The Battle of Camden and the Battle of Cowpens: Gate’s Incompetence or Morgan’s Talent
Переглядів 12Рік тому
It is not easy to decipher if Gates was simply incompetent in the battle of Camden or if he was just being hasty. One will never truly know why he decided to put his militia against the best of the British Army against General Cornwallis. My theory is that even if he had all of the best timing and met the British on an open field and both armies were ready for battle, I think Gates would have m...

In this chapter, Byrd talks about the religious justification for the war. He mentions how the colonials need to find some sort of justification for the highly Christian Calvanists, and Puritans of the colonies to go to war against Britain. He mentions how the Colonists argued that they were like the Israelites of old, trying to escape Egyptian bondage. But he doesn’t neglect to mention the hyp...

Pat vs bear (longsword and shield vs longsword)
The key for cutting with a sword especially a European arming or longsword is in the legs and the hips not the arm
This is the only online video lol We need a review!
Hey mate, from where did you acquire the rapiers with the two-handed grip shown in your other video? Sorry to ask like this across videos but comments are disabled there and you are literally the one guy I have found so far with a rapier like that
Hey brother, it isn’t mine. It is my buddies. But they’re fun to use and Castile Armory makes them custom if you reach out to them. 🤙🏼
@@mandalorianactual1215 Thanks bro!
Do you feel like this sword is fairly balanced for cut and thrust, or is it a heavy chopper?
Obviously it's a Calvary sword which was meant to be used from horseback striking down meaning that it's blade heavy... it's a chopper based on typology & pob
Very clean chops!
Thank you so much! Coming from you that is an incredible compliment brother!
cool video
Thank you Gabe. Glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to cut the nonsense and get straight to the enjoyment factor that everyone wants to see.
Cool Stuff! I'm in south Florida looking for a HEMA club do you have any recommendations?
look up SFL_Frayfechter on instagram. =)
@@mandalorianactual1215 Much appreciated, on it.
@mandalorian_actual you dropped some cool points at 1:48. I'll help you get them back next Friday.
lmao you are most kind. I should make a blooper video of me falling all the time...
Looked like it was a fun session!
Indeed it was!
Tons of good exchanges in this one
It was a great day my brother!
Really great exchanges just need to work on staying fresh through the fight longer.
We will work on it brother! And we need to try doing more than 1 touch exchanges. Try and see who can score first to 2 or 3 consecutive hits before the other lands a blow. I think that would help us too.
Great video! Would love to hear some commentary on what is happening.
My biggest regret in this match last night was fall for your faints early on in the match. They were really good. Thanks for the match, can't wait for some time this week.
No need for regrets brother. It was a great match! I can’t wait till our next match, my brother!
@@mandalorianactual1215 YEAH, me too!
Longsword vs a dude with a shinai maybe. But not vs someone doing kendo :)
When considering these factors. Since I'm the one in the video. After doing nearly three years of kendo, I have learned this much about the difference between kendo and hema fighting. They have completely different win conditions, angles of attack, terrain the fight on, as well at stances.1:When trying to use kendo, the only point of contact that is consider valid is between the tip of the shina and the tie. This represent the the best place to cut with a katana. Unfortunately with hema, the full length of the blade is considered a valid area to score a cut. This completed changes how one can structure there attacks and position there follow ups. If I can't use the full length of my blade, but he can, I'm at a major disadvantage. His win conditions is alot easier to achieve then mine. 2: In kendo you have four areas to attack at, men, dō, kote, and, ski. How in hema, ever part of the body is a valid target to hit. When fighting a opponent that sees every part of your body as a target, while you are restricted by four areas in kendo, it makes most of your attacks and the angle they come from predictable and easy to counter. This is why in this video, as well as many other videos on this channel, I had to adapt and change where I was attacking from, how I was attacking, and what areas I was trying to hit. Strictly speaking, no this is not kendo, though all of my basis for fighting stems from that. I never use the part of the shinai has is a string because that is designated as the back of the katana, as well as will damaged the shinai. All of my attacks start from me doing either a fumikomi or suri ashi. The stomp and slide footwork respectfully. I also have zan-shin after all of my attacks to prevent a counter attack or a after blow. 3: The primary stance you are taught in kendo, and strictly speaking the only stance I learned in kendo was chudan no kami. The basic stance that you will see in most of the videos. That stance is a pretty strong one in most cases, but it is not the best stance to hit at all times. Because all of my attacks come from The chudan no kami stance, my opponent can switch to a guard position that blocks or counters most of the areas I want to hit. Thus forcing me to switch to a different stance in order to overcome that. Unfortunately, I'm not largely skilled at using many other stances outside of the basic one. This is because my dojo has not taught me how to use any other stances outside of that one. This is because the win conditions and rules for kendo are far different than that of Hema, which is why I've had to largely adopt long sword stances, as well as some Kenjutsu stances in order to keep up. 4 and final: Kendo is preformed in a flat, most of the time wooden floor with even ground and terrain for most of the fight in this video as well as what Hema practitioners primarily do, is fight in different conditions. Because a lot of my footwork starts from having bare feet on a flat wooden surface, most of my footwork is largely hampered, if not outright impossible to perform on these grounds, filled with geese poop nearby. Wearing the shoes that I have on is largely awkward. This is because with kendo, I have full traction with my feet and it's not something like these terrains. I hope this clears everything up as well as explains why my fighting style looks far different from kendo. Remember, both kendo and hema are both martial arts, kendo is closer to a sport then hema is.
@@smackmmk Hello, I'm a former professional who trained kendo for nearly 10 years. It's just that your skills are terrible. Have a nice day.

Nice video. Love the different angles. Just a suggestion keep your hand on the pump handle and hold forward while shooting to keep velocity consistent, and also so you're ready for next shot.
Thank you brother, I appreciate it!
What was the score?
I honestly didn't keep score lol. They were just for fun.

Very cool. Where is this?
Thank you! The place is called Covert Ops Paintball in Colorado Springs.
Loved the scope. Witcher range on it? That glare that you had was murderous.
Thank you brother! It's just a regular red dot that I got on Amazon from called: Tacticon Armament Predator V1 Red Dot Sight | Green Dot Sight for roughly $40.
There was no zoom on it, but the ranges I was shooting at were roughly 10-20 yards.
Keep it up bro!
Thank you brother!
