episodes of #72and song! They're all here on our channel. We're happy you discovered a favorite!
whoop whoop
Thanks for listening! 🎶
Still can't get enough of this knockout performance! And I'm way overdue for a visit to NYC - and a new song or two. Will remedy asap!
Jonathan, we're honored to do some justice to your beautiful song that Barbara's moon photos inspired AND the Red Wall theme you so generously composed for us. More, please, yes!
The abridged version still sounds great.
Ha -- it's a fine song, even 15 seconds of it! Thanks, Joseph!
The "very complex" Dorothy Fields. That was a euphemism for Fields being a terrible drunk, who only functioned for a couple of hours each day. There was so much political pandering in this singer's introduction that I'm loathe to even listen to her performance.
Wow!! ❤ Lucky me….somehow this just showed up!! Love ❤ you guys
We're so happy you got a chance to see this again, Merrill! Happy '23!🎊
YAY!! Congratulations!! Birdland is is getting spoiled by you two! You're so cute and so fun!! xoxo
COULD you be sweeter? Thanks so much, Lyssie!
Thrilled to receive a missive from the Saloon. Trip to NYC now a must.
And that would be a thrill for us! Hope it's soon, Les!
You never disappoint...
Thanks so much, Tom!
Fun film, great song, good job Eric !
Appreciate it, Al!
Lovely piano Interlude
Thanks so much, Bernie. What a fun song to stretch on!
What a heady cocktail of witty lyrics, music, infectious performing. Delighted to have just discovered your series, and hearty congrats for the honors!
Thank you so much, Steve, & we're thrilled you found us here!
I enjoyed the stories, but more importantly, I really enjoyed the performance. The version over the credits of "A Hole In The Head" is so full of hope (high?). There is a future, and maybe even a Disneyland in Florida of all places. The latter version, which is much closer to Barbara's version is one that brings experience and wisdom to the "reading." Just marvelous.
Kenneth, thanks so much! Yes, we agree: Sinatra's latter version with the Don Costa arrangement is superb!
Beautiful Barbara!!
Thank you so much for tuning in -- what a song!
Nice tenor saxophone
Yes, that’s the brilliant Harry Allen!
Well deserved accolade. With great thanks for keeping civilization alive.
